Evening everyone
just sitting in the garden drinking a cup of coffee with the smell of next doors barbecue drifting over
Went to the local park to have my lunch today and top up vit D.
Was seated on a bench ready to munch on my sandwich, when a dog owner came over with a steamed up bag of dog poo and chucked it in the bin next to me
Suppose it was a mistake sitting near a bin.........
I love London parks - green in the city is a welcome oasis, especially if living in a flat with no garden. Dawned on me the other day I am still visiting parks I had played in as a child, taken my children to when they were young and now grandchildren
Good Luck with your op tomorrow Mummylala - can't wait to see how Nannylala gets on!0 -

WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?— No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

I was hoping it wouldn't be my second suggestion as I have the answer but not right now. I know how to do it but can't remember lol. I should get there in the morn - i like a good puzzles/mystery esp when i know the answer is somewhere in this shed of a brain.
Glad I can get your brain working out this puzzle lol- many thanks :TYessssssssssss, I've caught up again, had to go back and read 10 pages
3dogs Sorry you and Alan got messed about today, it is infuriating when you want to go out and nurse not turned up. Maybe you could have lunch out tomorrow all being well.
How is your mam doing these days? I often think of her and you and Alan. You are such a strong woman that is evident by your posts which I look forward to reading each night.
I think on that note I'd best say goodnight as my DS1 is coming tomorrow to take me out for a birthday lunch. Only our local Wetherspoons but as I've never been in there since it opened in January (I think) I'm looking forward to it. :j
Nite everyone, catch you all at some point tomorrow I'm sure.
Any glitches give me a loud shout please AND if there is anyone on here from the Ipswich area come out from the corner I'd love to have a 'meet' so PM me if you'd like to do that.
Nite nite xx
I have been meaning to do an update about Mam but not got round to it ............ thanks for reminding meAfter that massive haemorraghe, she was very lucid, using our names all the time and such like, then after a week or so, the alzheimers took over again and she knows who is there but only just
and she 'sees things and people, and has conversations with them
She has been shouting a lot recently, but again, it's the dementia and she settles when my Sis, Bro or Niece are there. She still eats everything put in front of her, bless, but despite this she is just skin and bones
She has gone back to talking to her teddies, as if they were bairns (babies
) and was shouting the other day that she was minding the bairns but that my Sis hadn't come back for them when she promised ....... and she gave my Sis a right earbashing when she turned up at teatime to visit   But then she forgets all about it
It is tough for the family with my Sis having broken her wrist (still in plaster for another 4 weeks) and hurt her back (can get comfy at home but hurts when sitting at Mam's bedside) plus on much reduced salary due to financial meltdown where she works, and my Bro not being that well (has diabetes and is learning at the moment to go onto insulin injections, plus has heart problems having had stents fitted last year). My Bro visits lunch-time and sis at tea-time, as we all like to have someone there for meals after several problems in the past   My niece works 3 days a week plus helps at the school 2 afternoons, and has her two girls to look after, so gets down to see her Gran on Monday and Friday mornings, plus during the day on Saturday. I have to put it out of my mind that I am not up there helping out, as Alan needs me more now, but looking forward to both going up in May/June :j :j
We never in a million years thought that, when she went in there after 3 weeks in hospital, in November 2010, that she would still be with us 16 months later  She is a stubborn old thing and is obviously much stronger than we all gave her credit for. 92 and still going, not strong, but still goingMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

seen as we are bringing out the poems.. i would like to share another of my favourites....... this also reminds me of my Grandad and will be getting a tattoo of the first 4 lines of this poem in rememberance.
- plus its very suiting for this time of year. x
Daffodils
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.Proud Mummy to a new little girl - Phoebe... born 11 days overdue on 3rd Jan 2012.0 -

I like Holloway too, he says it like it is, from the heart but had to laugh at that quote, I remember him saying it :rotfl: :rotfl: Mr 3Dogs wasn't too upset at S'land losing but was annoyed at how they playedIt would have been nice for them to get to Wembley but hey-ho at least they got this far this year
"We have no time to stand and stare" I love to 'stand and stare'. I was in the garden with the dogs before stopping Molly digging a whole so deep you could only see her back end  and I just stood staring around at the sky, thinking of Magicowen and others tips on what to look out for. When I get out of bed in the morning and open the curtains, I just stare out of the window for a while, watching birds or looking at the fruit or flowers .... or the weeds lol. We should all take the time to do this, as the poem says, but we should see and not just look, it's the difference between hearing and listening
Appreciate what you have around you guys, family, loved ones, pets, friends, nature, everything you hold dear, as you never know what is round the next corner .....

Just got back from Tesco and have 2 packets of bread mixes now. Am soooooo excited that i finally got them. I'll bake them sometime this week..hopefully they are worth all the trouble i went through.:) I love bread.
ps: for those people whose bread are not turning out properlÿ:
- if the bread is too hard or not rising enough--> you need to work the dough a bit longer. kneading releases the gluten which encourages the dough to rise
- if its not rising at all --> you've got your water temperature wrong. check for warm temperature by running the water on your wrist - too hot = dead yeast, too cold = dormant yeast. you want it to be lukewarm-ish
- let the dough rise in a warmish environment, near the radiator or near the hob before shaping and baking.
- if you are making the ciabatta, you need to handle minimally after the dough have risen, coz too much handling will destroy the air pockets. its best to shape it before leaving the dough to rise.
ps: to the person who's hand mixer packed up while mixing the bread dough - i am pretty sure you cannot use hand mixers on bread dough because the mixers rotate at x number of speed per minute and bread dough is far too thick for it to rotate at that speed. you'll end up burning the motor.
for those making cakes with the mixes - avoid overbeating as overbeating will release the gluten, which is great in bread but not a good thing in cakes. gluten causes tunnelling and you wont have the light fluffy texture.
off to bake now - night alll.
purdita - congrats! Freya is such a lovely name:)
* Oh no, she's saying the g word. She's repeating the g word. lutzi dons protective clothing, crosses herself and sticks a string of garlic round her neck.*
For lutzis, gluten is the food of the devil. Not nice.
