  • Ah cool, thank you - sounds like you actually get something that's "physically" useful with the plan and stuff :-)

Lol I suspect I'd find the clapping and cheering bit a bit tedious too, but I suppose it works for some people!

There's a session on Mondays just a few minutes walk from home so I'm tempted to go :-) I might think differently when it's a dark or rainy evening though!

I have rang the PCT to chase up my SW vouchers as i have tried to stick to it while i am waiting and failed :( and i cant join before they arrive. I can see where the cheats crept in over the weekend so i clearly cant do it without the pressure of a weigh in. Today i have washed and polished the car, got the wii fit sorted and have the zumba which has short bursts which are easy to follow and you can do as many as you like and me having no coordination cant do a zumba class cos i spend all my time trying to watch the moves :p. I have made my self 2 new playlists on my ipod for walking. From tomorrow i will make time for a walk at some point in my day - everyday.

Reading these posts this EE seems ever so complicated, i can see that if you fill your plate with 1/3 superfree food it will reduce portion size but what happens with snacks / extras or supper? For example if you have your planned 3 meals with 1/3 superfree over the day but had crackers and cheese as a late afternoon snack would you have to have 1/3 fruit with it or if you had a packet pasta in sauce as an extra would you have to eat 1/3 superfree with it?

    confused :o

If you are hungry between meals then ideally, you should snack on superfree - fruit/carrot sticks/pepper sticks/cucumber sticks etc.

If you were having crackers then you would syn them (unless it was a cracker option from the HEB list). Cheese would be your Healthy A option or syns if you have already used your A option for milk.

With the pasta in sauce - are you talking about the batchelors ones? then when I cook these (with water), I add fried (in frylight) pepper, mushrooms and onions.

So extra easy base your main meals on two thirds free (so the red free foods and the green free foods) add one third superfree (items on the orange pages in your book). snack on superfree in between times and use syns for the rest keeping to 10 or less a day (but at least 5). Drink plenty of fluid (water) and sneak in extra exercise where you can (fill in fit logs to qualify for your body magic awards)

    Hi All,

Glad to have found this thread!

I'm *thinking* of joining Slimming World, but the £5 a week and membership fee puts me off a bit?!

I used to be 15st, and I lost that and got myself down to 9 and a half stone, with my weight settled at just under 10 stone at which I was very happy (I'm 5ft 6).

Last year was a tough one personally and my comfort eating habits returned, and I've put on over a stone...I was sort of aware I was gaining it was somehow ignored it before if that makes sense? End result is that I'm now hovering at 11st and feel very unfit again and un-confident again - and have barely any clothes that fit.

I know I've been able to do it before (lose weight that is) but I'm struggling this time...it seems to a certain extent that whatever I eat it goes on lately.

    So my dilemma is:

Is slimming world worth paying for? Would it really help? Is there a way of following the plan without the cost?! Or is the weekly weigh in what helps keep on the straight and narrow?!

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

SW is expensive but I recently bought a countdown so the payment side is all catered for and all I have to do is turn up. There are usually special offers now and again so may be look out for one of those (free membership for example). Get the up to date books, get the talk and see what you think. Class helps me a lot and I think I would be lost without it but it isn't for everyone and the cost is off putting. You could always weigh in boots each week and save the balance of the sw fee for a nice outfit once you have reached a certain target??

I was also thinking about SW for a long time because of the cost but then I decided that my weight loss and health are more important to me(I am in a situation where the money is not a big deal for me tho - I just like to save a lot and not spend if I don't need or really want something)

I guess I will still attend the meetings and see how it goes... however I find your alternative idea fab! :T

good day today so far :)

coffee with 175ml whole milk, alpen light bar
banana, nectarine and ff greek style yoghurt
scrambled eggs with chicken, bacon and veg
    4 clementines
coffee with 200ml whole milk(7 syn), alpen light bar
    smoked mackarel salad

dinner will be sw chips, chicken breast and salad

did some cycling and cleaning today too :)

    got a cold tho :(

and going away early morning so it might be a tough day tomorrow :o

Have to say - lost about 5 stone on my own once but now with kids and life being busy, SW does alot of the organising and such for you. The group keeps me focused, but I am competitive. You know you, would you stick to it if you didn't have that "target"

    Good morning!!!
do you know I actually find this thread a lot more useful than the classes, I prob shouldn't say this but I really don't like the classes, its all the clappy stuff and I've got lots of useful ideas and tips here but i need to pay the £5 cause going to class keeps me on the straight and narrow getting weighed in front of people ;/
    )

Same here, I went to 2/3 classes and really can't be faffed with it:o it's boring and tedious and I have better things to spend £5 on!

Does anyone else do mix to max? Done it a few times this week and really like it:D

Piglet - fantastic, well done. See that tiny wee gain at the beginning of the month was maybe what your body needed to kick start it into action again.... I am, as always, in awe of you! x
