and the standing daily charge for Scottish Power is ?0

I am assuming that you have an Imperial gas meter so you use approx 6,300kWh per year. This is very low consumption - about 30% of the UK average of 20,500kWh
Your electricity consumption is also low; 2000kWh is approx 60% of the UK average consumption of 3,300kWh.
You don't give your area so I have taken prices for the Midlands.
According to Which the cheapest Tariff for your consumption is Scottish Power at £368.03.
For the same consumption(again according to Which) the cheapest UW tariff is £510.40
So UW is £142.37 more expensive - that is 38.7% more expensive.
My home is only 3 years old and very energy efficient, rated A+, hence the low bills and I pay around £32 per month for both utilities which includes both standing charges for gas and electricity.
I presume the £368.03 does not include the standings charges?0 -
You have been quoted a much cheaper tariff which has no standing chages.0
-
There is no daily standing charge.
You pay extra for the first gas and electricity units used(tier 1)
That is all taken into account in the £368.03. - that is all you will pay.
When enquiring about my not being connected to the national grids, I was told by my neighbours that everybody has to pay a standing charge and that it varies from supplier to supplier0 -

They have mislead you.
If you check out the tariff you have been quoted you will see there is no standing charge to pay as this is covered by the extra cost imposed in the tier 1 units you use.0 -

Can you provide a link to ascertain there is no connection charge to the national grid or that it is included in the tier 1 cost?0 -
The point is, you have to pay UW another "standing charge" of a minimum £1.76 (the monthly "membership fee") on top of any standing charges for your gas and electricity.0
