Ipad Woes!

I do have an iPad 2, and do love it too.
Incidentally, any android phone will allow you to tether, make sure your mobile usage will allow it. (most don't in the T&C, but don't stop it either (in my experience)
You can by in large avoid using iTunes. Once it's set up, music transferred maybe. Other apps can be used to do other things, like ebooks, movie watching/transferring etc. I only plug it into itunes for a fortnightly/monthly back up, otherwise it doesn't see it any other time!0 -
Wow, what have I started, lol. For the record I've never been a fan of Apple in the past but I recently got to use an iPad 2 and found it intriguing. When the latest one came out last weekend I thought I'd take the leap and see what all the fuss is about. I'm so glad I did! It works wonderfully. More importantly my wife, who is (was) a technophobe is now lying on the couch with the iPad in her hands because it makes a great substitute for the Radio Times. I meanwhile can actually see my wife because I'm not sitting in the computer (geek) room on my PC or PS3. It also hasn't crashed once since I got it and the dreaded iTunes does seem to have improved a bit although having to use it at all is far from ideal. Furthermore, my dad, who's in his 70's, would love to be surfing the web but most of the time I'm his go-to call centre when he's on the PC. I think things would be different if he had an iPad. I love it. So much so that I've ordered an iPhone 4S which will allow me to tether the iPad when out & about.
Just for info "apparently" there are issues with the new ipad getting "warm/hot" but I only had one ear on CNBC this afternoon when it was reported.
I have no real grouse against Apple except the fact it is a "walled garden" and Steve Jobs was quite the visionary but then so were Einstein and Gates4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . No, not if it's to ask someone else to be polite and respectful who I feel otherwise isn't. Be polite and respectful, and I won't be required to make such suggestions
By the sounds of it this is the usual 'it's doing more and working harder so it's therefore getting warmer' scenario we see over and over as devices get more and more powerful, and work harder and get warmer :PJust for info "apparently" there are issues with the new ipad getting "warm/hot" but I only had one ear on CNBC this afternoon when it was reported.
Hehe, that's precisely what makes Apple as successful as they are. If they didn't have that, they'd just be another Microsoft or Google.I have no real grouse against Apple except the fact it is a "walled garden" and Steve Jobs was quite the visionary but then so were Einstein and Gates0 -

soz if you took it like that, was just trying to point out that just because something doesn't work with an apple anything, doesn't mean it's the other device that's at fault - maybe I should have just said it that way first and be done with it... but then healthy debate of differing points of view is healthy in itself............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Of course not... but in this instance it is the other device that doesn't work as intended. There's nothing wrong with the iPad; it's Epson's lousy solution that's the problem!0 -

AirPrint isn't normal IP printing though. IP printing involves sending a print request via a print driver to the printer. AirPrint cuts out the print driver section and deals directly with the printer. Therefore, if a printer doesn't work with AirPrint, it's because the printer manufacturer hasn't done whatever it is they need to do to make their printer AirPrint compatible. An AirPrint compatible printer will work as the OP was expecting; i.e., without the need to go via their desktop or laptop computer or have either of them switched on or nearby.0 -
No it doesn't, LPR/LPD has nothing to do with proprietary printer drivers whatsoever, sorry we(well I) will have to leave it now I need to eat my meds and visit my bed, been fun for now:pmrochester wrote: »AirPrint isn't normal IP printing though.
