    Hello everyone

well I have decided to join SW this evening

I am currently about 20st 7lb, I was 21st at my heaviest and heading there again , I did lose 6s stone in 2005 but due to a lot going on in personal life I came off my diet again and put the 6 plus more back on again .

I have probably tried every diet going and always seem to give up after a few weeks.

I have been really impressed by 2 people I know who have lost 3 stone and 3.5 stone in SW so thought I would give it a try.

    Doe

Welcome! I started at 19st three weeks ago and have had great support on here (as well as good losses on the scales!) - good luck!

    good idea! :T

can I have a random question too? :o

Can I refill the fry light with olive oil or does it have to be the original stuff?
I know there is a big difference in calories but if it was still ok SW wise I'd prefer to have the olive oil in it then all the chemicals in original fry light :o

I seem to remember having a similar conversation on a similar thread a few years ago *puts biochemist's hat on* Actually, contrary to what most people think, Frylight doesn't really have any chemicals in - it is the lecithin, a natural emulsifier, which makes it white and it just stops the oil and water from separating, the same way as washing up liquid makes grease dissolve in water (ok, not the most appetising analogy, sorry! :rotfl:)

    Drum roll please!!

After my disappointment last week ... I was soooo good but somehow I gained half pound...
Well... This week has MORE than made up for it!

I had my biggest week EVER!! I lost 5lbs...

I lost 5lbs bfore when I booked a holiday wk so that was 5lb in 2wks
But this was my biggest single week ever!

And it took me 2lbs under my new target!! Yippeee..

Thing is... That's a total loss of 5stone 13, so I do wanna get that other pound off for my 6 stone award
But I was soooooo happy to get my target member badge!

That's fantastic, massive well done! :j

Well I had my third WI last night - after last week's 6lb loss I was a bit nervous but...I lost another 4.5lb, making a total of 1st 1lb and got SOTW :):):) Am amazed as never had such big consistent losses but not complaining! Taking next week as a holiday as going to my parents for a week or so, but will be sticking to it there so hoping for a loss in 2 weeks time.

    Today's plan - green:
B: Bran flakes (HEB), milk (HEA), strawberries and a banana
L: Sweetcorn chowder, grapes, strawberries, passion fruit
T: Pasta with veggies and some kind of sauce, cheese (HEB)
S: Mullerlight Greek (0.5), Polar bar (6), Options hot choc (2)

    Have a good week everyone!

Oh - does anyone have any idea on how to syn a home made (fill the dinner plate) sized pasty? I know I shouldn't and I doubt I will but home made pasties it is at the weekend and one is being made for me ......

Oh and whilst on the subject of bad food, got family coming round on fri eve for tea. Going to do something easy, breaded chicken (need to check syns/have chicken that doesn't have the breadcrumbs) but re desert, what can I do that is naughty but low syn ??[/QUOTE]

I'm with medmum - don't do it! You have plenty of options here - if its a cornish pastry you could cook the filling seperately as a stew - and have with a jacket spud and extra veg, or make the filling into a pie for the rest of the family and just have yours without the pastry.

Same with the pud - how about a huge bowl of lovely fresh berries- rasps, strawbs and blueberries. If the meal isn't til fri you have plenty of time to plan sometihng syn free/ easily adaptable yet still quick and easy - imo you can't get much easier than sticking a whole chicken and some jacket spuds in the oven and servign with a big fresh salad.

Naughty low syn pud? How about half syn roulade? Or make individual Eton mess? Meringue nests are 2.5 syns each, loads of fresh berries and a little cream or yoghurt.

Flat Eric - don't do it. It's crazy. You've been really down about not losing weight and now you're almost planning a self-sabotage. You've got a whole four days to figure out an alternative menu to keep yourself on plan - try to figure out why your thinking is leading you to try and eat and syn a pasty (which will be hideous - all pastry except filo is just fat and flour) instead of coming up with an alternative. You can do it.

So today looks like this so far.

B weetabix , banana and milk from HEA
    L. Poached egg.tomato bacon Wholemeal toast
    D. Fish chips mushy peas ( from mag )

No sure yet about snacks as need to go shopping , going to be hard work at first will be worth it :-)

Good Luck doelani. Just to comment on your menu (assuming EE) there aren't enought superfrees in there. Breakfast is OK, lunch needs more than the tomatoes and (sadly) while peas are superspeedy (good for weightloss) they don't count as superfrees. You can sort it by snacking on fruit mid afternoon and after dinner. Or you can add something extra to your meals.

You could make a summer pudding with wholemeal bread and sweetener and then creme fraiche instead of cream.

Flat Eric, I think you mean someone else is making you the pasty. It depends how understanding your friends are. You could probably eat the filling with almost no problems but the pastry is a big no-no. I have a friend who eats pies without the pastry lid (she just doesn't like it) and we all accept that's her way. Do you tell people you're doing SW?

:T:T:T piglet, enjoy the moment. I'm delighted to say 'I told you so!!'.

the pasty will be horrific because of the pastry, i think 25g is 5 syns so the amount in the pastry alone will be 15/20 syns depending on how big it is. if its a meat and potato pasty or cornish you can prob get away with saying its a good proportion free but the meat might have been browned in oil and they might have added butter for flavour and maybe flour to make it thicker.

can you make your own breaded chicken? what about doing the KFC dupe? will be much better for you than buying in. if not, id just make my own bread crumbs from WH bread and egg. will prob still be less syns than shop bought.

theres SW recipes for things like low syn cheesecake (i think i remember seeing one in this months mag?). might do you good beating the hell out of some biccies for the base if family are around :rotfl:

i always do a paella when i have loads of people coming round. they are famous among all my friends now. its not so bad syn wise if naughty stuff like chorizo and a glug of wine gets spread between 5 or more portions.
  • Hello all,

Wow just caught up on the weekends posts - well done to those who've reached targets and losses, keep going everyone. For those that are struggling keep smiling, remember how far you've come already.

Had WI yesterday (the scales were working yday, yay!), and have a loss of -4lbs.

That's technically two weeks worth of losses as we couldn't get weighed last week as the scales weren't working, but still pleased at a 2lb loss each week, effectively.

Total loss for my first three weeks on SW is 6.5lbs, yay! Hopefully next week I'll get my half stone award.

Also was very good to see a new number on the scales, out of the 11's which I'm pleased about and into the 10's again.

So I've got 10lbs til my Club 10 target, and 1 stone exactly to my personal target now :-)

We go on a weeks cruise on the 9th June (eek!), so I'm hoping to be a bit lighter again for that and to make good choices on board to limit the damage! We've got lots of activities planned so hopefully that will do damage control!
Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!
