    That's very interesting ES.

I'm going to try the chicken bhuna recipe from the takeaway bit off the new magazine tonight.

    Morning all

We had a lovely meal last night for Mam's 60th. I went for smoked duck & orange salad for starter - asked for it with no dressing; The duck was v lean and tender and tehre was no fat or skin on it. Main coursewas a sirloin steak with boiled tatties & veg - no butter. For pudding I had a cup of black coffee - halo is shining here! .... then I washed it all down with a bottle of red wine :( - well it was my birthday too! And I have only had 3 syns all week.

I am missing WI on Monday due to work but trying v hard not to fall into the "wayhey no weigh day" trap and trough like crazy! I really want this weight loss journey to continue, I have had my detour over July and spent the first couple of weeks of August getting it off so I am determined to keep going! 5st for Xmas is my target which is another 20lb away.

Beware the Chicken Bhuna recipe! This last appeared in a magazine about 2 years ago. I tried it and it was a disaster! Basically you have a heap of peppers, onion, chicken, spring greens and peas and you're trying to get it all to cook down into just 100g of yogurt and the juice of a lemon! I ended up having to rescue it with a can of tomatoes and some puree. It's a good, curry flavour but the recipe wouldn't work for me and I ended up with this pan of hot mush which I insisted we ate as the chicken was expensive. I emailed SW about it and eventually got a response saying it had an error in it but I don't notice any changes.

I read that article in this morning's paper evilsquid and thought my virtual friends on here immediately. Thanks for passing it on. I didn't know about the link with depression but I've always though that too much sugar (however 'natural') couldn't be a good thing.

Glad you and your mum had a good birthday kandfsmam. Your meal sounds tasty as well as angelic. :A

I'm building in a few extras today so won't go into details. I do have a SW supper planned:
Gammon steak, roast sweet potatoes, peas, mushrooms and tomatoes

Any advice about the best way to do sweet potatoes: do you boil them first? how long? temperature to cook them at? I never seem to get a very good result.

i've always thought that too, sugar is still sugar no matter where it comes from! i remember reading a while back that our 5 a day should be more like 4 portions of veg and one of fruit, not 5 of either in any combination.

i like doing sweet potato wedges, bung them in the oven with some salt and pepper and i like either paprika or rosemary on mine and either HEB oil or fry light. they do take a while to cook though, at least 30 mins and longer if your wedges are bigger. i put mine in at 180 degrees.

This is the day which comes around all too quickly where I sit with my elderly Mum and watch her eat fish and chips!:rotfl::rotfl:I have a salad and a small fishcake and savour every mouthful.

Ahh well, the belt on my jeans keeps going in by an inch so it will all be worth it.:j

I believe I am now the lightest I have been for about 10 years. I will double check that in old diaries because I find that amazing. Hope I'm correct.

Hello, I started SW this Monday, I can't really afford to go to classes as I'm now a SAHM to my little boy and money is tight. I'm wondering if I can join you all? :)

I have had some EE days this week but I am struggling with only having 1 HEA & 1 HEB, and also with getting a third super free at every meal. So I've decided to give green and red a go.

Hopefully if I post some of my meal plans up here, you can all keep me right. Some of you have done so well.

I ran 4 miles today which I'm hoping to do once or twice a week as and when I get the time x

Gosh I've read so many posts in one go!!!!:o

Beanie - what's happened you've gone off track? Have you thought about maybe still writing up what you're eating? Putting it in black and white may shock you into action. You've done so well - what can help motivate you? is it convenience eating? comfort? Hope you are able to get right back on track xxx

Kand - your menu for dinner seems fine to me!!! ok you had a bottle of wine, but if you've only had 3 syns all week, i wouldn't let it bother you. I had a holiday week recently and it's very tempting to think - oh well, i've x days to offset y = but at the end of the day, the only person you're kidding is yourself. I think a bottle of wine was well deserved for your birthday :D

Evil - nice to see you posting again? Hope you're able to break the cycle. Can you try mixing things up with completely new or different foods/menus?

Maman - your dinners always sound so lovely :)

Med Mum - glad to see you back on track. Go get em girl

Sarah - glad to hear good news and that you're keeping well. :D

Apologies to those I've missed. Welcome Gilly

I've had a good week. Will post up my menus. I'm doing 100 syns again this week to see what happens. All else about the plan is normal EE days.

    yesterday

B - beans on toas HEB, yog
L - Half pack pasta sauce, yog
D - Home made rice and black bean made with quorn and mstly veg (peppers, onion, celery, carrots, courgette) .
    S - 2 banana, 3 clems, a pink grapefruit, 2 little tubs strawbs, 2/3 a melon , cappucino at hairdressers HEA
    Syns - caramel 9.5, 2 rums 8
    Walked 30 mins.
Weekly syn total so far is 44/100

Todays menu is sparse so far
B - melon, strawbs, grapes, yog
L - half pack pasta sauce with cheese
D - Chicken chow mein with fried rice (11), lots of rum :D
    Cycled 20, walked 15

I will eat a load of fruit later on - clems, grapes, strawbs, peaches. And a cereal bar tonight for my HEB or toast if im hungry

Taking chinese off my syns = 55 used out of 100. The chinese does me for 3-4 meals at the moment though so those 11 syns are well spent as i can have chinese for breakfast tomo if the desire takes me :p:o
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
