Well I'm just back from my family meal out for Dad's 60th and I really enjoyed it.
I have been good and only had free food earlier in the day plus an alpen light bar before I went out to take the edge off my hunger.
At the meal I passed on starter and pudding and had a grilled sirloin steak with steamed veg and boiled potatoes for main followed by a cup of black coffee.... BUT I did have 3 large glasses of red wine. By God was it good. Pre-SW I would drink wine 3-4 nights a week at home but since joining SW I have stopped drinking at home unless we have visitors. As it is I haven't had wine since 3rd Feb but oh how I have missed it! Dad & I shared 2 bottles and I really don't grudge it at all - it's not every day that your Dad's 60. xMortgage Aug 22 £280,000

:T Hiyas all just had a nosey of last few pages of posts and think our class must be a good one as we regularily have 30 people staying of those at least 10 are target members so all the newbies get loads of input, i can see why the clapping drives people away tho but dont seem to be changing anytime soon and to be honest i hardly notice it now lol I do the weighing and hear all the excuses under the sun and what theyve been upto the ive had a chinese pizza hut a weekend hen party but thankfully 90% do actually lose regardless, even tonight 50 people had losses of over 70 lb easter bunny came n went thank god lol.... I was thinking about store cupboard essentials and was hoping you lovely folk would be able to recommend what your SW essentials would be?
Thanks
hey rosalitawelcome to the fold
my store cupboard staples are usually:
mugshots (the spicy sweet & sour ones are devine)
jars of cockles (my free treat when im peckish)
stock cubes and accompaniments ie, wuster juice, soy sauce, tabasco etc
baked beans (usually in microwavable pots)
passata ( i learnt very quickly this is invaluable)
dried pasta of all sortsI'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know
On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!0 -
morning loosers!
just a quick hello as I need to go to work... managed to catch up with you last night but was too tired to post(not enough hours in a day again...)
Cooked a very yummy 'risotto' last night: wild rice, chicken thighs(boneless and skinless), onion, mushrooms, red pepper, sweetcorn and small cubes of butternut squashlovely!
Also cooked some pudding rice with 200ml of ss milk and one cadbury highlights(so 2 syn if counting milk as HEA), I just had half of it for breakfast with banana and strawberries and it was ok, something different... It was much better when just cooked as it got quite hard and 'dry' once chilled but I might experiment a bit with it again
Still being really good too
hope you all have a good day!0 -

We have this too! I was a bit miffed last year when I know that the woman voted Woman of the Year had only lost half a stone! She is a cyclical dieter - pound off followed by a pound on!
Months on and i still don't think she's made it to a stone off!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

Hello, hope you don't mind but I new here and would like to join your thread. I'm rejoining SW shortly having done it a couple of years back but drifted off the straight and narrow and never could get my bum back into gear however going to have another go - and will be joining a group after Easter hols although I'm not a fan of the happy clappy brigade and have found groups a bit cringeworthy but I need that weekly weigh-in so will suck it up
!

well I am feeling a bit pleased with myself this am - I headed for one of my dangerzones last night and went to the pics - now I wold normally be totally snakked up with kettle chips, choc, sweets and pop!!! But last night I took a mini crunchie and a pocket full of grapes - they had that pop then in your mouth factor of sweets or popcorn but FREE!! I also know now once I am target I can take just one 'treat'/ snack and not have a total blow out.
Super pleased with myself and couldn't resist a sneaky midweek wi and have lost another 2 lb - that takes me past my first half stone!!
My storecupbaords seems to be similar to usual just less bread and junk!
pasta
rice
tinned toms/ passata
tuna
chickepeas
kidney beans
baked beans
Lots of seasoning like soy, sriracha chilli sauce, different vinegars, lime and lemon juice, worcester saucePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

slscarborough Lots of people at my group are like this too and they ask me how I consistantly lose. I often feel embarassed to have lost again!
I know the feeling. Most weeks I loose between 2 and 3lb Sometimes I wonder what people hope to achieve. I have to remember though, I am the only one there with enough spare tyres to put Mitchellin out of the tyre business. So I am going to loose more.
I'm in it for the long term. It's a life choice for me. I joined to instigate a lifestyle change.
My God it's sure as heck done that. Not only have I gotten to grips with my food, it's pulled the housework, de-clutter and personal quality of life along with it.
I have my syns but I don't eat chocolate. Didn't before I started SW, but I made up for it in biscuits, pastries, and sugary stuff. I point this out when I can. I've won SoW 5 of the 7 times it was possible for me to do so. I don't eat out much. It's cheaper to cook at home, or picnic it. There is nothing glamorous about queueing for 40 minutes for stale food that costs best part of £20, which 2 kids poke at and leave. It's stressful!
I enjoy exercise. Yes I know how weird. But I find that it cheers me up. Endorphins I know, but you try explaining that to someone that enjoys watching tv all night and day, has a desk job and just doesn't want to do more.
I think this is why I loose like I do. My personal choices in life - I can't expect others to live the awkward social ways I do, unless it's natural to them.
I always tell new starters only do what you mean to keep on doing, otherwise the habits will fail when you stop SW.
I think however, for my part, I think to much, worry too much, and should keep my nose out of other peoples lifes :rotfl:
Having wandered so well off track there, the point being, I mentioned to the consultant a couple of weeks back that I was worried that I was loosing so much and doing so well.
She asked : "Are you happy loosing that amount?"
well yes but no one else does.
"Then carry on doing what you do. You are here for you."
and in true MSE style "And getting your value for money out of it too"
