I'm back!
Apologies for the absence - I've had visitors since Monday and they've only just gone home. Food over the past 4 days is not worth mentioning - lets just say its been poor due to eating out, extra treats etc.
I weighed this morning to hopefully shock me into starting SW properly again today and miraculously I've managed to STS:j. Thinking about it, I have done quite a bit of walking so maybe that's cancelled out some of the baddies?
So today's food....
Breakfast - had a cereal bar (HEB)
Lunch - quorn ham and lots of salad, satsuma, apple
Tea - Jacket spud, beans and cheese (HEA)
Snack -strawberries and maybe a Muller0 -
Looks fine to me though I'm no expert. Personally I add a bit more veg either to the meals (maybe peppers or brocolli with the stir fry) or things like carrot sticks for snacks. The more superfree the better I say - as its good for you plus makes you less likely to snack on other stuff. If you used plain noodles rather than straight to wok they'd be free too
I'd agree with that ammonite, definitely more superfree needed and possibly more food in general. Snacking is fine (doesn't have to be just 3 square meals) but need to keep up the (at least) a third of superfree. So snacks shouldn't be free/syns only as it pushes the proportion of superfree right down. If you want to be extra good make sure you have superspeedy as well like melon and beans. Good luck. I'm a big EE fan. Although you have less HEXs, the lack of measuring makes up for it for me.0 -
WI and I've STS. i think I'm settling back into my "one week off, one week STS" cycle. i did this last time, i always STS then a good weight loss the week after. like my body thinks in two week blocks. ah well.
I've got a plan for next week, I'm off shopping and I'm going to buy lots of lovely veg and fruit and try different fish rather than just sticking to salmon. I'm also going to try and limit red meat and stick to chicken and turkey too and see if that helps things along. got some SS tins of mushy peas that need eating too!
have you been watching The Little Paris Kitchen on BBC? theres some nice recipes in that that can easily be made SW friendly and I'm going to try a few, bought the book yesterday. theres one for eggs in teacups that might make a posh brekkie and a croque madame done as a kind of muffin. will just have to switch to WH bread and see if fry light crunches it up like the butter does.0 -
Hello all,
Can someone help me please? I am starting extra easy after being on green/red for a while. I can't imagine how I will lose weight on EE with all of the carbs but it seems to work for you guys! Usually have 2 green and 5 red per week.
Can someone check I've got the hang of this (particularly breakfast)?
B - 2 x Hovis Nimble White (B), low-fat spread (2 syns)
S - around 10am I plan to have a banana which would be my 1/3 superfree food from breakfast. Can't possibly stomach anything other than toast in the mornings
L - Amoy straight to wok medium noodles (2.5 syns), chicken (free) mushrooms (1/3 SF), 15ml Heinz BBQ sauce (1 syn)
D - Bacon and mushroom (1/3 SF) risotto with frylight (free?)
HEA - Milk for my tea
HEB - 2 x Hovis Nimble
Syns - 5.5 syns
does that look right? Am I allowed snacks in between too? fruit or free or synned items? could i have a handful of tomatoes or a slice of ham if I got hungry? or has it got to be 3 square meals?
I agree with the comments about adding more superfree. although bananas are superfree they are not superspeed - could you have maybe a pear or an apple midmorning?
and whilst mushrooms are great you'd need an awful lot of them to keep up with your 1/3rd superfree. i had stirfry last night and had onion, carrot, pepper, mushroom and broccoli in it.
Yes you can snack, but ideally on free/superfree items - I eat tonnes of fruit and will happily nibble tomatoes/peppers, but will have things like a slice of ham too.
Hope this helps!
Every so often I go back to my book to reread it - it is so easy to slip into bad habits or tweak it unintentionally.....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Thanks rachbc and maman - I struggle with fruit and veg because of various food intolerances, in general I don't eat big portions of any food, just like to graze through the day so will try and increase my superfree that way, I can eat carrots and celery and tomatoes which I can nibble on through the day.
edit: cyclingyorkie - thanks for that too, we posted at the same time. Can eat peas, carrots, celery, mushrooms, tomatoes, bananas, peaches - but if I had them all every day I'd be really poorly. Can't eat anything green and leafy nor anything exciting like onions, leeks or anything generally which has a flavour (boring I know!) but will make a concerted effort. To be honest, if I eat more than one fruit or veg a day on EE, its more than I eat nowterrible I know
Is it OK to have my 'breakfast superfree' around 10am? (aka my banana)
evilsquid - I saw one of the The Little Paris Kitchen and loved the idea of the croque madame muffins, couldn't find a recipe online so may buy the book!0 -

Morning all,
Well I've finally done it, I've joined Slimming World yesterday. I was a member quite a few years ago and had good weight loss so hopefully it will work again (and stay off this time )
We've had a few family problems for which food has been the comforter but this is no longer going to be an excuse/reason for my weight, it's me that's put the food in there not the problems.
I do feel a little bit obsessed with food this morning, checking what is and isn't free food etc but I am sure I will soon get into the swing of things. Oh and hubby has just told me this morning that we are going out tomorrow for FIL's birthday, will just be careful and choose wisely off the menu.
I think this thread will be great extra support on my weight loss journey
WELCOME!! Before long you'll be looking at foods and thinking - XYZ syns in that and yes, this thread does more for me than the group does.

Ideal for when your out shopping without a meal plan behind you.Hello all,

Always have something free with anything starchy or carby. So even if you have a plate full of spag bol, serve with a side salad. If your not a morning person when it comes to breakie, go with a slice of 400g loaf for toast. That will leave you with another slice to chuck some beans on for a snack around 10
But other wise looks fine.
I snack on ham, I often will by a discounted meat joint and roast it - gammon is the best for picking at!!
WATCH OUT Some of these cheaper pre-formed sliced hams have added sugar (Dextrose, Lucrose etc)
Rachbc check your syns on those microwave rice packs. - The ones I bought where 6 syns! - I ended up having half of a pouch and filling the plate with salad.
evilsquid1603 - STS is better than a gain. Despite the disappointment. Must be alot of body changes going on ever other week with you
Hope you had a nice weekend WelshWoofer. ( I keep wanting to type wolfer...! hrmm)
Cyclingyorkie, not a book reader, I prefer to use the online food diary and syn calc - much easier for me.
lalamb Well Done!
Rainbowfairydust Hoping for a cookie free day for younot sure I could avoid nibbling at the random crumbs in your position though!
lamarsi Have you thought of buying a couple of the 1 glass sized bottles - I know they work out more expensive, but that way you get the "Ahhhh" after work without the "ARRRRRGGGG!" at weigh in
and on the note of wine - Thank you for that tip Minnie Minx, ....off to tescos now
