  • can someone please tell me how to cope with working shifts and trying to lose weight?? i had been at target up until May and then my shifts changed. I go from early morning shifts then do nights. On the days when I do earlies I seem to eat all day to help me stay awake then on the nights I am hungry. I have put on just over half a stone and cannot seem to shift it, always tired and lacking in energy but I know that I when I exercise I feel much better and look better but cannot get the energy or stamina to do it now! Advice please? I'd love to get this half stone off, from experience I could do it in a few weeks but it feels impossibe at the minute.

    Thank you Starfish1975

I'm from Belfast - is that the Asda one? Ive looked beside all the tinned curry etc, in fact - I have checked everywhere.....if I knew they had it somewhere, I might drive & stock up! lol

I was in the strabane Asda store today - and seen it in stock. It was with the canned curries and hotdogs!
  • You are in a very stressful time - baby & lack of sleep and hormones and now a money drop too. I remember this time all to well. Always yelling and stressing and worrying. My youngest was 16 months when I joined slimming world and it was the best thing for me, the food optimising led to food shopping optimising. I started to cook/make everything myself. Tonight it's chicken nuggets! (SYN FREE :D)
However I know that had I started SW when you have - I wouldn't have lasted 3 weeks! Well done for sticking at it!

Thanks so much for your kind words Shellie - it really is noce to know that someone can relate to how we feel! Thank god I am feeling in a much better place today! I think I am getting into a rut being stuck at home - need to start getting out and about more!!

I did a good shop today and have planned my meals for a week. A local butcher does Slimming world products - all Syn free - so I bought their value pack - Its £19.99 but you do get a good range of items and they are very tasty... Ex Lean mince, 5 chicken fillets, 4 steak burgers, 8 pork & apple burgers and Lb of sausages. So should feed myself, OH and 10 yo daughter for a week worths of dinners!

I had the area manager in group last thursday and we were all told NO butcher has the right to advertise their goods as SW friendly as all endorsements were taken away after too many disputes when recipes changed and SW werent contacted to have the items approved. This was explained to us in depth that originally any butchers/bakers etc originally paid a fee to SW, who in turn sent of items from the ranges for testing to show they were within the ranges accepted. Then improvements were made to products and SW werent informed so it changed the make up of the items leaving very few within the acceptable ranges so SW took away all accreditations from all sources. Went onto say that even the items given in the handbooks should always be monitored for new improved ranges as they may no longer have the same syn values.
For a butcher to claim their products are EL they have to show proof that theres less than 5% fat otherwise you take your chances. From what we were told one woman tried to sue SW after gaining weight following the plan and using an approved supplier who had not informed SW of changes in produce this is what sparked off the removal of approval.

There was a similar item on FB lately where a lady set up a page as Slimming world cake lady. She altered recipes to be SW friendly, broke down ingredients to work out syn values etc and posted an online recipe ebook that several subscribers paid for. Within a couple of days SW intervened and forced her to close down threatening court action for using the SW trademark and trying to associate herself with them.

Hi everyone, is there room for one more?

I have dabbled with SW over a few months but my head wasn't really in the right place so i lost 7lbs, put them on etc!

Suddenly and i'm not sure why i have had a lightbulb moment. I rejined on Wednesday and paid for a 12 week countdown. I know its expensive but i wanted to show my commitment.

I have had a brilliant first week and have enjoyed it, i almost don;t fel i am on a diet.
B - Melon, blueberries, shape fat free yogurt
    Snack - Apple
L - Batchelors syn free quiche and salad
D - SW spaghetti bolognese (made with 5% fat mince, quorn mince, carrot, courgette, peppers, onion, garlic and celery to get the SF veg on.) Followed by strawberries and yogurt.

I also had an options hot chocolate and skimmed milk for my A and 2 alpen bars for my B.

I have walked my dog for miles this week, the poor thing doesn't know whats hit him. I am hoping for a good weight loss but am struggling with constipation and being 'egg bound!' I've had to take fibregel today which i hate doing but i hate being constipated as well. I would have thought with all of the fruit and veg i am eating it would be the opposite but it must the increase in eggs.
Trying to save money and always open to ideas and expecting our first child in March 2015.
  • Thanks for the update Step!! Very interesting! It was the consultant in our group a few weeks ago that was telling us about the range available. I am not going to group this week but will ask her about it next week!!

Welcome first and foremost. Secondly, i posted a couple of weeks ago that i was feeling rather blocked and monitored what i were drinking. I cut out caffeine so swapped to decaff coffee, drank loads more water and things started to ease. Now everything has gone back to normal and hoping it stays that way.
