RFD what you're going through is perfectly natural and you have to let it out but yes, if you can get yourself motivated enough to get to the gym or even just outside to walk, it'll help some.

hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
Hi everyone!
I am pretty new here although have started and stopped SW a few times. But it's got to a point I NEED to lost about 4 stone, very do-able, I know!
I also am getting my contraceptive implant out a week tomorrow, myself and hubby have hummed and hayed about a 3rd for over a year and we just decided to get it out and see what happens. If it's meant to happen it will!
Obviously it would be great if I could lose a fair bit of my 4 stone before/during pregnancy, it would be safer for all.
So I have a BIG incentive to stick at it. I can't decide whether or not to go to group, its about 30 mins away and at funny times. The consultant only really reads out what everyone weighs and thats it. Has anyone done it without group?

Welcome Ang and good luck with everything!
I think everyone is different when it comes to group. There are a few on here who are going it alone (me included) but to be honest I would love to be able to go to group but can't as there isn't one over here.
As far as consultants are concerned you'll hear different stories on here too - some of them are great at their jobs and others obviously want to get in and out as quickly as possible. If the one nearest you isn't brilliant then have a look on the website for another. If you haven't been for some time then it may be that another group has opened up nearby. That being said, we all love it here and I certainly couldn't do this without everyone here to support me.Mediterranean Mum

K&F - same here and that's exactly why I've been around constantly for the last couple of days - reporting in that I'm still being good. So stupid and so childish I know but hey whatever helps I'll go for it. So continue counting the hours and before you know it the day will be gone.
Halfway through 3rd 100% day here (so far so good)!Mediterranean Mum

I have little motivation to do anything recently. I am finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning and find myself just lying there worrying about my parents and how they are going to cope, how i can support them when i live so far away, worrying about the cost of getting back home as often as possible & how i can fit this into my ever increasingly tight budget. I have found myself waking up with tears rolling down my face a couple of times
Sorry i have gone off on a tangent again i know - going back to your original point i think some exercise would actually do me some good. It might help alleviate some stress & stop me from worrying for a short time. I just have to get myself there.
Rainbowfairydust - worry is a terrible thing and I haven't been free of it for the last couple of years. Won't go into details on here but it's just as you describe.
This may sound weird but I am using my SW time and efforts to focus on myself and not on my worries. I also make a point of getting up and doing the whole cleansing, make-up, hair routine before I leave the house because if I look a mess I will feel a mess, and I want to feel in control of this. Like I'm controlling my SW journey. Does that make sense? I don't have much power over the things I'm worrying about but I do have power over how I look and feel and to me that's important.
I can get up in the mornings (unlike you describe) but I can't wait to get to bed and asleep at nights. I read a book about worry and anxiety and in there it recommends visualising yourself floating .... just floating. Everything carries on around you but youjust float. Hope this doesn't sound too bonkers!!:rotfl:0 -

Your are definitely NOT stupid and childish mm. Whatever's wrong with looking to the support of a group of friends (in this case virtual) to help you achieve something? It's what all successful people do in families, clubs and workplaces all over the world. Pleeese stop being so hard on yourself. I work from home a lot too and I often find myself a slave to emails. I'm seriously thinking of creating an alternative email address for my work emails (should have done it a long time ago) as I find I avoid the computer (and so the fun and personal stuff) as I don't want to see any work things at stupid o'clock. :T on your third good day so far. Keep it up.
Good to hear that your GP is taking things more seriously vicki. I was given similar treatment for a back problem a while ago (in my case painkillers and amitriptyline) and it really does the trick. I did feel really spaced out but wow! did I sleep well. Without the antid's (which in this case act as a muscle relaxant) I was like you counting down the hours to the next painkillers.
I looked at your menu macpep and success express came to mind as something for you to try. I don't think you'd need to tweak things much. I'd have to look up the details but briefly it's two-thirds of SFs instead of a third. And well done on really going for the superspeedy fruits. One plus side of this time of the year is that melon and strawberries are cheap(er) and plentiful.
Thinking about what rfd said about 'if it was in the cupboard I'd eat it': I was reading an article in yesterday's newspaper from a nutritionist. It wasn't specifically about weightloss but about healthy eating. This person said that she and her children ate really healthily at home but they did have treats. The difference was that they had their treats when they were out so they weren't in the cupboard to tempt them. I though this made a lot of sense.
My (EE) menu today:
B: HEB toast, baked beans, HEA milk for teas
L: cold chicken LO fried vegspaghetti bolognese
Syns: none planned.
It doesn't look a lot and a bit light on SFs but with WI tomorrow, if I do any snacking it'll be from the fruit bowl!0 -

i am a big fan of the group i must say, so much so that even tho i got to target, and dont have to go every week, i still do
i am afraid if i miss now, that i will go off the rails and eat myself daft until the next weigh in
i told the consultant this week (i had to go to the monday nite class, instead of the tues morn class due to work) that i knew i would be heavier going at nite (was only 1lbs so not too bad) but i just could not miss a week yet
i added, "i might never be ready to only come once or twice a month":o
everyone is dif, but i personally, am 100% certain that i would not have been so successful going it alone,
good luck with whatever you decide x0 -
If I don't stay to group, I've found I either stay the same or have a gain the next week. I had to go to a different group last week and felt a bit lost without my usual group who are so supportive. Everyone made a dish last night to try, well the blancmange was divine! Lost 3 and a half this weekGrocery Challenge: June £92/£5000
