Thanks Maman, a snack tin of my sons own i dont think would work. The bits he has half inched out the fridge werent even mine to start with, its my sisters picnic bits that she has left here while she were out for the day!

When we dont have company i only buy a multi pack of crisps for the pair of us with either 6/7 packets in so there should be enough for the week and then the same with the dairy milk little ones, a 6 pack to spread out over the week but these are kept in my bedroom so he has to ask for them. He is fine with mugshots and the likes to have as snacks and he knows what he can and cant have its just that the minute i leave him at home he goes on the rampage. I do think though after the chat and WI last night we may have turned a corner and he has gotten his head back in the right place. Todays a new day so lets see where it takes us.

Not decided what we are eating today as waiting to hear from sis what her plans are so i can sort out around that.

Hope you have a lovely meal Fluff.

Could you try planning his treats into his daily plan so he has something to look forward to?
I love chocolate so always save 6 syns for a curlywurly at night. That way I have something to look forward to & am less tempted to eat junk by knowing i've got my chocolate to enjoy with a cup of tea while slobbing on the sofa.

    Morning folks,

Well done Poohbear and Stef on your losses. Stef- it sounds like you are having a real struggle with your son. Don't have any advice but you're doing everything you can to help him and you can't do any more than that, as you say he has to do it for himself. Hope things improve x

Gettingthere- that is hilarious, well done you! Would love to have seen their face when you said how much you'd lost!

TIE- going to try that curry, looked lovely on the telly but as you say, may need a few tweaks to make it SW friendly.
I can't be bothered chopping vegetables or making anything that is remotely healthy as it's just too much like hard work.

Good to hear you're feeling more positive, and the personal trainer sounds fab! The bit I've quoted above sounds just like me this week- could not be bothered with preparing healthy stuff :( Last night we ended up having a different tea to what was (loosely) planned, yet again - didn't fancy stir fry so had pitta bread 'pizzas', SW chips and Linda Mc rosemary & onion sausage. All on plan and within syns but not particularly healthy or 'good'. That sums up my week really, on plan but not great. Have looked at the menu for tonight's meal out (Mexican) and pretty much chosen what I think sounds the healthiest (and lightest- never really feel like eating when drinking either) so hopefully the saved syns will cover it, and will try not to get too drunk as avoiding junk when hungover is painful!

This week has also suffered from a chronic lack of exercise - no walking, nothing :o Long term back problem has been playing up but it's no excuse. Will aim to do better next week, but I have a meeting with my boss next week to see if my contract is to be renewed (problem of working in academia = mainly short term contracts, another source of worry for both me and OH as we're both in the same boat) - if it is then I'm going to buy a bike via the cycle to work scheme and then there's no excuse because I'll have to do what it says on the tin and cycle to work! :D

    EE today:
    B: Bran flakes (B), milk (A), banana
    L: Egg mayo sandwich (B & 0.5), nectarine
    T: Chicken tostada (saved syns)
S: Shape yogurt, alcohol (saved syns)

Have a good day and a great weekend everyone :)

    Weight loss - Apr '12 -Sept '13: 95lb
  • Morning everyone, just caught up from wed thread firstly i lost half a pound ok its a loss but after 2 100% weeks not too happy lol, but sticking with it upping food in general and hoping for a better loss this week.

Stef- iv been on both sides regarding your son I have a 24 year old who following me has always had a problem with weight but sadly we done nothing about it for far to many years I was 27 stone joining slimming world and my son started at 20 stone I'm now bordering 20 and he's at 12 stone but fit beyond belief, running 1/2 marathon in October :T, but he done his in a year, when he was 21.... His eating habits are still totally messed up tho he had healthy breakfast, takes a s/w meal to work daily but will graze constantly at the fridge to the extent my hubby and I have such rows food us so expensive now and we all eat healthy even my 5 year old but if its not nailed down its gone but the only food in the house is healthy, my little un has his treats but we never keep a stock of goodies apart from,my curly wurlys n yoghurts etc, I think your doing the best you can but stick to your guns and stand by what you told him that your doing s/w no matter what your not on ya own,we have a load of young uns in group and as I do the weighing I know most are really up and down but the ones that are losing are the ones that are included in groups make choices in meals and help out cooking, also locally there's a young persons gym that some have joined and have free coaching if he doesn't have a lot of friends outside of school it can be hard filling that boredom gap when you've always filled it with picking .... Sorry its a huge post but I know how u n he feels as most of my downfalls come from low self esteem from crappy diets from 7 n up from my parents...god I wish they had found slimming world lol but only he can do it stef no matter how well intentionef our offers of help are we can only do so much,x

  • Good post Karen and I totally understand your feelings about half pound loss - that's the way I feel most of the time and why I get so down about it.

Well it really helped me to whinge on here yesterday and I'm glad I took myself in hand. I've been up and down the scale since starting SW at the beginning of the year and still only 2kg down since I started. All I can do is say to myself that at least it's a loss and I have to just put it behind me and move on.

So today, having spent a fortune on SW food last night, I've been in the kitchen and I'm back on plan -

snack - large herbal tea, banana
breakfast - 2 slices wm bread (B), large portion of HM ratatouille, 2 fried eggs (in Frylight)
lunch - wm pasta, large portion of HM ratatouille, 45g grated mozzarella (A)
snack - FF natural yoghurt, diet jelly, frozen berries
dinner - chickpea & veg soup, chicken, SW roast potatoes, beetroot salad, Israeli salad, 2 tblspns techina dressing (6)

I've drunk one litre of water so far and another to drink. Plan to get on the treadmill for 15 mins - not much but as I haven't done any exercise for a long time I'm basically starting again. If I can walk for longer I will.

Meals planned now for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

well done medmum. Keep it up.

Well, I'm happy to announce that I'm now past the 12 week mark of my pregnancy, so feeling a bit more secure, and what's more, I've not put on any weight yet thanks to SW and calorie counting. So feeling very pleased. My weight goes up and down all the time by a couple of pounds but I'm still well within my normal range. Pleased as punch as I'm so determined not to balloon in this pregnancy.
  • So happy for you Sarah and PG you keep well and healthy for the rest of the time.

Just read your post Karen. :T Your passion to do something about your weight really came across along with the pitfalls. I don't have sons but friends tell me it's common for them to eat anything that isn't nailed down.;) I think you're right to up your eating in general. I tend to have massive portions of food at mealtimes which seems to stop me wanting to snack. I just need to ensure that massive amounts of SFs are planned in.

Strangely, only last night I was thinking about restaurants probably prompted by the take-away booklet. I'm sure SW would never agree to accreditation but any restaurant that produced good, tasty food that was SW (or any diet/eating plan)friendly could do really well. Many people say that eating out is one of the hardest parts of the plan. I remember someone on here saying they had a man at their group who ran a restaurant and would accommodate SW. We have a woman at our group (not a member) who sets up a stall selling f & v but also makes tubs of SW friendly soups. They're very popular with people who are short of time/don't cook etc.

Haven't done my meal plan or food shop yet this week. So far, had kippers and toast so good SW friendly breakfast. Off to check my freezer list and storecupboard then work from there.

    ETA: Great news sarah.

there is a 'man in a van' that sells SW ready meals at a friends class. he sells prepared SW chips (ready for cooking) and things like curries, pies etc. ive never seen him but i know hes rather popular too
I'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know
