My eldest holiday with the lads....

he thanks me, is relived, rings up to confirm that it has gone through and he owes no more and then he gets told he has to pay the person who has dropped out around £40 so the woman on the phone said so he is upstairs ringing all his mates to ask them what is happening and if they knew this lad had pulled out...
Victory he does NOT have to pay the lad who has dropped out £40. If someone drops out last minute it's their loss.0 -
Victory, surely if someone has dropped out this would just go back to the original cost and who ever dropped out will lose their deposit?!
This is all I know so far....the woman on the phone told my son that 1 person had dropped out and the whole holiday has to be paid in complete on the 22nd March thursday, the person dropping out had paid some money yes but now the agency says it is the price as a whole based on the people going and 1 person not going still amounts to the same total so they all have to pay around £40 to pay the hol off in full.....?0 -

That is what I said to him and he rushed down with the slip that says total divided by the lads so one drops out and that should be his loss, his deposit gone but the agency are saying no the cost has to be paid in full as the room were allocated per cost per person per self catering apartment and he needs to tell his mates that one has come into the travel agency and told them he will no longer be coming....0 -

eta - I used to be a travel agent and I couldn’t care less if I used to have a customer pop in every day with a pound paid in pennies so long as the balance was paid on time!
If you were a travel agent then surely you are right and this cannot be? Son says the lady on the phone said they had to pay around £40 more each on top of the £19 I paid for him today because one of the lads has dropped out....
His mates say they are going to go on mass to the agency and talk to the agent, good on them.0 -
That's correct Victory, although technically if the boys hadn't been paying the travel agent in bits they would be holding nothing but the deposit right now. Trying to get the money back that has been paid without physically cancelling the whole lot is going to be tricky at this stage.
Still they do not have to pay the other lad £40 each, he's dropped out last minute. Best scenario is he tries to find someone to take his place so he doesn't lose his money.0 -

It’s a good 12 years since my travel agency days but they could either
- get another person to replace the dropout
- try and get the dropout to pay what is owed
- get the booking changed back to the original info when there was 80 -
Victory how much more money was owed, had this particular lad not paid much?
It does need the lads to go down there - there should be a lead name it is booked under, one of the lads who has taken responsibility for the booking and ultimately the money as it happens. They need to find out what's owed at this point.0 -

He says as he is only just found out he cannot think of anyone else that wants to go, he did not know about the dropout so will ask his mates what to do about that yes and yes point three seems a lot fairer to all concerned that one he can ask when they go to the agency thank you very much:D0 -

The one piece of paper he has is in one of the lads name with the total inclusive of vat and travel insurance and coach to and from the resort says the total at the top and then at the bottom right hand side it says owing £998.... no names, no exact payments per person just owed in with the 8.0 -
Yes that is all they are really bothered about Victory, it's a booking as a whole so they don't care who owes what. Fingers crossed for scenario three, then they'll get a slight reduction as no extra room required.0
