It seems like there is plenty I can eat for lunch and dinner but am struggling with breakfasts- I don't have time/ inclination for a cooked brekkie- any ideas for brekkies that won't use both my healthy extras in one - I tend to have cereal and milk at the mo!

If you need a pick-it-up-as-you-run-out-the-door breakfast, these prepared fruits are on special offer at the moment in Tesco:

    http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=255229988

Lots of different combinations available. I had one for dessert yesterday but they would make a nice breakfast. Maybe add a hard boiled egg if it isn't filling enough?

Congratulations to everyone who is doing well - I find your success inspiring. I will have my first WI on Thursday and it is the first time in a long time that I have looked forward to being weighed :) I have been so good that I am really hoping to get off to a flying start.

  • Hello everyone, I joined SW last week and had my first weigh in last night - lost 4.5 pounds and am over the moon, I started out at 12.1 and my target is 10 stones. I am amazed at the amount of free foods but currently a little overwhelmed by planning all my meals! I bought a recipe book last night so hoping to try out some new things this week, I guess it just takes a while to get into the swing of it!

Look forward to chatting with you all :)

    Morning All

Had my weigh in last night and have maintained.Slightly miffed although i should be pleased that i didnt gain. There are a couple of reasons behind the maintain i think -

1- Poor menu planning as i was quite tired last week.
2 - Poor food choices because of the lack of planning, had 2 days where i went WAY over syn allowances.
3 - Suspect its lady time this week. Feel fat, bloated and generally grotty today and have some SERIOUS junk food cravings.

Despite the grottiness i have tried my hardest to stick to the plan, and after the WI i had my planned treat ( shape chocolate pot & malteasers) .

    So menu for today -

B - 2 slices of wholemeal WW danish (HEB) with a smattering of extra light philli ( 1.5 syns) and 2 slices of turkey rashers :D
L - Leftovers - Potato, broccoli bake type thing (didnt work out as planned but tastes nice )
D - Going to my sisters - she is making pasta & /veggies bacon bake (no doubt will have cheese on so will ask her to leave the cheese off mine and i will sprinkle on top once cooked - that hopefully i can control how much i will eat) . I have asked if she can at least use a diet type sauce to cook in. Since she is a a skinny and also a student i dont want to be rude and start dictating what she must buy in order to fit in with my SW plan .. she is the one cooking after all !

Snacks - apple, mango, blueberries, pineapple, muller light toffee and carrott sticks

Double ETA - Remainder of syns will be for dinner, and also must remember to drink more water. I think that was another reason for the maintain..not sure i drank enough last week.

Had some choc cravings today and used some syns but then reminded myself that I should be good if I want to keep loosing the lbs :o normal service resumed ;)

I would have the chocolate if you want it. Its my understanding that the syns are there to used as you wish. I have found that i am using around 5/6 syns a day for meals (so for example i used extra light philli on my toast this morning which is 1.5 syns) and then at lunch if i had a salad i would use 2 syns on a dressing and similar for my dinner.

The syns i had left would used for some sort of chocolate snack or 25g of pretzels/dry roasted peanuts or a bag of crisps, a low fat custard pot, a packet of animal biscuits, jelly tots, iced rings, mini jammie dodgers - These are all around 5 syns or so..

I have been buying multipacks of treat size chocolate (malteasers, skittles (only ones which spring to mind ).. The bag itself has 45 bags of treats in and so will do me a good while ..

The minute i deny myself is the minute i fall off the bandwagon.:D

If getting the recipe book motivates you then that's fine, the SW mags are good for recipes too. if you go to the first post on this thread there's a link to recipes. Personally, I adapted loads of recipes that we would normally eat. Often it was just a case for swapping oil for frylight. But you are right, planning is definitely the key!

  • Been on plan all day, been stuck inside writing my dissertation though, had a wobble mid afternoon but just ignored it and it went. Wasn't hunger, just stress I think.
I stress eat, though only doing assignment work for a BA - I snack while I think. I have started stocking up on the large bottles of Ribena really light or no added sugar, and have a Bag of grapes/ chopped melon etc to hand. Can't think without picking! Good luck with the disertation.

    Keeping your "bread" for lunch...

I'm following extra easy (working so far :D ) I have to plan a little ahead, so if I want to use my healthy extras for bread at lunch I either have 1 weetabix with fruit (banana drizzled with mullerlight vanilla is yummy and almost creamy!) which leaves you 1 slice of brown (I think!) or 3 Rivita which i will heap with fat free cottage cheese. Or I'll prepare some scrambled eggs & bacon the night before leave them in the fridge and chuck (pardon pun) them in the microwave when I get up.

Extra Easy and 1/3 of your plate

The super free and free foods are what fill you up, it's the same on any plan in that way I thought. I haven't really looked at the others to be honest they didn't work for me last time. A side of salad or veg mix to a plate adds so much colour it makes it look ten times tastier! Snack wise, - thats what syns are for. Snack on fruit or I plan my syn use. Tortilla Pizza tonight. Using syned cheese and free foods else wise 9 syns nom nom nom. Makes for a good lunch too!
HIfi peanut deluxe has been my snack fave this week!

    well done losers :T:T:T:A:A:A

Why is it whenever I have a sore throat it never effects my appetite? Its like swallowing razor blades at the moment :-(

I have weetabix with water, when thats soaked in I then add a splash of milk so makes it taste like its all milk [well in my mind it does] :D

Food today [must get back on track]
    B - weetabix hot water/milk [.5a] coffee
    L - mugshot/wm roll , toms, breadstick [1], p/white [2.5], fruit/yog
    T - chicken , salad [lettuce,cue,tom,s/onion,pepper] 2x JP, spaggy hoops, cheese [1.5a], roasted onion, exl s/cream [1]
    Syns - 4.5

Yes I know 3x HEbs but don't know syns for chicken and can have extra HEs as at target.

Really fancy some choc ice cream for my throat, good job we don't have any :rotfl:

Meant to say, the Muller Light Mint choc chip (not many syns on EE) when frozen makes for an excellent ice -cream as does the coconut and vanilla greek style yoghurt - remember to take them out of the freeze about 20 minutes before settling down to eat it though, or find a sharp spoon!

The mint one is free on EE; and the greek ones are 0.5 syns each I think
