Morning folks,WI later
Me too - fingers crossed for both of us and anyone else with WI today!cyclingyorkie wrote: »Re the suoerfrees thing:-
When I joined I was told that the way to get your 1/3rd superfree with a bolognese, chilli, stew etc was to fling a load of veg into it.
Then someone worked out that veg tend to cook down in a stew etc, so even if you start with veg as 1/3rd of the ingredients by the time you serve it it won't be 1/3rd of what you eat...
Our consultant hasn't really been specific on this, but I have to say that I count the 1/3 superfree as being the veg in a curry/chilli/bolognese. Sometimes I'll have some salad with it but tbh I rarely want a salad with or before a chilli. I think whether this works or not depends on a lot of factors though - the amount of raw veg I put in is probably >2/3 so would still be >1/3 when cooked, and (and I think this is important), unlike previous times when I've done SW and had mounds of rice or pasta because it was free, this time I limit our carb portion to 60-80g dry weight each (or 40g for lunch portion) - it looks like a piddly amount before anything else is added but even OH is ok with it now. That's one reason why I do more EE days than any other even though I prefer green- it keeps my veg intake up and reduces the pasta a little, although I try and keep my pasta/rice portion similar even if on a green day. I think this helps because it obviously reduces the calorie intake, it means that the the proportion of veg will automatically be bigger, and it means I add more of the sauce (and therefore veg) to make it a fuller meal. I think that like most things, you need to play around with in and see what works for you. I do wish SW would get their story straight though! Would ask my consultant tonight but don't want her to contradict what I've just said as I'm happy doing it this way! :rotfl:
Struggled a bit a few days this week - have stuck to it but found it a little more difficult. Don't feel any thinner either (no change there then - only noticed jeans are a tiny bit loose after nearly 2 stone loss) but there's no reason I shouldn't have lost, so fingers very tightly crossed. Have only walked to work once this week due to weather and having to be in early some days, so that may have something to do with it.
EE today:
B: Bran flakes (HEB), milk (HEA), banana
L: L/O Thai red chicken curry (1)
T: Probably pasta with roast veg, pesto (2.5)
S: Freddo (5), Mini Milk (1.5), WW yog2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Blodwen, I have been the same. After 2st off I was still wearing same clothes (size 22) and they were just more comfy but when I lost a bit more I was into 20s and now with 3st 5lb off 18s fit comfortably. It was such a buzz going holiday clothes shopping and being able to pick up size 18s in the "normal" sections of shops knowing that they fit rather than having to choose from limited ranges in the "outsize" departments / shops. My aim is to never set foot in Evans again! :rotfl:Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Thank you - my mum keeps saying there will be a point at which it will be noticeable and I know you are both right, just getting a bit impatient waiting for that point! How much more are you looking to lose? It will be nice to be able to shop in normal shops and just go to Evans for shoes (because unfortunately no amount of weight loss will make my massive feet smaller!:rotfl:)2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Your feet may get narrower/less chunky though. I've been doing s/w for nearly 2 years and the sandals I bought last year are a bit looser this year - good job they are velcro .....;)
When I started I was an Evans size 22 and I slowly (and I mean slowly) worked my way down to an Evans size 14. When I threw those jeans into a charity bag I realised that Evans clothes were now too BIG for me! It was a wonderful day!
6 months into my s/w membership the Evans shop in York shut - I was SO glad that I had started my weight loss journey. Now, although I am struggling with what I think is 'the change' - my body doesn't really feel/react like my body anymore - I can fit into fatface size 14 cords - and I LOVE them ( £15 down from £48:money::money:) and i have the size 12s waiting...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Tried to post 3 times last night but my internets down (on dongle at the minute) and lost it grrrrrrr:mad:
But i'm back and back on track - been for a very foodie break where we ate out every day.. everything was gorgeous so i'm not going to regret it, just get back on track and try and lose what i gained before Thursday weigh in comes around.. We did a lot of walking so that limited the damage somewhat!
Well done all the losers.. great to hear the clothes fitting stories - i think sometimes for us girls that's one of the biggest boosts when we go down a dress size!
Welcome to the Starfish, Cranky and i can't remember the other name sorry - i wrote it down last night as well... oh Danielle!!
Right although i'm back on track i'm going to struggle today as i'm stuck in the house waiting for a deliverywith a bag of popcorn sitting in the kitchen:eek:...only had a WM pitta and ham so far so doing well.

Piglet can I ask how far you used to walk daily in the beginning please, thats something im seriously thinking about is regular exercise daily day in day out I usually do at least half hour a day on wii fit but my sore foot n knee are usually better if im up n walking or had a really busy week, I cant keep putting it off till summer cos summer doesnt seem to be coming here in Wales at the mo...
sure, at the beginning all i walked was half a mile, thats all i was fit for, me and mum walked around our local graveyardmy dad had measured that 7 times around it was half a mile (they live next door to it )
and thats all we did, then we built that up to twice a day, then built that up to a mile in one go, and gradually just kept going, on saturday i walked 7 miles over the mountain, and yest i did a 5 miles walk, all up and down hills over country roads (i live in the countryside in Ireland so have a good choice of walks)
summer aint coming this way either by the looks of things :mad:0 -

What size feet have you got Blodwen? I'm a size 8 but sometimes a 9 depending on the fit. However I know that once upon a time I was a 7 and I think they've increased in size with the rest of me!
Unfortunately over here they think that women don't have feet bigger than a 41 (size 7 I think) and it's almost impossible to find anything bigger - I can only buy shoes when I come back to the UK!Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0
