OK, here I go on the next step towards being MS:
Trying 2nd purse system (mothership, you were right, DH did say it was all a bit unnecessary! Must be a bloke thing!)
Trying using cash instead of debit cards
Also getting BACK to meal planning, having been off focus for a while, I know it will help.
btw where did the 'thanks' button go?! I only went MIA for a little while...and it's all changed!0 -

Lol :rotfl: Love that idea. Never searched for bricks on google before
Made some scones today. I needed to use up creme fraiche so in the spirit of using everything up I thought I'd try making scones with it. My logic being that if you can make scones with buttermilk, gone off milk and yoghurt then the adicity in the creme fraiche such work too. Well, occording to DH they're the best ever :j I'm well pleased.

Its a bit like that mortgage programme Alvin Hall used to do.
He would show people how much of their home they owned by colouring in a portion of their house, it really makes you think.
I havent worked out a budget for April as yet.
Ocad0 offered me 6 months free delivery so I am trying out just getting my shopping from them and planning around what I have already got in. I know they are more expensive but if i go to any of the other shops, I cannot stop myself thinking something is good value, or it will come in handy, or it looks good or its something new. I have also only bought offers and everyday items.
So for the past two weeks it has been a weekly delivery and a list for the oh to go into the shops on a Saturday am and he never buys extras.
so far so good and they say you break a habit if you manage it three times.
good luck everyone.0 -

Hi everyone, I am going to stick at £400 for April (thanks Helen). By only going to the butcher and the C00p for one item I managed to come in just under my March total (all in sig) but feel I can do better.
This month is different. Many storecupboard items are uncomfortably low. We are away for just over a week. DS is seeing for himself but I am paying while we are away. Not sure how this will work but we shall see.
Good luck everyone

Hi
Thank you for the thread Zippy, Helen and Rosieben.
Please could you put me down for £400 this month including an MSE Easter which I'm determined not to overspend on as people are only really interested in Chocolate any way!
I've already had an April A*da shop yesterday which came to £50.01 and I've got a Sa*nsbury delivery booked for Thursday night with some Easter stuff. This will be a £100+ shop for free delivery and hopefully we will last a couple of weeks after that without too much bit buying... hopefully!
Have a good weekend.August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
Morning!
My mum met up woth my oldest son in London yesterday, to watch rugby at wembley. She has just called to tell me that she has sent him home with loads of sweets and chocolate for easter!
Brilliant, that means i dont have to spend anything for easter chocs!0 -
aiming for max £340 for the rest of the month
spent approx £60 so far as did a shop fri before the kids broke up for the hos and while I did spend a fair bit on snacks / icecreams ect I know it would have cost far more if i'd waited till monday and had to take them with me.
think i'm finally getting to get the hang of things so for all those who feel like they're struggling there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. knowing what you need to do and actually putting that into practice isnt always easy but keep at it an it does become easier.
last month I decided I would only visit mr a once a fortnight for the bits we buy there that we cant get eslewhere and I actually stuck with that :T. it was hard at first as i go past most days and had gotten into the habit of just popping in for the sake of it and then spending what I didnt really need to on stuff i didnt really need.just that one simple step made such a difference to how I spend my gc money.
thanks again to everyone who keeps this thread going
goodluck everyone with your april challengethis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0
