This might turn into a long epistle and also O/T to start so please feel free to skip on by.......:(

I really needed to get out of town today after an upsetting and traumatic evening yesterday. This involved the police, a forced entry, paramedics, an emergency trauma doctor and a dead neighbour! So a trip through the countryside to the many, (and cheap) chazzas of Otley proved to be just the job.....and I found some lovely bargains too.

First stop the St Gemma's 99p shop....some great bargains in there today. First I found a David Emanuel dark peach coloured cardi, (hellooo Polllycat, or Polecat as my pooter insists on calling you!). It's bum covering length and with a swingy back so will be great with skinny jeans. Then I found an M & S, Special Collection jersey top with elbow length sleeves in a mink colour and BNWT too. Both items 99p each. I discounted a Berketex navy & white jersey dress with a knotted/twisty top as it was on their 'specials' rail and they wanted the outrageous(!) price of £3.99 for it. I also talked myself out of a shantung silk, aubergine coloured shorty jacket even tho it was only 99p. Then finally in this chazza I found the item that has given me a great deal of pleasure to find.... a pure silk, Jim Thompson large square scarf with parrots on in shades of black, blue and green. A couple of years ago I was in Bangkok on holiday and visited the 'Jim Thompson House', gardens, museum and shop there...he was an American who had a very mysterious life but is credited with resurrecting the silk industry in Thailand in the mid 20thC. At the time I would have loved to purchase something as a souvenir but the prices in the shop were astronomical so I didn't. My lovely parrot scarf was also 99p. The uncanny thing is - I was looking on Fleabay for Chrimbo prezzies recently and came across an old but unworn Jim Thompson silk tie which I purchased as a prezzie for the friend that I went to Thailand with!

    Anybody still awake?????

Then I called into the rather odd 20p chazza shop which seems to have a strange collection of stuff and there I found another scarf, large, square and in shades of mink with huge peach chrysanthemums, perfect match for the aforementioned cardi and M & S top. Then I tottered into Oxfam where they had some more of the new Ted Baker stuff in but I wasn't tempted, (beautiful pale pink dress in the window at the mo). In the homeware bit I found a dinky little pack of handprinted on linen, fancy jam pot covers with a matching set of jam pot labels. Now please don't go thinking I am so pawsh that I have hats on my jam jars normally!!! I do like giving away my home made preserves to friends and I do like to tart the jars up so I am really looking forward to using these....£1.49 they were.

Now for a good example of 'she who hesitates loses':( In the Mind £1 shop I saw a creamy white, very fine pashmina stylee scarf. Decided later to go back for it and it had gone. Also decided to go back for the 99p aubergine jacket - that had gone too!

Oh and the B & H gifty set spotting tally was 3 today, one in Oxfam, one in BHF and another in one of the other expensive chazzas :rotfl:

If you made it to the end of this....well done!!

caffinated_geek - another WOW! from me too.

Miro - sounds an awful night. Retail therapy to the rescue.

Why oh why did you leave the silk jacket? :(
I guess it ust wasn't meant for you.

Great find with the Jim Thomson silk, I've been to his house too.
    The scarf sounds wonderful.

Your silk find knocks mine into a cocked-hat.
A very large Accessorize silk scarf, big enough to use as a sarong, in graduated shades of green from light greeny-yellow to deep olive. Very soft and very good condition. £1.00 Lighthouse shop.

    I can see B & H gifty set spotting turning into a sub-thread.

Have a sneaky look at any dates on the packaging -- what's the most years something has been regifted around?!

I am very jealous of you coat find, I've never found any LTS in a CS. I am with you re the sleeves, it is so lovely to not keep trying to cover your wrists.

Miro - what a night. I've been in that weird 20p shop, crikey he has some junk in there too.

I've seen quite a few LTS items in various charity shops.

    Typical!

I'm a smidge under 5 foot tall. :rotfl:
