Thank goodness the working week is over.
Friends over for supper this evening - am so looking forward to seeing them. Have the base of a shepherd's pie in the slow cooker and will top with mashed potato SW style. Will use the potato ricer to make the mash lovely and fluffy. Scrummy. Dessert will be a huge fruit salad and ice cream for those who desire a little extra scrumptiousness. Choccies and coffee for total indulgence (but also portion controllable ).
    Have a lovely day.

Hi all, I copied my post below from the minimins forum but have received no replies, just wondering if anyone could give e any advice or if anyone who has started sw after previously doing weightwatchers could advise?

Hiya.please move this if its in the wrong place but i was wondering if someone could look at my eating and see where i am going wrong?Im new to slimming world, just started on Monday and I know I should only weigh once a week but I weighed this morning,at the same time as il be weighing on Monday, to find I've lost half a pound. Now I know a loss is a loss but I'm really disappointed as I've just started.

Im wondering if because I used to do weight watchers where I'd got to the point where I couldn't eat much is a problem, since now I'm eating quite a bit more? Also, last night I had supepr noodles and a yoghurt at about half eleven, so maybe that was too late? I've eaten chocolate most days but I thought as long as it was in my syns that was fine? I've put a few days eating below, if. Could et any tips that'd be great, as I'd like to iron out any mistakes now. I still want to do the plan as I'm not hungry on it but I don't want to be doing it for nothing.

I am doing extra easy by the way, and want to stick with that, the red and green days is too restrictive for me

    Yesterday
breakfast, two weetabix with a level teaspoon of sugar-cereal is healthy extra b, milk is healthy extra a, I've been using 300ml of dale farm one milk, and gave my suar one syn
break at work-strawberrys, a banana and a muller light yoghurt-all free
lunch-pasta-using the recipe from the slimming world website with passage and laughing cow cheese(I only had one and a half extra light triangles and ave that one and a half syns). There was chicken bacon and mushrooms cooked in fry light(is there a limit to how many sprays you can use before you have to start synning it?
dinner-diet coke chicken with slimming world chips-all free?
snacks-tesco version of snickers, snack size, gave it ten syns(using the one syn is twenty calories rule), most of a packet of chewing gum, gave that one syn, and a mullet light and low fat super noodles at night-free?also had two slices of Parma ham, gave that a syn.

    Any advice???

Thanks in advance, sorry for any typos, I'm on the iPad and the damn autocorrect keeps kicking in

Sorry, just in addition to this, if someone cold briefly explain the superfree/speed food thing to me that would be great, as that's maybe where I'm going wrong, not necessarily having enough veg(not sure which veg falls into that category either). Does that concept mean that say I'm having pasta for dinner, if I take a slightly smaller pasta portion and load up the plate with a big salad, then that should help? So you sort of get the best of both worlds, you can have tasty foods like pastas and rice dishes c but you are still eating your veg on the side?

    Thanks in advance :-)

so that's it! I am divorcing the love of my life! CHOCOLATE!

I hated seeing the 15st on the scales again!

I am not eating any chocolate this week! And I am going back to basics and will be extra good too!

    so today's plan(red) is:
B was coffee with 200ml ss milk, pineapple
L is veg soup, chicken&veg quiche
S coffee with 200ml ss milk, alpen light bar
D some fish and veg, alpen light bar
syns will be some cider/wine(might use up 2-3 days allowance but all will be counted, no more flexi until I start loosing properly again!)

I'd say definitely NOT ENOUGH superfree for EE sorry :( Also a bit too much Healthy Extras? I might be wrong tho as not checked in the book now...

HOWEVER it's a loss! :T that means you are doing something right! :) just try to up your superfrees and maybe count all the HEs and syns properly(ie books or website) or just aim for 10 a day so there is space for any mistakes?

Good luck and I hope you'll see the results you want! :A

Eternal sunshine - id say that you need more super free if you are doing EE.

Super free is most fruit and veg (not cooked/stewed fruit, dried fruit or put in smoothies though) super speed are foods that are going to fill you up but are relatively low in calories so if you need a boost eating these will speed it all up. The Super free foods are the orange pages in your book, super speed will be on any page and have a green dot with either S or SS in it. They are two different concepts and there is super free food that is not speed and super speed that is not super free , peas being the notable one that category.

With the 1/3 super free there are two schools of thought, some do it 1/3 over the whole day, meaning that you can have a whole plate of pasta for one meal but snacks or say one other whole meal will have to be SF. Others are 1/3 of each plate, so like you said, 1/3 of your plate is a salad and the rest can be your pasta. It depends which one works for you but the official SW line is the 1/3 per plate.

You can eat whenever you are hungry on SW, so don't worry about it being "too late" to eat. If you are hungry, eat something!

Losses are usually a bit slower on EE because it so generous and will def be slower than WW purely because you are actually eating enough food to keep you full. R and G days have always given me more losses than EE and I think others have found the same thing, but if EE works for you keep doing it. Unlike WW, SW is not a quick fix, it's designed to be an every day plan so you can do it for the rest of your life. Losses will be slower but you will be more likely to keep off the weight and know how to eat properly so that it doesn't go back on if you stop.

If you've already done WW then your losses will possibly be slower than someone who started S/W eating all the high fat/sugar foods and had to make drastic changes....

To encourage you i lost half a pound in my first week - and 5.5 stones later I am still here at S/W!

You need to add some extra superfrees - esp to your evening meal - there are plenty to chose from in your book - I adore my veg these days!

Today is my first day on FF and it's hard work. Consultant rang last night and gave me my points total which seems very low :(:(, but I will give it a good go!

A previous consultant said that the good thing about FF was that it made you really glad to get back to EE and food optimising... I can see her point!

I'm not going to post what I eat because you have to ask your consultant for this plan.. but if anyone wants to know how it's going then please feel free to PM me.

  • Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement, that days eating probably wasn't an accurate reflection of the veg I eat, I have mushrooms, peppers, onions etc most as and am really getting into my veg so I don't think it'll be a problem to add more. I really appreciate the reassurance, I think because I've heard people dropping so much weight so quickly I got disheartened but it's clear to me that slimming world is way easier to integrate into normal life, like for example I've just come back from the butchers who does a syn free slimming world meat parcel so I'm able to have a slimming world 'fry up' which would never happen on weight watchers!

    Thanks again :-)

gettingthere Well done on reaching target!! Don't feel bad about moving your target. I bet most of us have done it. I have had to change mine as I looked old and hagard at target. I was aiming to be the same weight as I was 15 years ago, which was the last time I lost a lot of weight. family and friends have asked me not to go so low. I do understand how you feel though.

I haven't had a official weigh in for a couple of weeks and we have had to cancel as the hospital is having major refurbishment. Our room is now a store room :) My plan is not to weigh myself except on my old WI day.

After almost a year on EE I think I am getting the hang of it. Today I have stuffed myself with salad but would have preferred something more warming as we have had a few flurries of snow.
