Doesn't Balsamic vinegar have a much higher sugar content than ordinary vinegar ? I can't remember it ever being free.

  • Just looked up my book and vinegar - all varieties is free.

Went to IKEA and had salmon and green beans (didn't have the chips - halo shining!) and a large salad bar salad with it. There was some kind of mustard dressing on the salmon and I had lemon and olive oil on the salad but just a drop of it to wet it.

    :Ton resisiting the chips!

I checked my books too and balsamic is definitely free (only the made up dressings have syns). Someone at my group makes fake Pimms with balsamic. It uses 1 2 ltr bottle diet lemonade,
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar. plus your strawberries and cucumber slices or whatever you like to add. I've tasted it and it's quite refreshing for an alcohol free drink.

Hi All, Just popping in for some inspiration. I plan on doing extra easy in the New Year. Was doing well on red/green days and then found out I was expecting a baba. Fully intended on swapping to extra easy throughout the pregnancy then felt too sick to do anything and when my appetite did come back it didn't particularly want anything healthy :o

The only way I know I'll do extra easy and do it well with a newborn is if I cook & freeze slimming world type meals (which I do anyway - just not so slimming friendly at the moment) and as my freezer is almost empty I'm just after a bit of inspiration.

Hopefully it will be easier this time than red/green days as I won't be at work so I can be a bit more experimental with fruit and veg (have a sensitive stomach) and also have a microwave/cooker which we don't have access to at work. I'd be quite happy with a jacket potato/cottage cheese/tuna etc. at home or a bowl of soup for lunch but can't have anything like that at work.

I think breakfast is where I will struggle as I can't eat any fibre so all B's are off the menu except for the nimble bread white. I might try and have cereal (rice krispies are all I can eat) for my breakfast and if I still lose weight I'll class that as a B even though it should strictly be sinned. I guess I can have egg and bacon but I'd probably have to pre-cook the bacon as I wouldn't have time/energy with a newborn in the mornings.

    Any good suggestions for breakfasts?

So I might be lurking around for a bit but just wanted to say hello again as this thread was really helpful last time.
  • Hi Ammonite - welcome back and congrats on the upcoming big event!

I usually have eggs for breakfast and make a big vegetable frittata which does me for 3 or 4 days depending on the size and what I cook it in. You can also use the same mixture to make breakfast muffins and that with some baked beans and/or a chopped salad is a really healthy meal.

Alternatively how about making a fruit smoothie - if you put banana in with some other fruits it bulks it up and fills you up.

Good luck and we're all here to support you.

    i Second fritatta :)

Don't forget whizzed up fruit has syns though. I pre cook bacon and ding it in the microwave for 10 seconds

I freeze baked bean lasagne, curries, spag bol, veggie black bean, pilau rice, savoury rice, soups, the options are endless.

    Congrats on the baby :)

I also used to freeze ready made toasties. I would sandwich in two rounds of bread with half a portion of HEA cheese (or all - depended on my mood). Freeze them in a sandwich bag and take from the freezer the night before. If you spray the frying pan with fry light and fry it on both sides, it goes all crispy yummy, and is also good cool taken to work. I used t omake up two packs of bacon at a whole time. Yum, might have to do those again.

Ammonite Bed time took much longer than expected  I'd say give yourself 6-8 weeks after baby is born before you're fully on plan. Not saying go off on a binge :rotfl: but not sure if this is your first baby? If not you'l know all this but the best thing to do is make sure you're eating, doesn't matter what just as long as you are, I found a lot of the time it would hit 6pm and I'd have had nothing all day.

If you are planning on feeding yourself you need to keep your energy levels up, things like home made flapjacks with dried fruit (these freeze well and de-frost in about 15 minutes) are brilliant for milk supply and good for energy levels too. I ate a lot of the time one handed, so continually snacked on things like bananas, apples, toast. I would have found it hard to stick with either 1 or 2 HEB, as it was using those that meant I could have a quick snack. My boy didn't sleep though and wouldn't be prised from my side without screaming the place down (highly recommend a sling!)

I'm not saying it's not possible, but I'd say get yourself sorted, make sure you're eating, try your best to stick to healthy wholesome foods, but I wouldn't worry about being fully on plan for the first few weeks at least. You need a sugar rush in the middle of the night, believe me. Lastly congratulations :) xxx
