Hi Purplebutterfly and other beauty-ful ones!
I'm afraid I am still hanging around baby-less! Have spent most of the last 2 days in hosp though as they are still desperate to induce me, I have had the willpower to say I am hanging on till Monday night when I have agreed to go in. Had a stressful day, the consultant actually said to me "well it would be a shame for a much wanted pregnancy to end with foetal mortality" - for REAL!! Looking back I don't know how I kept my cool. I am only 8 days overdue! (Sorry, vent alert!)
So please send all your poppy out baby vibes to me for this weekend
That's a shocking way for anyone to speak to you.
Lots of things to try to bring on labour - s3x (as has been suggested), pineapple, curry, large glass of fizzy juice ...
Hope the little one decides to make an appearance soon.
Tom & Katie getting divorced - it was supposed to be her that initiated proceedings. I felt sorry for the poor girl, she's looked like a shadow of her old self for so long now.0 -
Thanks for all the kind words ladies
It makes me feel better knowing others agree with me and that the LO can happily cook a bit longer and maybe even pop out. She really was a horrible woman that consultant and I hope she has nothing to do with my birth. Just got back from hospital and had a 'textbook' CTG, monitored for an hour and the baby moved over 120 times! The MW said to me 'don't you worry about this baby at all' so I think I will have a relaxed night tonight. Will keep trying all the bring out baby techniques!
I agree with all the Tomkat talk by the way - can't believe she lasted 5 years! Tom seems to have a bit of a screw loose and I think she got carried away in the romance of being with her childhood idol.
Hope some boxes come soon, there's lots of us addicts here feeling all neglected!0 -
Just playing devil's advocate here (I personally think that was a horrible thing to say rose80 and if I were you I'd ask to see a different doctor) but I do think that doctors are under a lot of pressure these days in terms of what action to take. Instead of it simply being a case of "we'll let baby take its own time" they also have to think about "if baby ends up in distress and the worst happens, we'll get sued".
A lot of what doctors say can be attributed to having to cover themselves in case of litigation - which is not what doctors really want to do but they have no choice. It doesn't make it any nicer for the patient to hear though
I personally hate it when I read about compensation claims in the paper. In cases of genuine error where a person is left needing expensive, lifelong aftercare then I have sympathy. What irritates me is when people say "no amount of money will bring gran back, we only sued to get an apology" - but then they pocket £100,000 as well!
The goverment has to put billions of pounds aside each year for NHS litigation cases - imagine what that money could do if it was actually put into paying nurses, buying equipment or funding treatments.
When I went into hospital with a blood clot on my lung. I couldn't breathe so was on oxygen and writhing in pain. I was admitted to a hospital ward at 2am and then not seen by a docotr until 7am. I didn't get any pain relief either. When I was finally seen, the doctor looked at my notes and said "I see you take medication for depression. This is obviously just a panic attack and part of your mental health problems!"
I called a nurse and asked to be seen by another doctor who arrived after a further 3 hours but instantly diagnosed a blood clot. I ended up in hospital for 5 weeks because my lung collapsed after the clot dispersed.
I've had botched operations which still leave me in pain 10 years later and I've even been given the wrong meds whilst in hospital but I'd never consider suing. At the end of the day, I am grateful to be receiving free treatment for complicated illnesses and I'd feel guilty about depriving other people of care if I took money out of the system.
Sorry, rant over, just having one of those nights!Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

Totally agree with you here PB. When I had a car crash 5 years ago and I was standing on the side of the road with my poor car sadly sandwiched between 2 cars, there were people driving past and shouting "don't forget to claim for your neck"
I was in shock, my car was written off and my back, neck and foot all suffered from the accident, however at the time of shouting these people didn't know I was hurt and were just saying it because its what they would have done.
After my OH came to rescue me, he went to work and telling his colleagues what had happened was told to make sure I claimed compensation. Again at that point no-one knew I was injured.
We live in such a bad society when peoples first consideration is "how much can you claim" rather than "are you ok". After all the money for compensation has to come from somewhere doesn't it, so just ends up costing us all in the end.
I'm not saying its always wrong to claim but surely it should only be when actual loss has happened, whether monetary or health wise, not as a matter of hurt feelings.
On a happier note my LIB box came today and SSB is being despatched on Monday. At last :T

I will try Saraann, not looking good though only one sleep left! Wish I had the guts to take it longer but to be honest they have really put the fear in me now so feel like I can't. Sorry to hear of your horrible experience!
Rosemary, this is what I'm hoping for, heard lots of stories of the LO coming en route to the hospital to be induced!0 -
Wishing you well Rose80 for today, and tomorrow. I hope nature takes its course. Have you tried any of the suggestions to try and induce your baby naturally?New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0
