Thank goodness the working week is over.
Friends over for supper this evening - am so looking forward to seeing them. Have the base of a shepherd's pie in the slow cooker and will top with mashed potato SW style. Will use the potato ricer to make the mash lovely and fluffy. Scrummy. Dessert will be a huge fruit salad and ice cream for those who desire a little extra scrumptiousness. Choccies and coffee for total indulgence (but also portion controllable ).
    Have a lovely day.

Strange day for me today. Started well (fat free activia yogurt for breakfast followed by boiled egg HEB sandwich) no spread or marmite - just black pepper! Had a late lunch of batchelors noodles which were horrid - this is where it went awry ! I then promptly had crackers and cheese (unmeasured!!) with spicy chutney for lunch followed by a 10 syn cereal bar ??? Then I have filled up on chocolate syns this afternoon.

Tea has been very sw friendly - lots of sw chips, fried eggs (in frylight of course!) and ham. My favourite comfort tea.

Have munched more chocolate syns since ???

Tomorrow is going to be tough as I will be getting up at the very stupid time of 5am, will be leaving the house before 7am and will not be back until early afternoon. I have taken steak out for tea but not sure what is going to happen with the rest of my meals :( Don't think it will be possible to get properly back on track until Monday and then as its a bank holiday, will no doubt want a bank holiday treat.

Hi S/W's, I am new to this thread but 3 months into SW and honestly have just been lurking here and have picked up so many tips just reading the threads, only 5 pounds to target now as well!

Eternal sunshine, I see you are from NI so am I, where did you get your meat parcel from (I know SW doesnt endorse these any longer) but would like to get one as well, would love a sausage and not a quorn one which I hate!

Is there a reason why they don't endorse them? I got mine from mcmasters butchers in whitehead(if you're not familiar, that's a few miles outside carrickfergus). For twenty pounds we got four burgers, four chicken fillets, eight pork sausages, six pieces of vegetable roll, some flavoured sausages and a pound and a half of mince-I've tried quorn and veggie sausages and they weren't nice at all.

Ps congrats on being so close to goal, that's great! Did you go it alone or did you go to a class?

had a mullerlight and some fruit for snack earlier...

now starting 2nd bottle of cider, no more alko for the next week tho :)

i used to make quorn chilli but you have to add loads of flavour and i still found it a bit lacking. i found quorn is nothing but filler and needs flavour from whatever you cook it with to be edible, i used to douse my quorn stir frys in soy sauce and 5 spice.

i used to use the schwartz packets for chilli con carne, worked out at somewhere between 1 and 0.5 syn per portion for the amount i made, i got 8 portions out of it when it was eaten with rice/potato :rotfl: i added loads of veggies too, like a whole onion, garlic cloves and red/green/yellow pepper along with a whole tin of kidney beans and chopped tomatoes. i froze mine as soon as it was made and its fine to re-heat it.
  • Ladies, (and gents?) - like KandFsmam I cold turkeyed on chocolate over a year ago. (Sadly replaced chocolate with other high sugars then) but if you really want to kick it into touch - try munching on a carrot BEFORE you go for the chocolate. There's a good bit of science involved but you might find after a week or two, you reach for other things rather than the chocolate.
MSE as much as SW sense here

Eternal sunshine, thank you regarding the meat etc that is good value but to far out for me, i live in Belfast and do not drive, but let me tell you I am so damn fit since starting SW I could walk in no time!!!! SW to me is not a diet but a lifestyle and after a while it becomes your life and so much easier - I go to group and as nearly at target I will remain (though I dont know why to be honest, its a nice group I attend though so it can be social but I learnt a hell of a lot here and on minimins)

I am not sure of the reason why SW do not endorse them I think maybe some butchers may have not kept strictly to SW maybe meat not extra lean or something, although not to sure but someone here will maybe have the answer.
