    Hi All

Am just popping my head round the door, I have been awol, dealing with a lot of personal !!!!!! just now which is probably contributing more to my weight loss than SW at the moment. Feel as if someone up there doesn’t like me. :( I hope to be back in full force soon, hope you are all doing well on your losses.

big hugs :grouphug: hope things will get better for you very soon...

I have read with interest a lot of you restrict bananas in your diet - I eat loads of bananas and pears as they are easy to take in the car with me for work and aren't a lot of faff to get into like oranges or grapefruit. Apples don't do much for me other than hurt my teeth.

I think bananas and grapes are ones of the most sugary fruits... I don't eat more then one a day and then also probably not everyday... How about plums, nectarines, satsumas? I'm gonna spend this afternoon in the car and will be taking salad for (late!)lunch, apple, plum and alpen light bar... might not have them all but better have more then be hungry and tempted to buy something 'naughty' :o
  • Thank you for the welcome :)

Just back from my first meeting and have agreed on a target of 2 stone. Really I don't care about the target weight but I want to be able to wear all the lovely clothes that are currently packed away in a suitcase in the loft. I may drag a couple of my favourites out and hang them somewhere I can see them as a visual reminder of what I am aiming for.

Not sure if this is a useful tip but something that a lady mentioned this morning that other members seemed to think was a great idea. When she bakes a potato, she always bakes a couple of extras. The next day she then slices or chips one in the morning and sprays it with the low fat spray stuff and pops it in the oven to warm through and has it with her cooked breakfast - egg, bacon, mushroom, tomato etc. If she didn't do this, she would want toast with her breakfast but this way it leaves her bread ration (sorry, haven't learned all the terminology yet) to have with her lunch.

Off to do some reading and planning now.
If you're not scared, you're not paying attention

    hi Minnie! :D

    I

are flexi syns basically just ignoring SW and enjoying the party/day/holidays as usual? (without stuffing your face silly of course ;)) or did I get it wrong? :o

    TIA

    yeah, bascially :D

flexi syns is where you allow yourself say 75 syns, and then next day....STRAIGHT BACK ONTO PLAN!

i have to be honest, if i am having a flexi day, its because i am going out for a meal, drinks, whatever...and i dont exactally count up...:D i would get lost around 55 never mind 75,

i do sometimes try and count it roughly the next day, but i ALWAYS go straight back onto plan, HTH;)

  • I'm going to be controversial and say that if you have a tall skinny latte at Starbucks and use your HE A for it then it's free! I worked at Starbucks for years and a latte is just hot milk and espresso. Semi-skimmed is standard in Starbucks, but I think full fat is standard in M&S and Costa. I personally prefer skimmed in hot drinks as it gives a much smoother froth. Just watch out for the extra syns in any syrups or chocolate that you add. HTH.

  • Dear all, as the last thread grew so long here we have a new one. I am simply copying all that Consultant31 put in the introduction to the pre-Christmas thread for you here. There have been a few changes on SW in the past couple of months - cereal allowances have gone up slightly (but very slightly - by a gram or two, don't get too excited) and some of the Muller yogs now have syns, but the basics remain the same - eat lots and lots of healthy food and treat yourself to a few syns each day!

Food Optimising is a plan for life, it is not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you have been doing in the past has not got you to where you want to be.

You cannot use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.
Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising and Choose Success books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!

The Original (Red) and Green plans are still going strong but most people may well have heard of the Extra Easy plan. If you've ever wondered if it works, I promise you it does. If you've ever wondered how it works, just trust the experts at SW, they wouldn't send you on the wrong path.

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Anything that’s Free Food on Green OR Original – so that’s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish and all the Superfree food – is totally Free on Extra Easy! Yes, you can eat unlimited meat, potatoes and veg, fish, chips and mushy peas, and chicken curry and rice with no measuring, no weighing, no counting – no kidding!

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Superfree Food!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice and one Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

And if the Syn values for Green and Original foods are different on the standard Syns lists, count the lower one!

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Superfree Foods to half of your plate

    OR

B: switch to more Speed Foods

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments. Oh, and also try to remember not to quote wholesale from books or the SW website as there are copyright laws and we don't want Slimming World seeing us as nasty rivals, this is more for support :A

    Thank You!! :T

Afternoon! I think I'm going to one of those that just pops in a few days a week to catch up. WI was on Tuesday and I lost nothing. But I think it's because I was due on AND decided to wear jeans rather than a floaty dress of the previous week (and possibly the mother's day chocolate, cake and pizza...). But at least I know what I can get away with to maintain.

This week I'm back on it with a vengeance though! Porridge with ff fromage frais and fruit, loads of fruit and veg snacks and proper meals in the evening. I feel like I've lost far more than 5lbs though - my stomach has gone down loads and clothes are fitting better.

Hopefully next week I'll be at the half stone mark.

I WI officially in class on a Monday morning but when I go on the wii fit I do the bosy test too which tells you your weight - it's usually pretty close to SW scales TBH which is why I am in a funk at +2lb
