chat with ukpc warden

Options
just to let you all in on what happened with the above

pulled into a retail park in Bristol today (same one as i got a ticket in last year) and noticed a parking warden hovering around a car parked over the white lines so with a grin on my face pulled in next to it.The mrs just sighed and got out and went to Tescos leaving me with the young un fast asleep.Keeping an eye on the warden i also noticed a dog in the car, eventually the owner came back apologised about leaving the dog in the car and drove off WITH NO TICKET. Asking why he never gave her a ticket he replied he was concerned about the dog (fair enough) and that she was not parked far enough over the line to warrant a ticket, so i asked him on their signs can he point out how far over the lines you are allowed to be, just got a confused look on his face so i then asked him do you make the rules up as you go along , i also mentioned something i cant divulge on and with that he just wandered off.

sums them all up really

    Right Hammer,

Let me upset a few boats on here for a change. almost Every post on here is about parking operators being scum and al other expletives. This guy didn't give them a ticket for one of the many things you all on here moan about and guess what .. you come on here and moan.... Seriously?

The warden stated clearly he was concerned about the animal in the car. Is this such a crime? Was he wrong not to give the car a ticket? Maybe he should have issued it for leaving an animal unattended in a car? Or should he have acted like a human being with feelings and emotions and concerns and not bothered to give the car a ticket?

Would you have made a similar post then?

I normally don't disagree with most of the things posted on here as i know there are people out there who put a shame on our industry but there has to be a flip side. ?

It's never good to be a PPC warden really is it? :rotfl: people hate you when you give out tickets and when you don't give someone a ticket, people complain that your not doing your job properly :rotfl: ... Tbf, its fine to be concerned about the dog but what does giving a ticket out have to do with the dog? If their going to give out these ridiculous 'fines' they should at least be consistent!

    my point is this

i agree with his concern about the dog, but the very same day i got a ticket for allegedly leaving site the car next to me which was parked over the white lines had a ticket slapped on it by the same warden who decided today that he wouldnt bother . I actually pulled in and waited for the owner to come back and wanted explain to her about how these companies run these car parks and their extortionate charges but didnt need to as she was not ticketed. it seems a lottery in these places on who gets a ticket and who doesnt

Guy, the ... whatever you care to call him ... was concerned about the dog in the car. Good.

But, he would've otherwise ticketted the person for infringing a totally non-existant T&C. Not good.

I suspect that this was something that he'd been told to do, rather than he made up himself, though.

He might just as well have ticketted for leaving the dog in the car. Or for the car being the wrong make or colour. Or anything else that wasn't on the board, not that this is worth the plastic it's printed on.

Personally, I have no issues with PPC attendants. They are only trying to earn a crust. There but for the grace of God go I.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

He didn't issue a ticket and put it on the windscreen, but most likely issued the ticket in the computer so the registered keeper will get an invoice in the next few weeks, maybe UKPC might fast-track it to their debt collectors to try and panic them into paying up

PPC drones are probably like any other job. There will be good and bad. As it's a bad job, I doubt that any "good" ones are going to last very long since it is only the tickets they issue that pay everyone's wages. At the other end of the scale there will be megalomaniacs who like the thought of causing people grief as it gives them a feeling of power. Of course the companies will see these as the "successful" ones.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. "I got a ticket and wanted to see someone else get one but they didn't so now I'm going to moan about it".

I can give you an insight into it as I've been a CEO for a council and worked for a PPC (I never did tickets for the PPCs though - just patrols and marshalling stuff).

As a CEO I had rules to enforce. There would be some cars that were clearly in breach and others that were borderline. I'd ignore the borderline rule breachers but I had colleagues who would ticket anything for the most trivial thing they could find.

    What I'm saying is this:
You don't know it was even the same person
You don't know what their decision making process is
You don't know if their rules / decision making process has changed
There could have been a contract change by the land owner

People normally hate parking staff for the very fact they issue tickets and yet (as pointed out above) you're here moaning that one didn't today. Why not just come here and say something positive like "I saw a parking warden NOT issue a ticket for once - what a bloke!". No, you're a typical brit, have a moan about something because you 'can' irrespective of whether it really concerns you or not. I bet you moan about petrol and diesel too and probably never bothered to sign the petition too. I bet you also play ping pong between the two big parties instead of voting for anyone else at election time.

Something, which I hope will make you all smile. I was walking my border collie dog on a lead near where I live - the council changed the parking rules before Christmas last year, extending the hours for their Pay and Display, without making it obvious to visitors, so people going to the theatre were finding either a ticket or their vehicle removed afterwards. Anyway, we both saw a Parking Attendant issuing a ticket and she barked, some passerbys laughed and asked me had I trained her to do that?

Sounds about right. The sneaks are always trying to milk the motorist somehow.
