Morning all, well i've had an updated account balance on the old mortgage and it's down to 102,772:) thinking about switching to an offset mortgage next time, it's due for renewal in April next year so i'm hoping by then we might be down to under 100k and with the savings i think we could end up paying an interest rate around 2.5% if we offset rather than 4.5% if we go fixed. Not sure what to do though as the offset mortgage would mean taking a variable rate:~) hmm...
Other than this everything is ticking along ok. We are just about breaking even at the end of the month now i'm back to work, so having to be quite strict but i think it's worth it so i don't have to increase my hours.
Hope everyone is ok:)0 -
Well, i'm trying to get back into the Mortgage Free way of things, i've got £7.73 in the mortgage free pot and am aiming to make an extra payment on top of the usual £100 in October. I have some bits i'm ready to ebay and am aiming to do it next free listing weekend. I have also made OH aware of the financial strain we are in since i went back to work after my maternity leave finished. It's crazy how easy it is to lose focus on the finances when you don't stick to the budgets or the diary or anything. I feel like i have to be on it all the time and that i need to have more focus on these things.
I so want to be mortgage free. I know that £100 a month extra at the current interest rate will mean knocking the mortgage down to 18 years, but it still seems so far away:(0 -
Right, i'm setting a challenge to myself of increasing my OP target to £1500 for the year. This will mean an extra £400 on what i said at the start of the year. It means finding an extra £56 on top of the usual £100 monthly OP. So £18.67 per month, or about £4.60 per week. Right, so plan is. Meal planning, so that hopefully there is something left at the end of the week to pop into the MF pot. Ebay, i haven't got a huge amount worth doing but every little will help, go through the CD's and music magpie any we don't want any more ...0

Well pleased with myself:)
Ebay items listed is sitting at 7 with a total value starting bids of £41 so if they all sell just for their starting bid then i'm almost at target:)
