Unlike The Greatest Loser which is done on weight loss, Woman of the Year is just who you want to vote for! She's nice and funny!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
On the subject of SW staples - done a huge shop yesterday but very MSE - here is the receipt!
Passata 16 @ £0.29 £ 4.64
Carrots (tin) 12 @ £0.20 £ 2.40
Mushy Peas 12 @ £0.08 £ 0.96
Potatoes (tin) 12 @ £0.23 £ 2.76
Baked Beans 20 @ £0.29 £ 5.80
Lasagne Sheets 5 @ £0.19 £ 0.95
UHT Milk 2 @ £0.60 £ 1.20
Pickled Eggs 2 @ £1.99 £ 3.98
Long Grain Rice (1kg) 5 @ £0.40 £ 2.00
Porridge Oats (1kg) 1 @ £0.75 £ 0.75
Mix Herbs 1 @ £0.19 £ 0.19
Curry Powder 3 @ £0.52 £ 1.56
Pasta Quills (500g) 10 @ £0.15 £ 1.50
Total £28.69
Now i just have to put it all away :rotfl: - but i reckon it will do me for at least 110 meals  (on pasta, porridge & rice alone!)
I would have brought more of the pasta, but i got the last lot! I think cos they are 'rebranding' their value range (Mr T), they are doing it at silly prices! Like 8p for a tin of mushy peas!!!
On the subject of the groups being happy clappy - i don't find it that much - but i help by either weighing or paying or the shop so i get to talk to everyone and if i do the paying bit - i normally have to do stuff whilst the clapping happens
Some consultants make it better than others!
Not had the best start to the week this week - binged on Tuesday night - couldn't stop it & felt awful after it! & last night DH decided he wanted to go out for tea - not too bad as had mixed grill - what is the syns for a 'normal' sausage?
Back on it today & tomorrow i have day at home to do dissertation but might get out of the house away from food by going to my mums - no-one will be there & i am not tempted to go routing in her cupboards!
This non smoking lark is difficult - no-one warned me i wouldn't have much concentration & that i would have a painfully sore throat! but this is day 7!!! :j
Sorry for waffle xxx

I know the feeling. Most weeks I loose between 2 and 3lb Sometimes I wonder what people hope to achieve. I have to remember though, I am the only one there with enough spare tyres to put Mitchellin out of the tyre business. So I am going to loose more.
I'm in it for the long term. It's a life choice for me. I joined to instigate a lifestyle change.
My God it's sure as heck done that. Not only have I gotten to grips with my food, it's pulled the housework, de-clutter and personal quality of life along with it.
I have my syns but I don't eat chocolate. Didn't before I started SW, but I made up for it in biscuits, pastries, and sugary stuff. I point this out when I can. I've won SoW 5 of the 7 times it was possible for me to do so. I don't eat out much. It's cheaper to cook at home, or picnic it. There is nothing glamorous about queueing for 40 minutes for stale food that costs best part of £20, which 2 kids poke at and leave. It's stressful!
I enjoy exercise. Yes I know how weird. But I find that it cheers me up. Endorphins I know, but you try explaining that to someone that enjoys watching tv all night and day, has a desk job and just doesn't want to do more.
I think this is why I loose like I do. My personal choices in life - I can't expect others to live the awkward social ways I do, unless it's natural to them.
I always tell new starters only do what you mean to keep on doing, otherwise the habits will fail when you stop SW.
I think however, for my part, I think to much, worry too much, and should keep my nose out of other peoples lifes :rotfl:
Having wandered so well off track there, the point being, I mentioned to the consultant a couple of weeks back that I was worried that I was loosing so much and doing so well.
She asked : "Are you happy loosing that amount?"
well yes but no one else does.
"Then carry on doing what you do. You are here for you."
and in true MSE style "And getting your value for money out of it too"
Shellie,
That was a really honest report, very true and I can also equate my weight loss to your principles.
I look at it in the same way and cannot understand for the life of me why some people week after week queue up, pay the fee and stand in line bragging about how many curries, bottles of wine, mc donalds etc they have consumed and still really expect to lose and do well.
Some in line last night were comparing how many easter eggs they had eaten, what's that all about? I think they need a reality check.
I started with a friend at the end of May 2011, it was her suggestion that we go together for morale support, along the way she has had numerous excuses as to why she could not stick to plan, husbands birthday, daughters birthday, stepsons birthday, going on holiday, away for one week but having 2 off so that she can lose what she has put on, and then 3 weeks later comes back 10 pounds heavier, and so afterall she has managed to stop coming to class since just before christmas because she joined back and did not like what the scales had to say.
I see her most weeks but she tries to make a quick exit when she sees me because my other co workers cannot believe how much I have lost and how good I look ( their words not mine ) and she knows that they know we started this together and look where we both are today, a million miles apart. I keep her updated with text messages though but she has now given up replying to them, probably naffed off with herself.
The lady who weighs us has said on a few occasions that we should all take inspiration from me as I usually lose week on week without cheating. It is how it is, you only get out of it what you put into it, simple. :rotfl:
I am so near to target now and would have loved her to have been with me, together as we started, encouraging each other, but alas, no.
Off to eat my brekkie now, and chomp on some more apples :rotfl:
Total loss = 5 stone 12.5 lbs. / But now GAINED 1 STONE 1.5 LBS!!
46 weeks! :beer:0 -
Having just read the previous posts I feel somewhat guilty my 1.5lb gain this week:o I had a lovely time with family and took my eye off the ball. So on a trip to London shopping with DD yesterday I treated myself to a Pandora bracelet and one bead for my first half stone. I am going to wear it every day until I get to target and each time I lose half a stone DH will be buying another bead for it. He doesn't know this yet:p
DD said everytime you feel like cheating mum look at the bracelet and see how well you have done. So sweet for a 12yr old.
Well done all you lovely losers (I mean that in a weight losers way!)
You are inspiring me to behave. Had a delicious lunch yesterday, grilled asparagus and poached egg salad. Yummity yum yum. I shall be off to buy some asparagus today as am now craving it again. But it doesnt half make your wee stink:D
Good luck for the following week ladies and gents:TTotal weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0 -
Hi All,
Well I've got my Reveal voucher at home ready for Monday so I can "officially" join SW, my plan being to attend the sessions for a few weeks to kick-start me in a way!
I'm trying to roughly follow the SW plan (although tonight I'm going to a friends for chinese takeaway, d'oh!).
Mondays evening meal was a recipe from the a book called Quick Risotto Verde, which was free on Green, and rice with lots of veg. Could have done with a bit more flavour, but overall wise quite nice. Might put garlic and some more herbs in next time.
Tuesday was 2x crumpets for breakfast (probably not allowed on SW but needed eating), leftover rice dish for lunch, and then in the evening I did jacket potatos with vegetable/bean chilli. I put some mozerella on the jackets - there was 2 of us but it made 3 portions, and I used 60gr mozerella in total, so I think that would be allowed under the healthy extra? I had that with salad as well. Pudding was an aero mousse, not sure how many syns that would be. Was yummy though!
Weighed myself on Tuesday evening before dinner and was 11st 3lbs :-( want to get back down to just under 10st, as that's where I was at my happiest and most comfortable.
Anyway sorry for quite a long message, I think I'm going to need the support on here and I hope I'll be able to help others too.
Thanks :-)Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!

Been really good today as hoping for some sort of loss this week despite it being a short week for me.
Really cant wait to drop below 12 stone!! Havenrt weighed this low for approx 6/7 years!0 -
Well, have been shopping and got basics - pasta, beans. passata, mug shots etc.
Have a pre-planned meal out tonight so won't be able to be extra good (no chips though) planning to start tomorrow and try to get daughter to follow by cooking from scratch buying Alpen Light Bars for her packed lunch etc.
Wish me luck - I need it!!!!0
