I am an EE girl having followed it since I joined in Jan (apart from 2 unintentional G days ) and to be fair I have found it suits me and the rest of the family and I have lost an average of 2lb 5oz each week for 18 weeks.

At my induction meeting both R & G plans were discussed but more time was spent on EE. A few members of the class I go to have twined about EE being "useless" and it has been recommended by both the consultant and other member that they try G or R and one or 2 have found success with them but the majority have still found weight loss to be slow or fluctuating and were horrified when the consultant asked them to fill out food diaries and hand them in the following week..... funnily enough most lost weight the next week.

Yup - the program works if you follow it. As soon as you start guessing or tweaking it's going to show on the scales, especially if you're like me and find it difficult to lose weight so every extra morsel shows!

  • Just made a really delicious soup -

1 onion, sauteed in Frylight for a few mins.
then add 1 cubed sweet potato, 3 cubed courgettes, 2 cups of frozen peas and 4 litres of stock
    simmer for 25 mins
add a small handful of basil leaves, 1 sachet of sweetener, salt and freshly ground black pepper and 1 tsp of lemon juice
    blend and enjoy!

  • I found this, just in case anyone is interested -

    pesto sauce:
50g fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
    25g rocket leaves, roughly chopped
50g Parmesan cheese or Pecorino cheese, grated
    2-3 garlic cloves, peeled
    150g fat-free natural fromage frais
    100ml vegetable stock

Im finding the green versus red debate very interesting!!!!

From my experience (ive lost 2.5 stone) i don't lose with Green and i don't have significant losses with red - maybe less than EE.

I follow EE - I only eat meat once a day most days as my other half is veggie - but this is because i simply don't lose weight on green. Our class was told only one HEA for green as well - whereas some people can have two and still lose significantly. I wish green did work for me as it would suit me better not to force myself to eat meat. Im not sure of the science behind it, or how i gain or lose very little with green but it just shows how different things work for different people. :A

I thought the older plans like Mix to match had been replaced by Extra easy - the fact they aren't in the books any longer would make me wonder why . Has anyone asked in their class about them?

I guess different things work for different people and it's very much a matter of suck it and see.:o I could never be full on red days - so much meat is a bit bleuck for me

Flateric - did you sort your breakfasts out? :A

I have been naughty this week - I have been having those nature valley choc chip cereal bars. They are not on the syn list but the syn calculator indicated they were 10 syns (for the two pieces which you get in the packet). So thats the days syns wiped out in one fell swoop. I am not very organised with breakfast - partly because I just don't fancy it and have little time to cook anything (not that I would want to eat it anyway) but then I end up starving hungry :( and if I haven't planned anything then I get really frustrated and cross and often end up having syns.

I have been taking muesli to work (measured - 30g) and having this with a little bit of milk and I've quite enjoyed this. I've then followed it with fruit. I sometimes have muesli with ff natural yogurt and banana but I'm not a big lover of yogurt.

On the red/green/extra easy/mix to match front - when I asked (my then consultant) about mix to match (many months ago)- could I do it - the answer was that I didn't need to, Extra Easy was the plan that I should follow if I wanted a mix to match day.

When it was just the red and green plans, our consultant used to say that no matter which plan you followed, you still lost the weight - but if you were following green days then the losses might be slower to show. Things like pasta take a long time to digest so more fluid was the key there. Its funny - most members I think do EE in our group and have great losses. I don't think many do simple red or green - but I'm not sure why that it is. I might have to do a poll....
  • I'm not keen on natural yoghurt either FE but I really like the vanilla yoghurt and have been having it on frozen berries and a chopped banana. It seems to keep me full for quite a while too.

Well a week in and weigh day tomorow. I have missed cheese or at least nice chunks of cheese but been having the correct amount weighed out. I am also missing something naughty tasting treat wise. Where i would normlly grab a few biscuits i dont know what to grab, but fancy something to stay on track. Fruit just doesnt fill the gap. Does anyone have any ideas - something naughty tasting but naughty syn wise :)

A lot of people saw that a curly wurly is great for exactly this. I've heard that they put it in the freezer for a while - means means it takes longer to eat! I can't get them here but if I were in the UK they'd be my treat of choice!
