Hi,
I've decided to get back on the SW wagon with a renewed sense of purpose and have managed to rope in the OH too. I have a question though, do men get more syns or should he be sticking to between 5 and 15 a day? Also if he's going to the pub on Friday after work can he save up his syns and blow them all on beer? I know,it's not the best approach and I would rather eat my calories but each to their own!
I am currently 15st 9lb and fed up with always feeling fat and 'trying' to lose weight before I turn to the chocolate/cake/sweets/anything I know is bad for me to make myself feel better! I need to break the habit and with the summer holidays upon us I will be in control of what I do and when so can actually take the time to exercise and cook batches of syn free dinners to keep me on the straight and narrow when September rears its ugly head!
It's not an official line but I successfully save almost all my syns for weekends. I tend to use them mostly for wine (my preferred treat) and some gravy with my Sunday roast. I find it quite easy to eat fairly syn free during the week.
Oh and welcome to you and your OH!0 -
afternoon everyone
How is everyone today? Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. I was at the gym Saturday & Sunday and spent the rest of the time watching the danish version of The Killing which is IMO one of the best tv shows i have EVER seen. More twists & turns than you can shake a stick at.
Absolutely brilliant programme. If you don't mind subtitles then i highly recommend watching it. There is also an american version which i am led to believe is shown on channel 4 at the moment.
Then i cooked my gammon in the slow cooker on saturday in diet coke and rubbed chinese 5 spice all over the meat. OMG it was delicious :heart2:
Despite me removing all visible fat the diet coke must have "melted it" off as the were fatty lumps cooking in the slow cooker as well which was disgusting. I gave the meat a scraping when it was cooked and prayed that the spices would have soaked in the meat (fortunately they had). I then sliced the meat and removed any fatty bits that must have been inside the joint and i was left with a fat free yummy gammon joint.
Blodwen - sounds like you had a good saturday. Glad you werent too hungover yesterday
CH27 - hope your WI went well this morning
confused57 -i am sure dizzy posted a couple of days ago. I will see if i can find the post i am referring too.
anyway i am on EE today and menu is -
B - scrambled eggs, turkey rashers & mushrooms
L - Gammon salad with new spuds - rocket, mushrooms, peppers, carrot, beetroot, sweetcorn & 45g of reduced fat cheese (hex a)
D - stirfry chicken with brown rice
snacks - blueberries & raspberries, muller light toffee yoghurt, dried apple (hex b) and handful of jazzies (no idea on syn values but am saying 15 anyway). Got the gym again this evening with my fitness instructor so am expecting to be sore tomorrow.
i weighed myself on saturday and was disappointed to see the scales were the same despite me sticking to plan all week and staying within syn allowance. However have woke this morning and my boobies seem to be a bit smaller
and my gut looks a bit flatter. Not sure if i should WI again this PM to see? My belly feels rather full at present because of said jazzies ..

Ooh, I LOVE The Killing - me and OH have both become addicted and have been watching a couple of episodes a night, down to the last 3 now! Have you seen any other Euro/Scandi dramas? Have loved them all so far. Keep spotting people from The Bridge and Borgen in TK, and Meyer popped up in Wallander last night! Haven't seen the the US version but saw the trailer and it looks vv similar in lots of ways, although I do know they had to change whodunnit as it was already known from the original (deliberately not googling too much as I want to stay ignorant til I've seen the last 3!)
Been wanting to try diet coke gammon/chicken for a while, sounds fab, esp as I am having serious post-alcohol meat cravings today! Will have a go the way you've done it, tak!
If you feel thinner don't worry about the scales too much. Yes, it's always nice to see a smaller number but NSVs are just as important. You're doing really well, well done!2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
2012: [STRIKE]Start renovating new house (aka open enormous can of worms)[/STRIKE] _pale_
2013: [STRIKE]Lose weight[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]get fit[/STRIKE] and FINISH THE HOUSE!

I wont spoil it for you but OMG i was sat on the edge of my seat for the last couple of episodes. Have you an inkling who the guilty party is? I have been wrong all through the show. The only thing i was correct about was the suspicions i had about someone in the hartmann camp.
I have never seen any other of the EU type dramas although i have heard of wallander. I have had the misconception that because they were not filmed in the UK/US they must be 2nd rate :oand i have been proved very wrong with this show.
The mother really annoyed me to start with but i think she played the part very well and it was believable.. same for all the actors/actresses. Fantastic programme.

Hmm, I have wondered about Morten for a while but then when someone becomes a suspect we're like 'ahh it must be him' then of course it isn't. As long as it isn't Troels - I love Troels
Last night's Wallander was the first I've seen and I found it a bit weird cos it's meant to be Swedish but is in English, but have loved all the subtitled ones like the ones I mentioned above and also Spiral (French) and Inspector Montalbano (Italian) - IM is much more lighthearted and it's what got us into 'Eurocrime' in the first place -someone described it as an Italian Midsomer Murders but I think that's a bit harsh, he's more like Morse!2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Troels seems to be the only one with any scruples. I also found meyer annoying as well.I found him to be a bit "bull in a china shop " but he grew on me as the show progressed. I havent heard of either of those shows. I will do some investigating into themOOooh, Bridge,
havent heard of Bridge either.
