Does the Galaxy Tab print directly to a printer?
Surely you are missing the point Mrochester the post is not about printing directly to a printer, but about printing wirelessly, there are applications (rather than i-apps) that use lpr or cups or whatever , but of course apple don't allow iDiots to use them4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I'm still not convinced of the NEED for tablets just yet at all, having played with a couple (of both varieties I may add),never mind being able to print directly from them...
Well the tablet market is certainly exploding at the minute so there's definitely plenty of people who are after one and as such it's the printer manufacturers' responsibility to cater to that demand.
That's all irrelevent really because it doesn't help the OP to get his printer working the way he's expecting it too. Luckily, it seems like he's going to be able to get it resolved.0 -
Tablets and hand held devices will be the way forward (imo)
iPad is a "proper" one, so to say it isn't, just shows an ignorance towards an apple product. I love how many will say what do you expect, it's apple. Their products are good, they do what they were created for, and well made. No it's not cheap, but then the price between a decent tablet is not that far off of an iPad persay. Both being "proper" tablets.
Ultimately who brought smart phones to the table? Apple, who followed after? Android. Maybe with out some of the push forward technology that apple has created, as well as other manufacturers out there, we'd still be dialing up on our nokia bricks? And by first to the table, I mean as a highly desired do all compact mobile phone, mass produced, mass sold.
Don't hate on it because it's apple. Hate on it because it doesn't work, or is Cr*p.
I have never gotten my Xoom tablet to print, so maybe I can call it a useless product because of that way, however it doesn't kill me to get off my backside and print using other means...
The sheer number of people who go out and buy a product and instantly expect ultimate compatibility with any other product astounds me. Printers were made for WINDOWS. simple as. usually the fact it works with a Mac is a bonus (and unless it's ancient, not an issue), even with Linux, or other similar operating systems too.
A simple Google would have brought up the info needed.
Thus said, the day that this all becomes instant and easy like it's supposedly sold as, will be a nice day! We need LCARS, that thing worked for generations, and was fine!0 -

this is true, but I honestly believe tablets are still in the "hula-hoop fad" kinda stage, rather than being of much real use as yet. Like I said, I've played around with a couple and still don't get it, apart from maybe on a train, and you've still got to hold the d@mn thing :mad:mrochester wrote: »That's all irrelevent really because it doesn't help the OP to get his printer working the way he's expecting it too. yeah, fair cop, do apologise for going off-topic, but I've had a bad day and someone mentioned iThings - always a good target......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Sorry but printers were made for printing, IBM,Xerox,et al and designed before you youngsters worked on true terminals i.e. teletypes and also punched cards and paper tapes. Apple came much later despite what they said about Eve tempting Adam , and when they were around there were no Jobs(R.I.P. Sounds like you should stay away from the forums if you've had one of those days. There's no excuse for coming on and making inflammatory posts!0 -

Wow, what have I started, lol. For the record I've never been a fan of Apple in the past but I recently got to use an iPad 2 and found it intriguing. When the latest one came out last weekend I thought I'd take the leap and see what all the fuss is about. I'm so glad I did! It works wonderfully. More importantly my wife, who is (was) a technophobe is now lying on the couch with the iPad in her hands because it makes a great substitute for the Radio Times. I meanwhile can actually see my wife because I'm not sitting in the computer (geek) room on my PC or PS3. It also hasn't crashed once since I got it and the dreaded iTunes does seem to have improved a bit although having to use it at all is far from ideal. Furthermore, my dad, who's in his 70's, would love to be surfing the web but most of the time I'm his go-to call centre when he's on the PC. I think things would be different if he had an iPad. I love it. So much so that I've ordered an iPhone 4S which will allow me to tether the iPad when out & about.0
