to open and count my money tin? or not?

I have been saving 5ps in a money tin (can only be opened using a tin opener) for just under one year. Its bigger than the 'normal' money tins you can get and has a picture on the front rather than a goal. Anyway its over 3/4 full and its so heavy now that the base is starting to bow. I dont know if i should open it or…
