Just done a pretty much whole length of the UK roadtrip and the number not only ON the phone, but using smartphones to surf the internet (I suspect the BBC Olympics site) balanced in increasingly precarious arrangements on steering wheels was insane.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

It's ridiculous to think that it's ok to do something illegal, just because someone else is doing something illegal too!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I've been reading your thread with interest and I know you're not supposed to promote products on here but this is very relevant. We sell a solution that stops drivers using smartphones while they are driving. It is aimed at companies but it will soon be available for consumers.
It is an app that detects the speed the device is moving at and, if it is above a threshold speed that can be changed, it blocks all access to the device.
It's not just about phone calls and hands-free. The issue is also email, texts, facebook, twitter and everything else that contributes to distracted driving.
If you have a hands-free kit fitted and your company allows you to use it (not all do) then it will allow this. If you are a passenger then there is a patented way of determining this so, unlike a jammer, a passenger can use the device but not the driver.
Any tampering is reported automatically to the business administrator . It also allows you to make an emergency call as this is the only time you can legally use a phone when driving if it is unsafe to stop.
We have just started selling this in the UK and we are having a very good response from many responsible businesses.
You can see it on our website. I can't post the link here but, if you are interested, look for G2M Technologies on Google and we are the first link. The product is called BizProtect.
Not a sales pitch but thought you might find it interesting to see there are solutions out there, it just takes time to raise awareness of them.0 -
Can you make one of those gadgets so phones can't be used in supermarkets. I am sick of selfish morons strolling round in circles or crashing into me while in the supermarket and on their stupid phones!!!!!!0

Too many idiots that think they are so good at driving and can use a phone, no m8 your not clever, your stupid.
Or the idiot this afternoon who pulled out in front of me and hubby,
the idiot was playing chase with his m8 in another car, pulled out and we would of gone straight into him, fortunately for him he had a brainwave moment and looked in his mirror, and pulled over quite quickly,
seeing as i was a passenger and not in a brilliant mood anyway, i called him a !!!!!! with hand signals, hubby was shocked at my reaction, knowing full well if we had, had to of pulled over with him i would of dragged myself out of the car and punched the driver, I was fuming, i don't get road rage as such, but i do get so annoyed at prats like this.0 -
What if there was a big car accident and no one could call for help because of your phone jammer!?
The easy solution is to make phone jammers that switch off when the ignition is off.
Since mobile phones are a cause of accidents, it's safer overall to have jammers fitted in cars.

To be honest, even using hands free, your attention is divided. I have a bluetooth headset and missed my turn off on the M40 because I had been complaining to BT. I knew I was coming up to the turn off, the SATNAV told me and I still missed it.
The safest option is not to use the phone at all.
I don't remember hundreds of people queing up at a public phone box before mobiles.0
