  • has anyone found the battery runs down too quickly? If I fully charge it, it says I have 3-4 hours of battery life, but it usually runs out in about half that time (I've been playing FM 2005 on it, so I don't know if that has an effect)

also, could someone who has already upgraded their memory to 512mb tell me how much "available physical memory" is showing up in the System Information window, as mine is only usually about 200-220mb before I load any programmes?

See the following for info on the available ram... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=39016&highlight=448mb

And yes.... I get 448MB showing.

I mentioned earlier, that one reason I bought the Laptop was so my son could play FM 2005 and I have found the same... namely that the battery drains real quick running FM 2005.

    That said I am hoping...

    a) This is due to the fan running continually. (ie I won't have battery issues when not running lesser stuff than FM 2005)

    b) Charging up and running down the battery a few times will improve it's performance.

    :D

Has anyone any idea how to get rid of the mousepad double click by tapping?

I have tried the control panel printers other hardware mouse settings, but there does not seem to be an option to stop it, only change the sensitivity?

    Ta in advance. :)

Either will work on most modern DVD players. In the end it comes down to price and personal choice.

If you have a particular DVD player in mind goto

    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

and search for your player. It will probably tell you what type(s) of dvdr it's compatible with along with lots of other interesting info. :)

Finally got time to fit my extra memory :)

The cover was *extremely* tight and I feared it would snap before it came off. I couldn't get it off with my fingers as when I tried to lift it I found my fingernails being ripped off! In the end I used a *plastic* ruler to help lever it off. If anyone else needs to use a lever remember to use something plastic (NOT metal) so you don't scratch the cover.

Big thanks for all the help. I now just need to change my network over to wireless using the PCWorld Buffalo combo pack I bought and with any luck I should be able to surf the net while sitting on my new M&S sofa I found using these forums. Or in my bedroom watching my 17" widescreen LCD TV...guess where I found that bargain? *big cheesy grin*

Mind you, knowing absolutely nothing about wireless I expect I have a few difficulties ahead.
  • Just to clear up on the posts earlier about the guy selling two of these laptops on ebay, he has had his second auction cancelled and his i.d removed for shill bidding.
Watch out, you never know who is about.
