Do you collect copper in the same way? If you do then it might be a better idea to open your copper tin and leave the 5p`s till you cant get a single one out.

  • I would wait until it was full, just making sure that it was on the floor not on a shelf or something else that isn't guaranteed to take the weight.

Only open it in a dire straits emergency (and I don't mean you get asked out by Mark Knopfler!).

God I just remembered you are really so much younger than me, that joke will go right over your head I bet...:o

  • Wait till the tin is full else you are just going to have to buy another tin which is going to cost you money!
  • I would attempt to knock the money out through the hole with a knife... so that you can reuse the tin!!!!

But if you are gonna count it... make sure it is spent, saved, used for what you intended :-)

If its buckling, then perhaps you should open it.

    BUT

Do not open it until you are completely sure what it is going to be spent on or where it is going!

Mind you, does that depend on how much is in there??
  • hazzie123 ~ i collect copper in a huge blue pig (similar to the one martin used on one of his programmes) and once thats full/i want to count it i change it into 5ps for this tin :)

LookingAhead ~ the shelf is ok la... but when that starts bowing i will put it on thr floor... you dont realise how heavy it is... oh and i didn't get that joke either sorry...

going2die_rich ~ very true but i have got 5 more tins

julybride ~ the slot for the tin is too thin for that it wont fit £1 in just £2 and below :) i have a £2 coin tin started too but that never gets added too as i dont spend much :rotfl:

charlotte664 ~ charlotte... i think thats what is making me leave it closed i have no idea what to do with it... my debt is being paid monthly through a standing order so it will be paid before the 0% ends so really it will go towards my car as it wont be filled up enough for me to use as holiday spends...

so at the momment it is staying sealed :T i guess it has nearly £50 in there my mum says £80... we will soon find out :)

Umm don't you have another thread about retaking your maths GCSE and worrying about where the £177 is going to come from?!!?!?

Seems like a good reason to open it to me....
