a bit of a random post (sorry) but I must post while I think about it!

I just wanted to mention about eating out. I have to say I am the sod it - have what I want camp but for those of you who want to stick as much as possible to SW when eating out then a common ruse used by members in our group was rather than to shout from the rooftops that you are following SW/other healthy eating plan, they would instead say they had an allergy / food intolerence etc. The view was that the restaurant/cafe/pub etc would take more notice of this than you simply saying oh Im following SW - leave off the butter...

To be quite honest I too have employed this 'tactic'. Why do some people think it's OK try and sabbotage us SW'ers but it's seen as good to be supportive of someone with an allergy/food intolerance? We too have food challenges and deserve support. :)
I've already started fretting about the coming weekend as we're staying away as we will be attending a funeral. But, I'm also trying to put things into perspective; we will be saying goodbye to a very dear friend.

Today the weather here has been absolutely dire and so we've all wanted comfort food. So today has been:
B - grapefruit and orange segments
L - SW quiche (pepers, onions, courgettes, mushrooms, turket, cottage cheese, eggs) with salad. Pud - muller Greek co!!!! yogurt (.5 syn) and figs
D - sausage (4 syns) and bean casserole and jacket potato. Pud - melon for me, mint ice cream for others
    Snacks - apple
Not had HEA nor HEB yet today and still have syns to spare. Not sure how to use them up. :rotfl:

well im a danger to myself this morning lol. my intention is to finish my assignment and go buy a slow cooker then meet up with the ones i used to do the marathon with. (may day belfast marathon.)... however, willpower is being tested as a girl i know owns a chocolate shop in town and emailed me to say she is trying out a few new products today and to come down and taste them!:rotfl:

im now trying to convince myself of all the bad reasons to go into town like uhh.... traffic, and rain etc, and trying to ignore the little devil on my shoulder called mother nature, telling me that i want chocolate. trouble is, her brownies (actually ANYTHING she makes) are uh-maaaaaaa-zing!

a girl in work claire used to do SW and she's like 'ive told you before now, 1lb here or there doesnt make a difference,' thats grand her saying that, but she isnt the one trying to lose it lol. i know you girls understand because we're all in the same boat, but sometimes coming from someone who isnt still involved with the SW programme somehow (target or still losing) can be rather i dunno ... condescending?
OMG Maman I hope I didn't offend you in any way. The only reason I come on here sometimes is because of people such as you who give me hope and a little bit of sanity in my insane world! I make a point of actually not telling anyone I'm on a diet because I know the kind of remarks that they give or think (if you don't start showing a loss) so please don't think I was making any remarks about you or anyone else on here.

Just say NO! well, "No,thanks" anyway. Don't go, it'll be too tempting. And people who try to sabotage when they know you are trying to lose weight is not a true friend, really.

    good idea! :T

can I have a random question too? :o

Can I refill the fry light with olive oil or does it have to be the original stuff?
I know there is a big difference in calories but if it was still ok SW wise I'd prefer to have the olive oil in it then all the chemicals in original fry light :o

I have a spray (from Lakeland I think) that I use half olive oil and half water in. Give it a shake to mix before spraying. I never syn the oil, but I only use a spray or two. I only microwave (don't have a stove) so no need for any oil at all really but I like the taste sometimes.

Med mum and Maman - I love you both, find you both inspirational, and mix the two of you up! It's the Ms and the mother thing I think! I'm sure we know you both well enough to know that neither would be horrid to the other so don't worry! Are the sharon fruit not in season now, Medmum? They're over here. I do envy you when you can get them so easily.

I am currently trying a new tactic. All my syns the day before Weigh In are going to be healthy extra Bs in an effort to avoid the dreaded "can't poo on WI day" syndrome. It's having some effect; I had to open the car window a tad on a longish journey today. At journey's end people were asking why it was open. I said it had got a bit hot in there :rotfl: actually it was rancid I am ashamed :rotfl:
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Thanks for the welcome back :) I like the idea of batch cooking, maybe i should invest in a few reusable freezer tubs and dust off the slow cooker. has anyone here ever done jacket spuds in a slow cooker? i love a proper traditional jacket with crispy skin, but dont have the time when im home to wait for them to bake :( do you also find that meal planning keeps you on track? where do you start?
    xxxxx

    Welcome back Lizzie.

I know what you mean about crispy jacket spuds. I always do my spuds in the oven when I'm cooking a joint or casserole then keep them to use as wedges. I just cut them into wedges and spray them with frylight then they only take about 15 - 20 minutes in a very hot oven. Lovely and crispy and easy to keep to portion size if you do green or original days.

i used to do this when buying sandwiches out, i hate using syns on stuff like mayo, i don't find it adds anything to a sandwich or has any real taste and is just empty calories i don't want. when i'd just say "no mayo please" it was 50/50 if i got taken seriously, when i changed to "I'm highly allergic to eggs, please no mayo" i got 100% no mayo and they always made allowances for me (even making me off menu sandwiches ;)). i used "i cant eat white bread, you don't want to know what it does to me! but i can have brown if you have any of that in....." if it had white bread listed and i wanted to use a HEB not syns :rotfl: worked a charm!

I wasnt talking about anyone in here either, incase someone thought i was. i was talking about people who i work with who even up to last week laughed when i told them what i had lost through willpower and the support of EVERY SINGLE person on this thread. it was like it was a joke to 'outsiders' who either have left long ago or have never done the plan.

Blackberry-rum.. you made me laugh out loud! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: only because ive been there haha and so glad that i was in the car on my own haha!!! but oh dear me you have cheered me up no end lol.

well to get back to what i weighed in at last week i need to lose 2lb. perfectly achievable in 3 days if i get my backside into gear and eat properly again. i have a fruitbox ready for tomorrow for my lunch of pineapple, blackberries and kiwi :) that can sit in my coolbox at work so i dont snack too much.. and i have a grapefruit to try for breakfast tomorrow morning (its so bitter but i may get used to it lol since its uuber healthy :) )

anyone anything nice planned for tomorrow?
I'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know

On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:
  • Can I ask a silly question? I went over my syns today and had a big sundae.im just wondering how people come back from that-do they just draw a line under it?im hungry now but feeling guilty about it, but if I'm eating free or super free is that still ok? I haven't used my healthy extra a yet either but I'm feeling bad from going over(as today was weigh day I thought I'd feel fine about it but turns out I don't!)

    Well Done:T

Well I went a few syns over today, only 4.5 so nothing drastic.

I have completely run out of fruit, yoghurt and alpen bars, so need some supplies. I might do EE tomorrow?
