Seeing as it's a shiny new thread, I can't help but hop on and say hi
I'm 38, 5ft 5 1/2in and on May 5th last year I was 20st 1 lb. I'm now 13st 4 lbAll thanks to SW.
I've been as heavy as 21 stone and as light as 6 stone something (I didn't look, the doctor just told my mum he wanted me to get up to 7 st). I've had a go at all sorts of diets. I usually prefere the "Go mad and starve youself silly" diet, which means the weight comes off really quicklyThen I go on to the "stuff yourself silly with all the things you've missed" diet which puts all the weight back on again ~ Oddly enough :wall: But after getting desparate I tried SW last May.
I had heard from Taplady how sucessful and easy it was and I was getting to the point where I had to do something! And oh my god how easy is it??!! :T Never before have I coped so well, as I've just filled myself up with all the Free Food and factored in any extra's with HEA and HEB's. It's so easy, even for a frog to understand. I joined a local group and I went for several weeks but I just felt like I new what I was doing so it was a waste of time and effort. I didn't gain much from the group and tbh in just got on my nerves a bit. I felt sure I could carry on on my own so I left. Each to his own, I know others find the group invaluable.
I don't weigh weekly. It's too traumatic! I can only cope with every now and then. I usually do it every half term, or at the mo I'm seeing how much I can lose between pancake day and Easter so I weighed half way through, and will weigh again on Good Friday morning.
I had a little wobble around January as I didn't lose anything for a month. I hopped on the scales on Jan 1st and I was 14st 4lb. Then I hopped on the scales on Feb 1st and I was.... 14st 4lb  That would usually have made me binge but I just changed things around a bit. I was actually eating too much fruit ~ a serious amount I can tell you, and at least 4 yogs a day. So I cut down on the FF yog and too much fruit, and I lost 11lb in the next 3 weeks.
I won't highjack the thread too much, I'll just hop on every now and again if I may? Just wanted to let any strugglers or doubters out there know that if I can do it ~ anyone can! I was fed up, fat, and miserable, and now I'm back into my size 12's (yes, alright they are REALLY tight but I can get them on!) my bones don't ache, I don't get headaches anymore, I'm really looking forward to the summer and I feel really happy again!
I've suffered with eating dissorders since I was 14, I've lost at least 8 st 4 times, but now, thanks to SW, I really think I've got my food issues sorted. Just got to keep going ....
I can really relate to the 'starve yourelf silly then stuff yourself silly' bit
now I'm going to do it properly and FOR LIFE! :joh nice shinny new thread!!! well just found out it's my graduation from uni on week commencing 12th Nov, (I'm a mature student ) so this plus a wedding in october gives me a spring into summer incentive!!
poor planning yesterday meant that I was so hungry at placement, I had brekki at 6am so my lunch at 10.30I was starving by the time I got home so need to take some snacks with me
Have a good day everyone, :j btw I'm going to order a pair of size 12 pink jeans and were them on my 45th birthday in July is this a bad idea????
If I'm up early I tend to have two 'breakfasts'(time depending), one is fruit salad(with or without yoghurt) the other is 'savoury' like eggs, baked beans, veg, protein, etc.
I try to make all meals as free as possible so I leave me HE for 'cravings' ie. alpen light when I want something sweet and milk for coffee
also when I went for my 'Mr T trip' yesterday I took with me the smoked mackarel salad I prepared earlier and had it for lunch and ate an apple and then later a banana(could do without it actually but I'm sometimes too greedy)

how's that for highjacking?
:p:p
got my voucher for free 1 week fitness first pass so going there in a bit :j
had my coffee with 200ml ss milk and now munching through a bowl of strawberries and melon
when I come back from the gym I'll have some eggs, bacon and veg and then go for another Mr T trip(I know it's my obsession but I recon running round supermarkets is kind of exercise too, right?)
will prepare another mackarel salad to take with me and some snacks...
dinner will be stuffed peppers(with extra lean turkey mince, salad onions, sweetcorn, mushrooms and chives - I don't really fancy rice in them but might bake a potato to go with it)
got some muffin tins yesterday(yes, from Mr T! LOL pyrex ones 75% off) so might try the breakfast muffins receipe soon
also want to get some scan bran, is it just H&B who sell them or does Mr T as well? want to make a SW cake(got a pyrex tin for that too), anyone got a yummy receipe please? :A
wish you all a great SW friendly day!0 -
Good morning ladies.
Another newbie here and I would love to join in too please.
After many years of up and down weight I have reached a new high this week and having read a lot on this forum about the success people are having with SW I have decided to give it a try.
There is a meeting near me at 9.30 this morning so that will be my first WI. I think I have about 2 stone to lose and if I don't do something about this soon, it will be 3 stone before you know it.
I am really looking forward to being slimmer and having more of a spring in my step as we move towards summer (I'm feeling quite frumpy at the moment) and I will be pleased to cook and eat better as this will set a good example and be helpful to my teenage daughter. She is slim right now but it is never too early to learn good eating habits and I worry that she will inherit the fat gene which seems to plague the women in my family. If you're not scared, you're not paying attention0 -
WI and I've lost 3.5 pounds so I'm officially at my first half stone off :jpsychopathbabble wrote: »I was going to say, I thought normal black coffee was free, americano etc.
filter coffee is free so look for the one made using a cafetiere with grounds. i know starbucks do a filter coffee. espresso carries 2 syns by itself for the amount starbucks now use (I'm a massive coffee fiend, i used to have a double one a day:eek:).0 -

now coffees: I guess I'll be trying your trick then, don't really use choc over the top but I guess all the other things in latte/mocha are too much in syns anyway... or I'll just learn to avoid starbucks all together
i am not sure which exact coffee your are looking the syn value for, but i just had a wee look at the SW website, and down thru the starbucks syns, and any coffee including the term "latte" or "mocha" runs from 5 syns....to 20+:eek::eek:
I HATE wasting syns on anything i can have for free:D0 -

Am just popping my head round the door, I have been awol, dealing with a lot of personal !!!!!! just now which is probably contributing more to my weight loss than SW at the moment. Feel as if someone up there doesn’t like me.I hope to be back in full force soon, hope you are all doing well on your losses.

Morning all - happy new thread!!
I've having a bit of a funny week. I've started doing a wee bit more exercise - tried the jogging on wii fit and nearly died after 5 mins! - but the damn wii fit tells me I have put on 2lb:( And this is with me cutting back on syns for my night out this weekend - I'm really apprehensive about going out now as I don't want to ruin the weight loss momentum but I have been looking forward to going out on the lash with the girls for so long!
I have read with interest a lot of you restrict bananas in your diet - I eat loads of bananas and pears as they are easy to take in the car with me for work and aren't a lot of faff to get into like oranges or grapefruit. Apples don't do much for me other than hurt my teeth.
Any hoo, here's to a fab journey towards a slimmer summer with my new found cyber friends. x
PS Any sign of Med Mum - not seen her for agesMortgage Aug 22 £280,000

they keep saying at group "SW is somthing you can do for the rest of your days, not a fad diet"....so get the glad rags on and get out there!:D

are flexi syns basically just ignoring SW and enjoying the party/day/holidays as usual? (without stuffing your face silly of course) or did I get it wrong?

I'm back from the gym :T done 30 mins crosstrainer and my stomach crunches for the beginning...
will go tomorrow again and do some resistance training as well
had a yummy breakfast of:
2 frylight eggs, 4 rashers of bacon, lettuce, tomato, pepper, radish, pickled mushrooms(no syns right?) and chives
now a few questions:
1. Where do you buy your ff fromage f. and ff cottage cheese? I was in Mr M and got eat smart fromage f(less then 1% fat) and the savers cottage cheese(0.5%?) didn't see anything with less fat and I also checked in Mr T and nothing there really...didn't eat much of it yet as I'm not sure if it's syn free?
2. Scan bran again please?h&b only?
