Leisure
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?— No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
I love this poem too. W H Davies was a Welsh poet (no, nothing to do with WH Smith and free gift cards!). He was a tramp in the old fashioned sense of the word. We should all take time out to stand and stare. x0 -

My local are not brilliant for wombles - one day I spotted the trolley guy pick up a receipt and put it inside what looked like a wallet in his coat! It seems I have competition :eek:0 -

Thanks for your reply. Were you awarded them on the first day or a couple of weeks ago?0 -
Afternoon all
Just a quickie from me to say that my daughter had a baby girl in the early hours of this morning.
Baby is doing fine but mum not so good at the moment.
It was a home birth and was really quick and easy but the placenta wouldn't come away and she lost a lot of blood.
I had a call at 4am to ask if I could get there ASAP but I live 10 miles from them so it was a mad dash! I got there just as my daughter was being driven away in the ambulance with a paramedic car in attendance too
So I didn't get chance to see her or my new grandaughter, but my SIL said she has masses of dark hair. She weighed in at 8lbs exactly and they are calling her Freya
I've been all morning cleaning carpets, sofa's, rugs, and I've still not removed all traces of blood.
At hospital Michelle was given an anaesthetic and the afterbirth was removed but her blood pressure is really low and they are monitoring here to see if she needs a transfusion.
Other than that...everything is fine. :T
Sorry to hear about the trauma that followed the birth and hope your daughter recovers quickly, congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter!!!!Getting rather annoyed and Alan has got quite despressed as he was looking forward to going down to car boot cafe and having a late lunch there, and a natter, but we are still waiting for District NurseI did ring at 12.45pm to be told that he is on the list but 'they do work from 8am to 4.30pm you know'  alan got annoyed as they have told him to get up and get about a bit, then he is kept in all day waiting for the nurse   He was not a happy bunny so went for a nap about 1.15pm

Tuesday: General Knowledge 6 : Very Difficult
Was the first person to do the quiz this morning, then set off on a 400mile round trip to spend (what was left after driving) the day with my Mum, and thought I'd come back to find myself bottom of the pile... so pleased to see I'm not!!
Shattered and no time to read back, so goodnight all and I'll catch up tomorrow. The mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it's open0
