Grrrr! Drivers and mobile phones..

We were on M25 and a trucker was speeding up and slowing down (the biggest UK trucking company which is also the subject of a TV doco).
As we went past, the driver was texting on his Iphone- phone propped on steering wheel as he flicked glances at the road ahead, but not the cars next to him.
He was so scary, and swerving between 2 lanes, I took note of his details (I was a passenger) and dobbed him in to his employer.0 -
I see it all the time. I fail to understand what's so bloody important that they have to discuss it right then and there?
Automatic ban in my opinion. My hubby offered to get me a hands free kit and I said no, don't want to be on the phone at all when driving. It's unnecessary, if it's so important then pull over. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

They won't stop this until they invent a tamperproof way of blocking the phone signal while the engine is running.
Sounds simple enough ......0 -
I can't stand these people who use crossings whilst I am on an important phone call.......0

They could legislate for a low-level phone jammer to be installed in the electronic circuitry of new cars, or create an electronic "cage" round the car to stop signals passing through it.
The problem is that it could hardly be applied to existing cars - just to new ones and, by doing so, could be detrimental in the short term to the sales figures for new cars.
I don't think that any major party likely to form a government in the UK see phones and drivers as a priority. They pay lip-service to it, as do the police, but it's low on their lists of jobs that need tackling.0 -
