I do have the Curry Heaven book, but for some reason the rest of the family have gone off SW curries at the moment. Oh well, they'll just have to get over it! :rotfl:
Anyway, went for a walk whilst they were dilly dallying with their food and so clocked up nearly 5km today. Could have been better I know, but certainly much better than staying in watching the TV (which I would normally have done).
Made myself a stir fry with noodles, 2 slices of bacon, onions, peppers, mushrooms, garlic, ginger, soy sauce and rice wine. Delicious. Have just polished off a bowl of melon, mango, grapes & blueberries and will be moving on to a Mullerlight shortly. Still have a HEB (or 2) to fit in.
Have a great week all. :j0 -
Evening all
Just caught up on the last few days posts. I am feeling like a saint tonight as the hubby got a pizza in but I just had 1 slice and a big old salad...usually I would have had half of that pizza
I spread my syns out more this week so hopefully I can get my 2lb loss at WI tomorrow!Slimming World Target Achieved 13/09/12!0 -

I find that if I am craving something I tend to eat loads of other stuff instead and sometimes it works, but the majority of time I eat more foodwise than if I had of just had the craving food in the first place...if that makes sense....
It's a great idea Caroline but I know what I am like - I would have one wee bit and it would send me into a frenzy like a rabid dog slevering at the mouth and I would end up troughing loads. To be honest, I haven't have my HEA today (don't drink milk) so I woldn't even have to pick the cheese off but I can't trust myself to stop at one slice. God that's a terrible admission isn't it...Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

what....NEVER!!! you havent lived
you need 6 multi grain ryvitas (thats the green pack, MUST b this type)
3 tablespoons of nutella (or any other chocolate spreat)
crush the ryvitas in a bowl (a potato masher does this job very well)
warm the nutella in the microwave
mix together, and then split into the wee small bun cases,
and now for the hard part....leave them in the fridge to harden!!!:p
1 syn each,:D:j
they are yum!!!! like really nice rice krispie buns and IMO....FAR nicer than the real ferrero rocher!
what i usually do, is melt an extra wee bit of nutella, and take some whole strawberries and drag them thru the melted nutella, then sit on a sheet of greeseproof paper and leave in the fridge to harden, i count these as 1 syn each also,
you can double up on the ryvitas and nutella if you have a lot of people to cook for...or if you love them!!! you can also make them with scan bran but i dont think they are as nice,
i dont even like the real ferrero rocher, and i love these!!
Thanks for this, need to give this a try!Slimming World Target Achieved 13/09/12!0 -

Re the suoerfrees thing:-
When I joined I was told that the way to get your 1/3rd superfree with a bolognese, chilli, stew etc was to fling a load of veg into it.
Then someone worked out that veg tend to cook down in a stew etc, so even if you start with veg as 1/3rd of the ingredients by the time you serve it it won't be 1/3rd of what you eat...
Therefore recommending you eat 1/3rd superfree with your stew is protecting your weight loss (or SW's reputation) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wE have had plenty of stand-in consultants in the last 9 months, and our current consultant is only just trained - so we have had the area manager in our meetings on a few occasions recently. Different consultants have given slightly different answers to the Q about do you need 1/3rd extr SF's with your stew - those who have been doing it for years tend to stick to the old line, whereas recently trained consultants trot out the new line!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

I think its meant to be e.g. if you would have had a medium bowl of stew, you should switch down to a smaller one that is roughly 2/3 the size of the previous one and then have a small 1/3 side plate of e.g. salad. i think its meant to be about consciously replacing 1/3 of what ever you are going to serve yourself with SF food, not about adding in more SF on top of the portion you planned or adding in a SF starter/dessert or adding in an extra snack cz you feel you have to cz its not free anymore if you don't.
from what I've seen, it does seem to have be taken by people as meaning "have a bowl of stew and then even if you are full and don't want to eat anymore, you MUST have 1/3 again in SF at some point in your day otherwise its not free".
personally, i don't like it as a rule. i think taken rightly its a good idea to do a SF food swop, but taken wrongly it can be a highly dangerous idea of encouraging eating for eatings sake or making people feel like they must eat more food today or they aren't doing the plan right.
i think if you had your bowl of stew, and that was enough for you, it filled you up and was syn free/you counted the syns properly, ignore forcing yourself to eat more food just cz you "have" to.
if you aren't hungry and you eat an extra apple cz SW told you too, you have overeaten more than your body needed/wanted and yes it may be low calorie, but you still have to burn off that apples worth of calories somewhere. add in an extra apple a day over a period of time and those few added in will add up to a lot that could set you back a week or two from target on there own (and the cynic in me says another £5/£10 in SW's pocket!)
This makes perfect sense to me and thanks for reminding me about it Evilsquid. I think we all tend to think "eat as much as you like" as long as it's free and then forget to stop eating.
I would add to what Evilsquid has said and say that maybe we should start a meal with a large bowl of vegetable soup or a large bowl of chopped salad (or both) and then we wouldn't necessarily want or need so much of the main. It's very difficult to put on a plate a smaller quantity when you are hungry so if you can fill yourself up (or pretty much so) before you get to the stew or whatever it is then you should automatically take less (if that makes any sense!).Mediterranean Mum

went to a great wedding last night and did tons of body magic! managed to stay pretty good and like last week's function didn't eat anything at the reception and just drank diet coke with ice.
at the meal I had delicious Cajun salmon to start with a few spoons of various salads (they had dressing!) and then for main course I had grilled chicken thigh with rice and salad
drank diet coke but did have one Blue Daquiri (delicious) but spent as much time on the dance floor as I could - feet are really complaining this morning!Mediterranean Mum
