Would someone look at my Highjackthis log if I put it on a pm?
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • I could be wrong, (someone will correct me if I am!) but I think
keenval is a form of spyware/browser hijacker otherwise known as Keenvalue and possibly related to Kazaa.

Did you get rid of Kazaa?

Have a read of this and tell us if it sounds like what you've got.

I suggest you ask strike eagle to look at your log. He seems like a guy 'in the know'! ;D

  • tried a google and found the following https://www.NoAdware.net which says they remove Keen Value trojans. I have Not used them so do not know how good they are.
My link worked for me, are you using Firefox 0.9.3?

Yes I read that Ausielle, thanks for the link. It's not any help for the version I have though, I did look into it.

I haven't got rid of Kazaa, I might when I get the trojan sorted though. It's so distracting with the boxes popping up all the time that you have to react to...Spybot & Spyspweeper asking me what to do every minute. Still it must have been worse for you as didn't your computer keep crashing?

    Peter,
I had a look at the link but have already tried a similar thing; the scan is free but they want paying to remove the problems.

panda Activescan scaned and removed a virus for me a few months ago.

Two reasons why I haven't mentioned it before. Firstly, I can't get it to work the last few times I visited. Secondly, they don't encrypt their virus database so that when you use your normal antivirus later, it thinks the database (probably still in your temp download area) is a virus - Gave me a scare till I found out what it was

EDIT: I think you have to use Explorer with it not firefox
  • Sorry about that but unless you can get someone to look at and help with the Hi-jack this log you are going to have to bite the bullet and get it checked by experts. I'm sure everyone would help if they could but somethings are beyond us. If there are somethings which you would rather not be seen couldn't you just edit them out of the log post(cross you fingers the bogeyman isn't in there)

  • I'm all out of ideas Fran. ???

You'll just have to decide which 'need' is greater

the need to get your puter fixed 8)

    or

the need to keep hidden whatever you think will be on your hijack log ;) ;D

StrikeEagle has kindly offered to look at the log (so you won't see what I've got starting up on my computer Ausielle! ;D)

    Sra55,
I tried to get the Panda thing but couldn't get it.

Peter & Ausielle, thanks for replying. :)

Computer - This is your last chance....... ::)

Yes I'll let you know.. at the moment all is calm on Mozilla, it's as soon as you touch Internet Explorer or try to do other things. I have improved it slightly by continual scans and downloads but it's still there (or they). I lost my hotmail account and have had problems with msn too, don't know if it's related as people do seem to have probs with hotmail generally. I was given the address of a free web-based email last night... http://www.softhome.net

One thing I've learnt is to write down everything I am trying to do, cos when things pop up all the time you lose track of the great solution you were just about to download or whatever.

    :( on Internet Explorer
    :) on Mozilla
