Evening all, and the eve of 2020 it is, crazy how time flies.

I am still on the MF journey and we have made a lot of headway. Current mortgage now stands at 71500 so we are doing well. I think finances have taken a back seat though. In 2016 I lost my dad suddenly to cancer. From diagnosis to death was only 3 weeks and it has definitely changed the way I look at money in terms of spending vs saving. My dad was a saver. He spent his life pinching pennies. He wasn't miserly and he would share what he had but he never took time to enjoy himself and treat himself or my mum. Since he died I have become less money focused, and for the short term I think that was right to do, but now I feel ready to rejoin the journey in earnest.

I will be 40 this coming year. And so I am going to try an accomplish 40 things.

I'm not sure what all 40 will be yet but they are beginning to formulate into some sort of list and then a plan will follow.

I like how the numbers 20 and 20 make 40 xx

Morning all. Decided to meal plan today so I can shop cheaply.

    Sunday- Chilli, Rice, Tortilla, Salad
Monday- Buttenut squash stew, quinnoa, salad
Tuesday- Vegetable and lentil soup with pasta
Wednesday- Cattage pie, carrots, peas and sweetcorn
Thursday- Jacket potato with chilli, beans and cheese
Friday- Sausage and bean casserole with potato wedges
    Saturday- Pizza, chips and salad

I have done the list and I am stick in my to it!

I need a few bits to top up the fridge to make the evening meals, I have loads of soup in the freezer for lunches but also need to get a few bits for LO for her pack lunch.

    Right, off to shops xx
  • Sorry to hear about your dad ecoelle, that must have been so difficult as you didn’t have any time to Deal with what was happening. It’s a difficult balance, living life to the full but future proofing at the same time. X

Yes,it was a massive shock, he was in his mid 60's and had a heart problem which the hospital managed to fix, then they found he had stage 4 bowel cancer and within 3 weeks he died. It was the hardest thing i have ever had to do to watch him go. But he went at home with all his family there, which is what he wanted.

I have meal planned again based on what we already have in the freezer to use up. I made a load of curry last week and chilli and soup so we have a few of the same meals we had last week but i'm not bothered by that.

Monday- Sausages, hash browns, baked beans. Stew for me
Tuesday- Jacket potatoes with chilli or beans
    Wednesday- Curry, rice
    Thursday- Pasta and meatballs
Friday- Sausage and bean casserole with potato wedges
    Saturday- Pizza, chips and salad
    Sunday- Picky tea

Right, just done the online order for Iceland and it came to £45. It's more than I would like but i have ordered more tinned things than I will use in a week so I get free next day delivery, and It means I don't need to carry tins from town. We don't have a car so I am always trying to figure out how to get the heavy shopping home in the easiest way possible.

Today I am cooking up some grains to have in the fridge for easy salad bowls for lunches. Also using up a bit of vegetable rice and a bit of curry from last night so that's lunch sorted.

Went to my first allotment training session this weekend and it was great, met lots of nice people and enjoyed looking round the allotments and seeing the different ways people choose to grow stuff.

We are on the list for an allotment at our local site. I looked at today's shopping and if we had our own veg and some fruit it would have saved us about £10 off the shop. I think it could be more if we plant the right stuff.

Anyway. off to do lunch now and then a bit of cleaning before school pick up.

Morning all, the food has been delivered, LO's bed is stripped and the washer is on. I am trying to tidy LO's room but my goodness she has a lot of rubbish. It's just 'stuff' she hoards rubbish...I hate it, can't even walk in her room without stepping on something. How doesit not bother her?!?

Anyway, i am determined to hoover upstairs today, and to get a nice dinner cooked.

    xx

Morning all, quiet here today, washing on, bread rising, got to nip to the shops later, going to the local ones so i can get the bits for LO's packed lunch. Tomorrow my in laws have offered to take me to Aldi so i can do a big shop on the cheap. Busy deciding on the weeks menu so i can make the list. I know i need the usual bits like milk, bread, juice but i want to decide on a menu so i can shop efficiently.

Been at the allotments again yesterday, i can't wait to get our own, we have been on the list so long now and i just want to get going!

Happy Sunday all and I hope you enjoy whatever you have planned x
