  • Thank you for the tip about freezing yogurt for ice cream.

I don't particularly want a dessert in the evening but find it a bit depressing when I have finished my dinner if I know there is nothing more to come until the morning so it may help me mentally to know I have a little something tucked away in the freezer.

    Good morning!!!
do you know I actually find this thread a lot more useful than the classes, I prob shouldn't say this but I really don't like the classes, its all the clappy stuff and I've got lots of useful ideas and tips here but i need to pay the £5 cause going to class keeps me on the straight and narrow getting weighed in front of people ;/

Same here. My consultant is a bit rubbish really and i find it boring to sit there for 90 minutes listening to other peoples losses/gains. The consultant doesnt really offer an tips nor do they offer a body image session which i was led to believe was after the Weigh in.

I do feel a bit loathe having to pay the £5 to get weighed each week BUT i think paying it will keep me on the right track

  • Hello:wave:, I joined SW last week.

Annoyingly, I should have gone for my first WI this morning but I came down ill at the weekend and was not able to go:mad:.

Still, I'm definitely sticking to this - Extra Easy is suprisingly...easy isn't it! I seem to be eating LOADS. Just can't wait for my 'first' WI, a week late, next week.

I've been surviving on the same 3 outfits since xmas as I no longer fit the rest of my clothes:o.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

  • Hi All,

Glad to have found this thread!

I'm *thinking* of joining Slimming World, but the £5 a week and membership fee puts me off a bit?!

I used to be 15st, and I lost that and got myself down to 9 and a half stone, with my weight settled at just under 10 stone at which I was very happy (I'm 5ft 6).

Last year was a tough one personally and my comfort eating habits returned, and I've put on over a stone...I was sort of aware I was gaining it was somehow ignored it before if that makes sense? End result is that I'm now hovering at 11st and feel very unfit again and un-confident again - and have barely any clothes that fit.

I know I've been able to do it before (lose weight that is) but I'm struggling this time...it seems to a certain extent that whatever I eat it goes on lately.

    So my dilemma is:

Is slimming world worth paying for? Would it really help? Is there a way of following the plan without the cost?! Or is the weekly weigh in what helps keep on the straight and narrow?!

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

well, so far today ive eaten a whoooollle load of yummy melon for breakfast :) and had 2 soft boiled eggs in a cup mashed up with salt and pepper for my lunch :)

i plan on having a ham salad for my dinner with a low fat (0.5syn) salad dressing and a mega cup of tea :) and maybe a hi-fi bar for dessert/snack

oh i have a question: i havent tried 'making' the muller into ice cream yet, do you pour it into another container and freeze it? or just freeze it in the yoghurt tubs?

invisibleyousee - in the beginning i was sceptical about the whole SW process, even though i know people that have lost LOADS of weight on it. Personally i find that the weekly WI keeps me on the straight and narrow and gives me... i dunno, a sense of achievement? it just... makes me feel proud when someone else is weighing me and they tell me 'well done' and actually mean it

i suppose it could be done with the books, by yourself at home, but i find i understand the process alot better from going to the classes and seeing the examples of what to eat and what not to etc. Plus, everyone in class has already been where you are at some stage and can help suggest ideas to make it easier to lose, and how to keep it off permanently. Having said that, i still will weigh myself mid-week to make sure im headed in the right direction before WI, and if not, it gives me time to correct it.
I'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know

On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:
  • Hi fluff1987, thank you for that :-)

What do you "get" when you attend the classes, do you still have to pay extra to get the lists of what syns are in things and for recipes etc? I saw a recipe thread on MSE with ideas which looks interesting. Just wondered what you get for the £5 a week besides being weighed and the mental support I guess!

    I joined lastweek. You get
    • a personal code to log into the website in which you have access to lots of tips, recipes and syn calcs and all sorts of motivating stuff. Remains valid as long as you continue to go to classes
    • a book which explains the plan very clearly and a comprehensive list of day to day products syn value.
    • Your leaders email and ophone num if you are struggling/any queries.
    • info about exercise and how to build it up slowly if you want to
    • you can get the sw mag cheaper through class
those are the main things. Yes, you get support - I find it helful, even though I do find the clapping bit tedious, there are some nice peole there and it helps keep me focussed. (I'm another one who can't seem to do it alone, I need class - did it 5 yrs ago and lost 2 st but eventually stopped going as didn't want to turn out on a winter eve. Now going to a morning, before work class)
