girlies, there is a friend of mine that loves german biscuits but was wondering the syn value of them? for the life of me i cant figure it out - its basically two bits of round shortbread sandwiched with a little jam, with a blob of icing on the top and sprinkles... im guessing around 4ish syns per biscuit but really not sure.

I would call them Empire Biscuits but they're not listed on SW syns calc either :( But shortbread rounds are (4syns each!) so I would guess at nearer 7 syns per empire biscuit as althogh the shortbread used is thin, there's still the jam, icing and sprinkles to consider

Malted milk biscuits are 2 syns each, so I would agree that they will be more than 4 syns....

Hope everyone has a good weekend planned.

I noticed that McCain Rustic Chips were only £1 (usually £1.50) for a 1kg bag in Sainsbury's today. They're only 2.5syns for 100g so if you fancy a change from SW chips they do hit the spot. Also boil in the bag/microwave kippers were 2 packs for £2. I often have kippers for breakfast. I know there's a tiny bit of butter in them but I don't think it's worth worrying about.

Plan is OUT the window today! Started out well, had yoghurt and banana for breakfast then dashed to uni. Builders in replacing our worktop and hob, thought it would take them 2-3 hours max, left hubby to supervise. I got home at about 2.30 and the flat looked like a bomb had hit it! They eventually left at 5.30!!!! So I'm eating pizza and chips from the chippie as the whole kitchen is filthy and everything is all over the place.

    Evening all!

Had a bit of a disorganised day so it could have been better...

    Breakfast - Fibreplus bar
Lunch - couscous, vegetable stew type thing, tiny bite of cheesecake (syns?)
Snack - 50 cals of breadstick/croutons thing from Graze box (2.5 syns)
Tea - macaroni cheese pasta and sauce (2 syns)

So, probably up towards 10 syns but it could have been worse - went to the pub and had diet coke instead of the usual cider or wine to compensate for the unknown cheesecake episode:rotfl:

Weigh in day tomorrow - just hoping for some movement on the scales to encouarge me to carry on.
  • well done loosers.. !

Welcome aboard. Much the same as you - all or nothing - I blame my mum bringing me up with the attitude " If something's worth doing it's worth doing right." :)

How about using the syn calc online? Or are they homemade?

All that dashing about, would love a good pizza tonight, - my planning went to pot too. Ended up having two Jacket potatoes instead of the planned meat and potato pie. Nevermind tomorrow is a new day. :D
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, don't forget your Body Magic!
Kids are off now so I have to dodge the snacks nibbles and laziness that it brings. Spring cleaning this weekend so plenty to keep the fat burners working full time!

I must admit Piglet, I am enjoying it.

I have tried every diet in the book and most recently all the Atkins/Dukan/Harcombe type with low carb and high fat and much as I can see that they have merit, they are not for me in a forever sort of way.

The basics of SW are something I can imagine being the new way for me forever.

I have eaten some lovely food this week and will eat better next week because I am determined to be more organised. I have rediscovered a love of fruit which I had forgotten. I have been on too many diets that say that fruit is too high in sugar so needs to be eliminated or rationed that I had got out of the habit of eating it at all. This week I have enjoyed satsumas, red grapefruit, various types of melon, apples, mango and most especially pineapple - it is so delicious! To be able to eat it and know that it is one of the foods that you are not only permitted but encouraged to eat is a joy - especially as we move into summer.

It has also helped me to drink less wine. I was definitely a daily drinker and was hitting the wine every evening. There was also a bit of the 'now the bottle's open I may as well finish it...' so most days I probably drank a whole bottle! Last week I had a glass of wine on 2 days only but at 8 syns for a large glass I just didn't want to 'waste' my syns on a drink. As my treat last night as it was WI day I finished the bottle but the bottle had lasted me all week so I am really pleased with that healthy 'side effect' of this diet.

I am finding this thread inspirational and very informative - thank you to all who contribute.

sw was a revelation for me! and has changed the way I think about food. I'm struggling at the moment but thats a different story.

I had my monthly book club last night (read wine and nibbles night) and did really well - 2 small glasses of wine out of my syns and just ate veg sticks with no dips and not a single crisp! This is one fo my real weaknesses so am super proud! I had a sneaky mid week weigh in and am another 2lb down :)
sorry off topic - what is your (bookclub) book of the month ??

WELCOME :j:beer::j Interesting to read your post. Can I ask, do you have any tips on tackling sw second time round? I have been out of target since January LAST year! and I just can't seem to get my head back in gear? I am finding it much harder to stick to the plan, control my syns etc. In twelve weeks, I have lost just half a pound  I really struggle. My meals are mostly ok but i have far too many syns :(
  • Flat Eric have you tried deciding on your syns in a morning - eg, 6 syns for a Hifi Deluxe Peanut bar, with some grapes , or snack on some sw chips. Allow for 5 syns on a alcoholic drink or choccy bar. Put all these in a tub and only have whats in the tub?
