  • Hi

I live in America now but am starting SW today. I have all the lists so far apart from the eating out one and I have trailed the net for 2 hours plus to try to find out the syns for eating out at a Thai restaurant (hubby's birthday). I know they will be high but could anyone help me on the below - I am driving myself crazy!

    Thai Green Chicken Curry -
    Plain Rice -
    Roti (bread/pastry)

Thank you so much so anyone who can help me in advance I would REALLY appreciate it.

I'm not an expert at using the website but: the curry can be as low as 8 for those you buy in supermarkets as ready meals but restaurants are often overgenerous with oils etc. when cooking. Plain rice is free. I'd avoid the roti if I were you, or just take a nibble. Things like naans can be huge in syns.

Alternatively, go and enjoy every mouthful and get back on plan tomorrow.

Have a great time whatever you decide.

Welcome Nat. I would try and save some syns for the meal out but at the same time try to be a little careful of what you're eating. The curry, as Maman says, will probably have oil but the rice is probably ok. I would flexi syn that meal and get back on plan the following day.

    good luck

  • Thanks for replying guys I really appreciate it. Its good to know the rice is free if on green and I might flexible syn the roti if no one knows the values but would still really appreciate if anyone has the syn value in their eating out book for the curry if they could let me know.

    Thanks!:)

A little later in the day posting than normal as have been to Alton Towers with my son.

Had a great day SW wise. Started the day with a coffee using HEA mullerlight and a portion of defrosted frozen fruits.
For lunch made a picnic so had chicken salad, a small slice of curry loaf and then some grapes and strawberries. Drinking the refillable diet cokes on the way round. When i got home just gone 8pm had one of the SW homemade scotch eggs and a decent glug of water but cant eat anymore as its too warm weather wise and im not having the usual hunger pangs.
However (sorry if tmi) i am finding that im not going to the loo as much as i have, not constipated as not having urges but having checked on the scales it is making me gain weight, approx 2lb this week so far using home scales. Have taken some senokot tonight to see if it helps, does anyone else have any ideas on how to ease things without doing anything drastic?

It's perhaps a bit drastic for hot weather stef but I'm told that dyno-rod (aka speed) soup is the answer. You'll find the link to the recipe on the very first post of this thread. Personally, I find plenty of SFs and SS food works.

WI for me tonight and I am hoping for a loss, however small. I have cycled severval miles each day on top of dog walking etc.

Going to have a very "light" day mealwise. :)
  • Didn't have a great night - the pre-test "diet" has started to do its work!!!!!

Spent this morning menu planning for the weekend. I have guests Friday night, Saturday lunch and Saturday evening - I must be bl***y mad! Here are the menus for those interested -

    Friday night
Caldo Verde (EE in mins pg 6)
    Couscous
    Beetroot salad, Israeli salad
    Roast chicken, roasted mini potatoes
    Meatballs
    Vegetable & 4-grain risotto
Sweet potato & carrot tagine (EE in mins pg 97)
    Fresh fruit platter
    Mini chocolate mousse cups

    Saturday lunch
Filo roll ups with sweet potato & mushroom sauce
    Humous, techina, Turkish salad, crudities
    Israeli salad
    Vegetarian cottage pie
    Turkey shnitzel
Red cabbage (EE in mins pg 108)
    Summer fruit crumble

    Saturday evening
Vegetable dip (100 Green pg 25)
    Tuna dip
    Egg mayonnaise
    Salad Nicoise
    Salmon & vegetable frittata

Not all of it is 100% SW-friendly but the majority is. I'm planning on being back on plan on Friday immediately after my colonoscopy.

I have made the Dyno rod soup before and while it effected everyone else in the house it didnt touch me lol
I didnt have the heart to tell Hubby it was the soup that had him married to the loo he thought it was something he had eaten out of the house:rotfl:

Wow Medmum, that sounds fab - can I come to yours for the weekend?! :rotfl:

Nat - having looked up thai chicken curry online most ready meal type ones are around 11 on red/EE and 19 on green. If it was me I'd do an EE so I didn't have to count rice or chicken and count about 15-20. Don't know about the bread, sorry.

Oh and thanks everyone for your kind words - have never lost this much at a fat club before (lost 5st with a diet of my own concoction a few years ago but this is quite different) so I'm feeling quite hopeful for the next 3/4/5 stone (will see how much in total when I get there!)

    Green today:
    B: Scrambled egg sandwich (B)
L: L/O soya spag bol, peach
T: Was going to be more spag bol but going to freeze the rest- may have Linda Mac sausages, chips & beans instead
    S: Strawberries, peach, milk (A), 2 x alpen light (B), light choc mousse (3.5), Freddo (5)

    :)
