WI for me today and I STS so very pleased.

Our consultant had been at a SW Training weekend so was full of 'messages from above' including a team game which had everyone cringeing. One of which was pushing a third SF 'on the same plate'. What a load of nonsense! I'm hardly going to have a banana with my beans on toast am I? I think she meant at the same meal but that wasn't the mantra she'd been given. She did admit that after discussion the trainers were saying 'if it works for you then go for it'. I'm so cynical I think it may be something to do with them offering a refund if you don't lose weight - so if they make the rules unfathamable there's always something they can catch you out on. Personally, I think once you've got the basics of food optimising it's best to try ideas from all quarters (consultants, books, magazines, this thread:D) and see what works for you.

    .

We had a similar lecture last week - all this "Salad has to be on the same plate as your spag bol.. I really dislike soggy lettuce :D

it turns out that if the salad/fruit/[STRIKE]cardboard[/STRIKE]/other healthy stuff isn't on the same plate, 'they' fear you may leave the stuff that is designed to "fill you up" in favour of the food thats full of taste.
I think and this is only my theory on this - that if you stick veg IN a meal even if you don't have 1/3 on your plate you still fill more of your plate with it..
    Does that make sense?:rotfl:

I was wondering this - and tbh thats why I stick with green. I can see their point as I don't see how having 2 bits fo fruit after a meal to make up your 1/3 is going to stop you over eating the main bit of the meal, whereas having a big salad with it would. Plenty of people will think oh its free I can just eat a huge plateful and I can make up the 1/3 superfree another time/ later...
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

i have always loosly followed the plan more as "one third of the day" superfree, as opposed to one third of the plate,

and the consultant always was happy to encourage me to do this,

BUT on the night i got my 5stone award, she said it had changed and now it was strictly "one third of your plate"

i am torn between "if its not broke, dont fix it" and trying to make more of an effort to make it more one third of a meal,

Hello! I joined SW two weeks ago, I am on the Extra Easy plan. The first week I lost 4lbs and was really pleased but this week ( weigh in tonight) I think I have only lost 1 or maybe 2 !
I know I wasnt quite as good( but still pretty good) and one day I had a wrap, thinking it would be similar in syns to a slice of bread , I didnt check until later and it was 8.5! Not looking forward to tonight and feeling cr*p about it.
I find the social asp[ect difficult, drinks with friends/lunches out etc.
Also, I can only find low fat yogurt, not fat free, I cant get Quark at all,nor fat free natural fromage frais! Can anyone tell me the difference between fromage frais and creme fraiche please?

everyone tends to have good first week loss then it evens out to 1 to 2 pounds a week average. generally the big losers will be the ones who have lots to loose in the first place.

with socialising the thing to do is plan, plan, plan. how many drinks do you usually have? what are they? can you swop to a lower syn option? if you cant can you get round it by saving up the weeks syns and have 105 for the week? can you/are you happy to flexi syn it?

when you go out look at the menu beforehand and make a choice over what you think is good when you have your SW head on in a nice quiet place. deciding when you are there with everyone else around you choosing to have everything you know you shouldn't will be hard to resist. either look for lean meat/fish, salads, pasta dishes etc and watch out for sauces that involve cream/wine.

with fat free yogurt and fromage frais, i personally don't touch the stuff. i buy the good quality full fat natural yogurt and count it as "free". the sweeteners in the fat free are just far too sweet for my liking and set me up for a day of craving sugar and i just don't get that when i eat the proper stuff. I've had days where one muller light has turned into epic chocolate cravings whereas i usually just don't get choccy cravings at all. its def not official SW, but its what I've found works for me.

Hi and thanks! I normally have about two gin and slimline and two glasses of wine each saturday and Sunday. How many syns would I need to save for that? I think the problem lies in the fact the alcohol weakens the determination, when I see others having handfuls of nuts/crisps I want them too!
I "only" have a stone in total to lose, it must have been beginners luck/fluid that first week.
I was thinking of switching over to the green plan as I dont eat very much meat and hate fish, but tbh I cant see what difference it would make.

its sooo dooable when u break it down like that, and i wish you ALL the luck in the world, i have everything crossed for you;)

i am defo going back to Florida at some stage, the photos i have from last time are.....:eek::eek: to say the least!!

when i did SE, i made a shepherds pie with LOTS of veg, and only a thin layer of potato,

also SW Burgers with no bap, and LOTS of salad, peppers, pineapples and just a handful of SW Chips,

and a big sunday dinner, with meat, LOTS of veg and again, just a little potato,

i only do it 2 or 3 days a week, and these are the dishes i tend to go with.

you could also make spag bol with lots of grated carrot, passata, tinned tomatoes, etc.

what i loved about SE and the real life saver with it was the 2ND portion of breads, i would keep a SW HiFi bar for night time, as my 2nd bread, that way it cut down on the syns also

heres to a BIG week for us both,

my next target is 6 stone award, (5.5lbs to go) and that will take me to 12.1, and then i just REALLY WANT TO SEE 11 on them scales!! then final target is 11.12:eek:

Well Piglet your nearly there, maybe we can both do a jig or maybe a reel? :rotfl:

    Go N-Eiri An T-Adh Leat x
