Unfortunately I believe most of these "wardens" think what they are doing is legitimate! They will have been instructed by their employers no doubt who tell them what to do, unlike a real warden, CEO who have a handbook and are trained into what is right and wrong, these people are probably told what to do in a couple of hours on their first day and then dumped in a car park somewhere to do what they are told to do.

I bet the majority do not understand the conditions the PPC is working under and believe the tickets they issue are legit. Plus they cant really be consistent because there is no consistent position to start with.

However I am sure there are a few who know exactly what they are doing and know full well its a con. One springs to mind at a UKCPS retail park who just continually skims the perimeters of the car park checking the disabled bays which there are 135 on the park. We all know UKCPS love disabled bays and its an easy check to see if a badge is on display.

I normally wait a few minutes while he comes around and while he checks my car stick my badge up before I get out!:)

Very true. I was involved in a conversation with one of Apcoa's finest at Luton Airport a few weeks ago when he was telling a driver to move her car or she would get a fine. I asked him what legislation allowed him to fine a driver on private property and he pointed at a sign and said "That sign up there says so!" I said to him the sign wasn't legislation and that he had no power to fine anyone in law and he replied "Wait until she gets home and we send a penalty in the post to her!"

You just can't argue with these drones, they are too thick to comprehend the truth.

A couple of years ago on CAG a PPC employee stated he was proud of his job in a supermarket car park even though he was on minimum wage. He became somewhat deflated though when it was pointed out he could probably have got a better job inside said supermarket on the same or better wages, and he wouldn't have to keep getting cold and wet in bad weather.

The t&c of the signs are irrelevant in a majority of the times as nobody can see what terms they have in small fonts 10 foot up a lamppost 200 yards away, and we had somebody on here a few days ago getting an invoice for something that wasn't even on the sign that he saw and parked in front of.

Sort of sums the scammers up really, I used to taxi a guy to his job in a supermarket car park some years ago, he was just doing a job and paying his taxes and bills, he hated his job and the people he worked for, but it was better than the dole. Just !
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

To be honest, I don't think they really care. They just do as they're told, in order to earn their slice of bread. I don't really think any PPC employee really cares whether a ticket they issue gets paid as long as they get their monthly pay themselves. Sure they'll tell you there is the sign etc but again they're just following instructions. Following instructions get you minimal greif and a bit of cash.

Too true. I did some marshalling work for one of the large supermarkets a year or two back for £6ph. There were meant to be 3 of us and I was the only one who turned up, had experience, knew what I was doing etc. I did the job of 3 people for 6 days, worked my backside off, etc. I then found out the trolley pushers were getting £7.50ph :(

Even when you're breaking up traffic jams that people accidentally cause in a supermarket car park, keep it all moving, keep the areas outside the store clear etc, despite using your intelligence you're still worth less than the zombie that pushes metal round the car park. Pointless.

As for those who issue tickets, I should imagine they're pretty demotivated by it all too.

    Another inside info.

It is crap at times traipsing around looking for cars in the peeing down rain or the wind or the hail... but its just as rewarding to see the nice old dear who has worked all her life before being mugged by some scum and having her hip broken so she can walk far and has a mobility car be able to get into a space near a shop so she can comfortably walk in and do her weekly shopping.
Its also nice when people who come to the most expensive restaurant in a city/town park in the small butchers car park with 2 spaces to save his£3 on pay and display parking at the 500 space site across the road despite paying more in corkage on a bottle of plonk stop parking in said space as he has had 2 or 3 tickets, even if he hasn't paid.

Sure we get some stick of people calling us names throwing punches and spitting at us. but as said its a job.. I have a 2 year old son, a stepson and a missus to feed. I dont have a mortgage or a posh car but i get by.

I also try to be fair. I dont operate on any "free parking for 6 hours" supermarket sites Nor do i issue tickets for crap things like parking over the white line or having too many air fresheners on display BUT we would all be out of business if people just had some respect for other people and parked properly.

MY largest site at the minute is a housing estate about 400 metres from a train station and about 700m from a football ground. Both have adequate pay to park whereas the estate has 1 space per unit. Yes the developers could have provided more but they didnt so the situation stays. People day in day out without fail park in the spaces. This means a mum, a dad, brother, uncle, nan, grandad or someone else can't park at their house. This is inconsiderate. A person pays their rent to have this space and if they cant protect it how is that fair? Before people say put a bollard or a barrier in this isn't practical on this site.
