Last weeks unexpected (and devastating) weight gain may be slightly more explainable now - as * has arrived. Now I am normally in synch with DD1 and DD2 - but DD1 has informed me she's not due for over a week - so I have kicked in again at 21 days!

I think 'the change' is imminent!

£1 for 4 is really good, they are £1.79 at Tesco and that's apparently half price! They are so yummy but I wouldn't pay £3.50ish for 4! I would love to try and make a desert using them, they remind me of panna cotta for some reason.....ohhhhh yum!

In our tesco they are £1 for four!

Total loss = 5 stone 12.5 lbs. / But now GAINED 1 STONE 1.5 LBS!!

This is the bhaji recipe from the thread. It's syn free so I don't know if you could adapt yours la lamb?

    Recipe:
    3 small potatoes
    Tin of chickpeas
    3 small onions
    Madras curry powder
    Turmeric
Asafoetida (This is in the recipe but I don't know what it is! :o)
    Salt and pepper
    1 egg

Preheat the oven at 220 degrees C. Chop the potatoes into smallish cubes and boil. Fry the onions until soft, before adding the potatoes and the chickpeas, drained, to the frying pan. Add large pinches of the spices to the pan and mix in before frying on a low heat for a few more minutes. Mash the contents of the pan until all the potatoes and chickpeas have formed a thick paste. Shape, bake.

Where did you get your jalfrezi recipe from? I'd love to see it.

Thanks for that, will have a look at the ingredients and see if I can tweak it to suit my tastes.

The jalfrezi is really simple and quick to make

This would serve 3 or 4 people
    You will need
Green chillis finely chopped( the more you add the hotter it will be)
    Turmeric - about 1 teaspoon
    Cumin Seeds - I use approx 2 - 3 teaspoons
2 or 3 cloves of garlic
Either tinned tomatoes or you can do your own from fresh tomatoes, removing the skin.
    Chicken breast
    Garam Masala
Fat free yoghurt - I only use a little, I don't like it too tangy
    Peppers
    Onions

So fry your green chillis, cumin seeds and garlic in fry light briskly watching the garlic doesnt burn
I add a little bit of garam masala here too
Then add your tomatoes, let it cook on a highish heat, add your turmeric and stir. Then add your chicken breast(no need to brown your chicken breast before hand) add your yoghurt, a bit of water about a cup. Then let it cook for approx 30 mins. I always taste it, and if there isn't enough spice I add a little more cumin powder and maybe some curry powder.
Then in a seperate pan fry your peppers and onions in fry light, add your garam masala and fry for approx 2 -3 mins then you can add it to the curry, cook for a further 5-10 mins.

The way I used to make curry was frying onion and peppers first but this is the way it should be cooked, adding it last to leave it with a bit of a crunch and not soggy.
I've been using this recipe for years, it is authentic, and very similar to what you would get from an Indian restaurant......the house smells lovely when I cook it!
