You just turn up to a group that suits you.Make yourself known to the consultant who will give you and any other new members the induction talk.
Well, this is what ours does, we chat, get weighed etc then she starts the evenings discussions.it's great , I've even made a few new friends and have joined Zumba with one of them!
did you swop clothes yet?0 -

I've got about 6 stone to lose. I had a baby boy last year but to be honest the weight gain started about 4-5 years ago. I went from being super active to being super lazy overnight and the weight has just crept on over the years. I was a size 10-12 when I was 19, 4-5 years later I am now a size 18 and about 16st. Id love to be 10 stone but its going to be a looong journey. Think the first thing I need to do is get myself out my comfort zone and join a group- do you just turn up or do you have phone? Think with joining the group im more likely to only have bad days rather than bad months!
Hi Natterjack
You just turn up to group - ours has a table in a separate area for new starters and at our meeting the consultant talks through the plans with the new starters while the rest of us are getting weighed. The newbies then have to sit through the meeting and are weighed at the end when everyone else has gone so be prepared to be there for 1.5 hours on your first week.
I started in Jan with 6st 6lb to lose and have lost 2st 13lb so far so I'm almost half way! :j To be honest, it doesn't feel like a diet at all, just making better choices and eating less cr*p (and drinking less wine).
Good luck!Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Good morning everyone. Well just been to get weighed ang i have lost 4.5 lbs. Quite amazed as i have eaten loads this week, but just not rubbish. Have done loads of walking as car is broken s+o i guess that has helped. Not bad for someone who didnt understand the plans until sat / sun!
Imagine it will slow down from now on as sure i cant loose this amount each week

Afternoon all and well done you big bunch of losers. I'm joining you with a 2lb loss - but only of the 2lb I put on over the weekend with my mental food binge. Feeling much better (and flatter-tummied) now. Husband is still in self-sabotage mode though with wine every night. I am resisting. Come touch my shining halo...0

My little guide to SW! (references to page numbers are to the Jan 2012 book)
Extra Easy means you can mix free red and green on the same plate. Make your choice from the green pages (14/15) and red pages (16/18). Add one third superfree (orange pages-11/12) plus one choice from the A List on page 21 and one choice from the B List on pages 23/24/25. Snack on orange pages (pages 11/12) Enjoy up to ten syns per day (lots of choice in later pages of book)
Red = On your plate include foods from the red pages only (16/17) add as much superfree (orange pages) as you desire (find on 11/12). PLUS two A options (see list on page 21) PLUS two B options (pages 23/24/25). Again snack on orange pages and enjoy up to 10 syns per day.
Green = On your plate include foods from the green pages only (14/15) add as much superfree (orange pages) as you desire (find on 11/12). PLUS two A options (see list on page 21) PLUS two B options (pages 23/24/25). Again snack on orange pages and enjoy up to 10 syns per day.
For all plans, more Healthy Extra choices are available online.
If you have previously been doing WW then I suppose the scales might take a week or two to catch up with your sw efforts so I would anticipate that the loss in week 1 might be small but the loss in weeks or 2 or 3 wil be greater. Your menu for today looks nice - but you should try to include some syns. It doesn't have to be something like chocolate - eg you could have some sweet chilli sauce with your chinese ? or tomato sauce with your beans on toast (or marmalde on toast followed by the beans) - not tried it myself but meant to be very nice!Natterjack88 wrote: »Well I think im going to join slimming world!- have started reading this thread from the beginning- but you lot can talk!

Also wondering if SW affects your grocery bill? Can see mine going up loads!
Also the recipe thread has got so many good ideas but is there any books anyone would recommend? Not so mse but though id askhave decided to make Butternut Squash and Roasted Red Pepper Soup...................what hard work was it peeling the butternut squash lol

I think it depends on what you buy - I can buy a bag of fresh veg for £1.50 which will be gone in one meal. Alternatively I can buy a bag of frozen veg which will last several meals. Likewise, if I buy strawberries - gone in a flash - where as bag of oranges - lasts me longer. There are certain foods I still buy even though I'm doing SW and although I'm not keen on ready meals, do occasionally buy the curry meals from m&s and can spend quids on this by the time I have bought all the extras (not sw friendly in the slighest) but a nice treat now and again and cheaper (and I hope less syns!) than going out for an actual indian!
All the SW books are fab and priced very well too. I think my favourite two are the small books - one is entitled 100 Extra Easy days and the other book is similar but is based on red and green days.
PS re the butternut squash - I quite like those bags of squash that are pre-peeled and chopped for you. Expensive but worth it in my opinion!!0 -
Lost a pound last night. Feeling more positive.... Green today - Heres my menu:
Breakfast:
30g of Muesli (HEB) with tiny bit of milk
Fresh melon
Snack rest of melon / 20g cheese (HEA)
Lunch:

salad (lettuce, pepper, spring onions)
Tea: SW chips, fried eggs and measured ham (HEB).
not sure on afternoon snack or post dinner treat yet...0
