Glad you like it kjmtidea. x
I've had another good day today - out for tea tomorrow night for our anniversary so looking forward to that; gonna go for either steak or gammon steak with new tatties & veg though I might have a wee cheeky glass of red to go with it... well 15 years of marriage has to be worth a glass of vino.Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Hello all, I think this thread could become my new best friend in the battle against the bulge. I have been with SW for 10 weeks now anot lost 1st 11 lb. I have 3lb to go until my next award and 7lb until my club 10 but I am struggling.
I am mostly struggling with snacking on naughty things that aren't high in syns but I eat lotss of them. A prime example are pink 'n'whites at 2.5 syns each. Does anyone have any suggestions for avoiding these types of things and pleeeaaasseee don't say mullerlight because if I see another one of those things I am going to throw it at someone.
Thanks slimmers xxxxx
Plan plan plan, I'd say if your struggling to reign in ya Syns keep very little of your vices at home, have u tried the snack tin, decide how many Syns your allowing yaself for the week, and fill a tin with ya faves, could be a pack of pink n whites along with a few mini bottles of wine, option drinks some quavers curly wurlys, I don't miss booze but just having my goodys there kinda stops the picking mine always have a few bits left come weigh in but I also know when its gone its gone works for me, and I use 70 Syns so I got 5 left per day for sauces etc... If that's not your thing as hard as it is don't buy them or give half a pack away it can be torture sometimes knowing crisps ate here so only buy just enough xSW loss 7st 4lb

if you are getting genuinely hungry often enough to want a large amount snacks, look at eating either more free food at dinner eg, an extra bit of veggies or a little bit more pasta or meat. that might keep you full so you aren't getting hungry and reaching for them. Or if you fancy, change to 5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 and snacks.
if you cant keep snacks in the house and leave them alone, the only way is to not buy them. either do the shop online so you genuinely aren't tempted by the choccy and biscuit aisles or learn to steer yourself clear and stick to the outside of the supermarkets. generally, most of the healthy and fresh stuff is around the outskirts of the supermarkets with the idea that as you trail around the whole place for your fruit, veg, meat, milk, eggs and bread that are all kept at opposite ends of the store, you will be passing the processed stuff and if you see it, you will at least consider buying it, or be tempted by a bogof offer.
if i want choccy and there is none in, the craving soon goes when i realise it will be a trudge to the shop and nearly £1 for one bar if i go and get one. the free food thats infront of me with no trip out involved suddenly becomes alot more appealing.
i found that viewing syns from the perspective of "i can have this if i really want, but i personally am making the choice not to this time and to have X instead" helped me get over chocolate. the minute i say "i cant have this" and "ohh its naughty!" its like saying "i want it all and i want it RIGHT NOW!"
i found mugshots were good snacks. they are free or low syn depending on type on EE/G, a substantial snack and because they take longer to prepare and eat than just reaching for choccy, i found that they really satisfied the cravings that were purely boredom and stopped me feeling deprived.
I also had a highlights or a hifi bar if i got a bad craving. half the time, i just wanted something to occupy me or the taste of it and they deal with both those while being low syn/HEB. personally i never syn hifi bars, if i can have a kitkat or treat bar for 6 syns i'd rather have the small amount of proper choccy. hifis were my "secret" extra choccy for when i wanted to feel decadent :rotfl:
Edit: christ i just realised how "holier than thou" i sound :rotfl: i do still eat choccy, but i used to be terrible. i started my day with a starbucks chocolate covered marshmallow twizzle then had a dairy milk or a dubble bar at break, followed by more chocolate when i got home. prob should also add i realised that milk was sending my skin crazy so i completely ditched milk for a good few months and choccy had to go too. i just never really got the taste for it back!0 -

Good morning all.
Was rather naughty yesterday on a trip into Birmingham but not totally blown things. Before coming home hubby suggested getting a cuppa so he persuaded me into having a cream tea - shared with DS so not as bad as it could have been so half a scone each. Must say i prefered it to having a whole one and seem more filling too.
Todays meals are back on track though. EE day.
B, full english - quorn sos, bacon, mush, beans, toms and eggs. Apple.
L, leek and pot soup with bread (heb)
T, savoury mince and mash with cauli and green beans.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j
DD 1994, DS 1996 AND DS 1997

Personally I think Syns is the wrong name ad often whilst slimming the guilt of having "naughty" food is awful, but they are there to be used and moat have better losses so whilst we need to change our eating ways if we fancy choc or crisps or wine the plan us so fab we can have them, perhaps we should just be a bit kinder to ourselves and enjoy our niceys xSW loss 7st 4lb

I found looking it as a healthy eating plan and not slimming helped. When i viewed it as I can eat a dairy milk a day if I really wanted but this prob isn't the best thing for me to do every single day in the long term my perception of it shifted. I started off with eating nearly all my syns a day in chocolate then I really missed things like butter and sauces. For me they were the little things that seem so trivial but can really make a meal. I also got sick of having nothing to put on my ryvitas back in the days before it was publicised that Philly was hea and my consultant insisted it was always a syn.
Now I try to make sure that I do have things like this, like a dessert if I'm out for a meal, but they are a treat and not every single day. I could only manage it after finding my own acceptable replacement snacks though and even those have chaged the longer ive been on SW. i dont touch highlights now, i think sweetners make me even hungrier for more food now. It might just be trial and error to see exactly what works for everyone.0 -
ok so i have only just woken up and therefore havent actually eaten anything yet, (i know, im a lazy moo:o) but i had a sneaky look at the scales in my pj bottoms and a vest top. and it says ive lost 2.5lbs!
:D:D:D:D hopefully it is the first of many and that im on track to make my target for the 6th sept (or as close to the target as i can get)
sorry, just in a really good mood now :j

i was like that at the very start too! sounds silly, but i didnt realise how important something like butter was, or things like cranberry sauce lolI'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know

Well done fluff, that's a really good loss. Very motivating.:T
I like to save the majority of my syns for weekends as I tend to be an 'all or nothing' sort of person. I'd prefer to have the option of drinking several glasses of wine than know I can have one on a weeknight but stop at just the one. I probably keep keep about 25 syns for cornflour in gravy and other sauces and a bit of cheese to make recipes a bit more interesting across the week. There are lots of ways of 'managing ' SW to fit your preferred lifestyle. I know if I hadn't been able to do that I'd have given up long ago.0 -
Well done Fluff... stay on the straight and narrow if you can.
"I started off with eating nearly all my syns a day in chocolate then I really missed things like butter and sauces. For me they were the little things that seem so trivial but can really make a meal."
Before I started slimming world I swore off chocolate. I can't have "A bit" of it..I have to have all. I don't have the will power for "a bit" and slimming world needs a monumental level of willpower that way. So other than the kids smarties and buttons there isn't any - aside from the Rocky Road. Even that I look at it and think I'm hungry and that tiny bar isn't enough to make me not hungry. I am such a lazy lass sometimes I can't be bothered to do more than open one cupboard door.
Maman I thicken my gravy with the water from the potatoes.. or my gravy ends up with cornflour lumps. :rotfl:
Now I try to make sure that I do have things like this, like a dessert if I'm out for a meal, but they are a treat and not every single day.
same here. I am in this to "stick" I want to change habits not just lose it and put it back on. evilsquid1603 thank you for putting it into words!
kandfs mam Hope you have a lovely time!
With regard to snacking and food planning....
Today is hard work for hubby. He is moping about the house compaining he is hungry, moaning that he is hungry 30 minutes after eating at work too.
So breakfast (7am) was skinny lizzy sausages *1 syn*x2 Eggs fluffed with cottage cheese, bacon and beans. He was hungry before 10.30 he had some chicken stew. I had a banana. Tired of apples.
After a walk to tescos (Shape yoghurts!) and market (Enough meat for 2 weeks for £20) listening to both him and the kids complaining that 2 miles was too far ( but they happily walk 3 without complaint to the train station) and that he was again hungry, blood sugars were low...(no he isn't a doctor) I decided to put a stop to it. I figured he was over superfreeing (fills you for a short time) and avoiding the syn based stuff. So the plan was to find the "filling" foods and show him how it's done.
Lunch (2pm) was Jacket potato smoothered in tescos extra light soft cheese with garlic. This was served on a bed of mix leaf salad, peppers, sweetcorn, pickled onions and ham. Topped with kraft light salad dressing.
Not a word out of him yet.Though he is missing the "fat" content of things.
Tonight we are having Fried [STRIKE]Rice[/STRIKE] Noodles and [STRIKE]Lemon[/STRIKE] pinapple [STRIKE]chicken[/STRIKE] pork from this months mag with stir fry veg pack a-la tesco.
I plan on using some of the milk from the Healthy Extra and a spoonful of tescos value low fat hot choc with a little bit of sweetner for a 1 syn mug full of hot choc later on while listing half the kids wardrobe that doesn't fit on ebay!!!0
