Maximo I use up all my syns each week, sometimes saving them for the weekend so I can have a few glasses of wine or pudding on a Sunday. That is the only time we have pud in our family.

I was weighed on different scales, yet again at the hospital today and, I think, I have lost 1.5 lbs. The woman who was calculating weights was dividing lbs by 14 and giving that resuklt as stones and lbs. I tried to explain where she was going wrong but then gave up. Mine said 167.5lbs which she took to be 11st 9lbs. I took it to be 11st 13.5lbs. Everyone else went away thinking they had lost up to 6.5lbs!! When they obviously hadn't. I couldn't spoil their joy.

Interested to know how you work that out as I always thought you divided pounds by 14 to get the stones and pounds weight. I weigh in kilos so don't really understand stones and pounds but just interested to know. Aren't there 14lbs in a stone?

  • We have had a large number of stand-in consultants recently as we were between leaders - and each one has given a different answer to these questions - some had said use all your syns, some said to vary it and not to worry (but the advice in group is to aim for 10 not 15 these days). The using your HEA/B's has got people in our group vexed. Personally I try to make sure I eat both - so I get my calcium and my fibre.

I was told this morning to make sure I had my As and Bs (I don't always) from both a health and weight loss perspective and to aim for 10 syns a day rather than the 15 I was previously told.

There are 14lbs in a stone, but if you do a straight division it doesn't work. Using my start weight as an example: I was 148lbs which divided by 14 is 10.57 but that doesn't equate to 10st5lb which I'm guessing is what poohs nurse was doing. It is actually 10st8lb, which you would get if you did the extra calculation at the end of 14 x 0.57 and added that onto your 10st.

    Hope that makes sense?

Maths was never my strong point but am even more confused :o I understand that if its .57 you round up to the next whole number so with Pooh's weight I would say 11st 10lb [rounded up] but where do you get the extra 3.5lbs? Told you I was confused :D

When I divided 148 by 14 I got 10.57, which is 10st and 0.57 of a stone. To work out what 0.57 of a stone is you multiply 0.57 by 14 as that's how many pounds are in a stone. This gives 8lbs, so the weight is 10st8lbs.

Oh no, I done that a few weeks ago, I weigh myself in the house on a Wednesday morning, and post-poo I had lost another 0.5lb :D:T. Day 4 of poo-gate now, still no sign  think I will double up lactulose tonight, had to cancel docs tomorrow as boss is on holiday :o

Can I ask why everyone uses co-op WM pitta, I just usually use asda or tesco ones???

Well done to all that lost :T

    Todays EE Plan

B - Berries, melon, pineapple with FF nat yoghurt
L - Leftover fajita pasta (without cheese) from last night
    melon, apple
D - Gammon Steak, SW chips, prob large salad or large veg
S- Toffee muller, banana, sesame ryvita (HEB), 3 LCL & little milk (HEA)

I think co-op pitta is the only recognised HE pitta. Asda was then changed recipe so wasn't now I'm not sure if it is or not. Tesco pitta isn't a HE though.
If I'm wrong, which I have been know to be :D I'm sure someone more up to date than me will set me straight because everyone is so :A here.
