  • If you have similar size tins then firstly weigh an empty one.

    Then weigh 1 5p.

    Weigh your full tin

    Then from the weight of the full tin take away the weight of the empty tin (so what is left must be 5ps) and then divide the answer by the weight of the 1 5p.

    Multiply the whole number by 5p and you have a rough idea of how much you've got in the tin.

  • if it was starting to bow at the bottom I would open it.....I would hate to have an explosion of 5ps all over the floor - you might loose some!:rotfl:
    So my vote is open it as soon as you have decided what you will use the money on. You need to be poised with money bags so you can count it up straight away and pay it into the bank. Let us know when you are going to open it!

    Hi PAP, if you have got some digital kitchen scales.....£5 worth of 5p's in a bank bag weighs approx 326 or 327 grams.
    Just in case you wanted a rough idea of how much is in there.

    thanks what a wit... i tryed to weigh one 5p but it didnt move my kitchen scales at all... but an empty tin weighs 100g and my tin weighs 6kg 620g.... dont even ask me to do the calculations... thats why i am going back to college :rotfl:
