My DH rarely uses his syns. If he's does it's on booze. He loses weight like a crazy thing (so many men do). Lots of people say that you should use all your syns but I'm never sure about that - I think if you're in danger of going off track they are useful, but you shouldn't eat them for the sake of it. That's what I think anyway.0

Hi-well I've followed the EE plan for a week now and it is D day this evening-WI! I'm really nervous in case I get on the scales and have put on about 7lbs! I have really enjoyed my food this week and stuck to the diet so we'll see-i'm going to persevere with this though because I've eaten so much fruit and veg this week and not snacked on bread and choccies that it can't be bad for me. Well done everyone who lost weight. LOL at the poo stories-I had an op about a month ago and the codeine completely stopped me from going for a week! My doctor warned me that codeine was addictive but I'd never be addicted to constipation!
:rotfl:
Good luck for WI, I know people that have gained the first week then lost loads the second...
However I really don't think you have anything to be worried over - the art is sticking to it THIS week...so many I see come in second week, relaxing after loosing loads the first week and then wondering why they haven't lost.. most jump right back on the wagon after realising, some never come back0 -
I was wanting to join this thread and wondered if I could ask you experts a quick question....
Both hubby and I are following the plan, I have 2stone to get to my target and hubby has (a lot) more but it is easier both doing it. We are both doing EE at the moment. I know you are are allowed up to 105 syns a week so around 15 a day, is it better to "use these up" or not if I don't fancy anything. In the past my weight loss has always been slow (not on SW) when I have tried and I am worried that if I actually use the syns every day then my losses will be lower than if I didn't. My diet so far has been some days of no syns and some where I have used them for stuff like gravy/ butter but no real treats like choccy. On the optomising are you better to use them?
Also - hubby rarely used his HEA (the milk one) or only part uses it like 2 extra low laughing cow triangles. A work colleague says that he ought to have his full quota every day for best weight loss - is this correct (ignoring of course the lack of calcium in his diet lol!)
Thanks
This is what I do, a lot of times, what I do is have 3 triangles, with 3 sesame ryvita, I count that as 3/5 of my HEA and measure out 150ml skimmed milk which gives me a wee drop milk for a couple of coffees. Hope that makes sense :rotfl: Good luck on your SW journey:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

i think with syns the first rule is like with any other food, if you don't need/want to eat it then don't. forcing yourself to eat something won't do you any good.
your syns are there to stop feelings of depravation and so you can have treats in moderation. SW is a live-it, not a diet so it is supposed to be something you can comfortably do forever, not just cutting out everything you love and starving yourself until you loose weight. if you feel that you don't need/want any syns then thats fine, just as feeling that you need to eat a dairy milk and use your days syns on it is fine too.
I've found in the years I've been doing it that i don't miss daily chocolate as much, i'd rather have my fix from a proper sundae if I'm out for a meal. the things i do miss are cheese, yorkshire puddings, gravy, proper sauces and freshly baked white bread with proper butter :drool:0 -
Missimaxo- I use all my syns, the consultant at the group I joined said they stand for synergy and you should use them as it helps the plan work. Don't go stuffing yourself if you're not hungry though, work them into your plan.
On your husbands dairy- there was an experiment done on a show I watched, week 1 the man ate a regular though pretty healthy diet, week 2 he ate exactly the same but upped his intake of low fat dairy. During both weeks he collected poo samples (how do I always end up back to poo?) and they were analysed. In week 2 he pooed out a lot more fat than in week 1, so despite actually taking more calories on board his body was actually shifting more fat.
I think the moral of that ramble was eat all your A choice...The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Maximo I use up all my syns each week, sometimes saving them for the weekend so I can have a few glasses of wine or pudding on a Sunday. That is the only time we have pud in our family.
I was weighed on different scales, yet again at the hospital today and, I think, I have lost 1.5 lbs. The woman who was calculating weights was dividing lbs by 14 and giving that resuklt as stones and lbs. I tried to explain where she was going wrong but then gave up. Mine said 167.5lbs which she took to be 11st 9lbs. I took it to be 11st 13.5lbs. Everyone else went away thinking they had lost up to 6.5lbs!! When they obviously hadn't. I couldn't spoil their joy.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

We have had a large number of stand-in consultants recently as we were between leaders - and each one has given a different answer to these questions - some had said use all your syns, some said to vary it and not to worry (but the advice in group is to aim for 10 not 15 these days). The using your HEA/B's has got people in our group vexed. Personally I try to make sure I eat both - so I get my calcium and my fibre.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
