Morning Gang.
Hubby has set off with enough food to feed an army.Wonder how much he'll return with Syn free pasta, Fried Rice, Salad, apple, orange, mugshot... should see him good for seven hours right?
Whole family was up at 12 last night - still messed up with the time difference *yawn*
My day started with weetabix & strawberries drizzled with activia vanilla yoghurt. Lunch will be a tuna salad and rivita. \Finishing with homemade chicken nuggets sw chips and sweetcorn/salad.
Flat Eric have a look for some menu inspiration, look through your fridge/freezer and Change your food focus to money saving focus... see if that helps.

Morning all,
MM - glad you're feeling ok and had a nice weekend. Sounds like you're motivated too, go you!
ShellieHolly & Evilsquid - glad you enjoyed your hols and are back on the straight and narrow already, well done!TakeItEazy wrote: »Anyone been watching the Hairy Dieters? Some nice recipes which although low calorie already could also be made sw friendly. Am def gonna do the cassoulet and the skinny beef lasagne. Hubby wants to try the minced beef and potato pies [made with pizza dough] from last nights programme so will do them for him and son. Might try one myself as its low calorie even though am not sure how to work out the syn value.
Keep the faith peeps :A
I was going to post about this today - caught up with the latest episode on Friday and made the cassoulet yesterday. It was lovely and has made 6 portions, but they aren't huge (although could bulk it out with spuds or something I suppose) and tbh it's not cheap to make since it contains sausages, chicken and gammon. Still, nice as a one off. Not sure the lasagne is any better than normal SW lasagne though, unless you're having a red day (see mini-rant below!)I've been watching the programme too and enjoying it. Like you said, it has good ideas for healthy meals that are a 'good plate of food' as they keep saying. I'm not sure how friendly you could make the pies though. DH asked whether we should have wraps and I looked up the syns. One wrap was more than two slices of bread and couldn't count as HEX.
I think the safest thing for pies would be to just make a syn free filling and a pastry topping and syn that. They seemed a bit obsessed with having things portable last night but when they went for the picnic their mates brought stuff in boxes. Personally I'd have done the Nicoise properly with new potatoes and put it in a box.
I am still a bit unsure what to make of it really. Some of the recipes sound lovely (like the chicken korma) and I think the guys are great, but it seems to me to be misinforming people slightly and also be getting a little extreme - I mean, 1200 cals a day for big blokes like that, really? Agree about the wraps, and I also took issue with the lasagne in the first week - they kept stressing that calories were being reduced by replacing the pasta with leeks when really this was unnecessary when the bulk of the savings were from the leaner mince and less cheese. Personally I'll stick to SW style real pasta with EL mince and a quark, egg & bit of cheese topping. Right, rant over :rotfl:Just polishing my halo.:rotfl:
I took my elderly Mum out for her treat today. Fish & Chips!
We sit in this chippy and she has F & C and I have a fishcake and a plate of salad. It is very, very tempting as she always says "I can't eat all these chip, do you want some?" But I never give in.
What do other people feel good about passing up on?
Well done! I always feel good about saying no to cake in work - we seem to have an occasion that calls for cake every other week but I think people have got used to me politely refusing now and tbh, I rarely feel like I'm missing out. Will be interesting to hear what other people's answers are
Just realised I forgot to post on Fri, oops! Was pretty busy in work so never thought. Anyway, I've written enough for both days so will move straight onto today's plan - EE:
B: Bran flakes (B), milk (A), banana
L: Cassoulet, nectarine
T: TBC - poss share a Chinese with OH (approx 5 syns)
S: Strawberries, Shape yog, maybe a biscuit
WI tonight - been good so fingers crossed for a loss to get into that next number! Also got taster evening so have made some SW Ferrero Rocher. Tried one last night and they're a bit crumbly (not enough Nutella I think) but taste good! Good luck all other WIers2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
2012: [STRIKE]Start renovating new house (aka open enormous can of worms)[/STRIKE] _pale_
2013: [STRIKE]Lose weight[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]get fit[/STRIKE] and FINISH THE HOUSE!
Weight loss - Apr '12 -Sept '13: 95lb0 -
Hi there everyone, is it okay for me to join you all?
I've been doing sw on and off for 10 yrs- always doing quite well although I have never got to target- about 7lbs off.
I had twins 13 months ago and lost 1st7 doing a mix of VLCD and sw, got too complacent and liked my social life and have regained 11lbs  so I started again yesterday with determinationto finally 'get to target'. I want tyo lose the 11lbs i've gained then an additional 7lb and see how I feel then although that's not target but I should feel happier and fingers crossed a size 10-12.
Just been reading about M2M- this was around at the very beginning and I remember it although I never did it, generally I stuck to green days as I found it easier and more filling. EE I tried when I rejoined last yr but after sticking to it 100% i gained 2lb at first WI so decided to scrap the idea but I loved the ease of it, so I thinking M2M is the next best thing? especially as you can have 2 a & b HE's!!
So far today I've had fruit and muller light for breakie, tea will be homemade burgers using 2 heB's for buns and salad and homemade coleslaw. Just need to think about lunch! x0 -

Hubby made the cassoulet too and we all agreed it was very tasty but we agree it needed spuds. Price wise I think the sausages were the most expensive, we used 91% meat so bit pricey. We used a cheap whole chicken which hubby skinned and deboned. The gammon was cheap slices from farm foods. I do agree we wouldn't have it every week though.
I haven't tried the lasagne yet as leeks aren't big enough. Do agree about the calorie bit though also would miss the pastabut hubby wants to give it a go. Am going to do the korma this week so will let you know how it turns out.
Just realised I haven't posted my wi's for a while, have lost 1.5lb the last 2 weeks which am delighted with as makes a change from gains.
Well done all losers and hugs to those in need, keep the faith people :A:AIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Hi guys...first weigh in tonight (eek!!) had a mainly good week - however I had such a huge binge the couple of days before I weighed in for the first time last week that I'm sure I gained a couple more pounds off that so time will tell how things go!
Just wondering what you guys do when you have an evening weigh in - I normally would weigh at home starkers and first thing in the morning - obviously out of the question if I'm going to be allowed back to group!
Also what do you do for food on a weigh in day? I was thinking about keeping it light and also I don't know what to do about liquids...I normally drink a couple of L a day of water but don't want my good efforts lost on the scales because of fluid...what you think?0 -
Another 2lb off for me & I was gobsmacked to get Woman of the Year:o I cried.
Good luck at WI Blodwen & Ginger

Normally on WI day (when I was at group, going it alone this time) I would eat quite light and stop drinking a few hrs before WI and take a banana and apple or something with me to eat after I've WI until I got home. Some people would say to continue to eat and drink normally as long as you did it every week to get a true picture of the losses. Like some people eat their tea before they go so they know their loss is 'genuine' It's up to you x0
